Parker Meadows returns to Detroit Tigers from injured list after missing first 60 games
CHICAGO — Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows is ready to play his first game of the 2025 season after missing the first 60 games.
The 25-year-old has been injured since Feb. 22 in spring training, diagnosed with a musculocutaneous nerve injury in his upper right arm. It was a 100-day absence.

The Tigers activated Meadows from the injured list Monday, June 2, for the opener of a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation granted anonymity because the roster move is not official. He traveled to Chicago on Sunday, June 1, in preparation for Monday's game.
To reinstate Meadows, the Tigers optioned outfielder/designated hitter Justyn-Henry Malloy to Triple-A Toledo.
SWITCH-HITTER: Wenceel Pérez provides Tigers something they don't have without him
Meadows completed eight games on a rehab assignment, logging 37 innings in center field and 33 plate appearances. He hit .259 with one home run, six walks and eight strikeouts, including a 1.004 OPS in six games at Triple-A Toledo.

Returning to the Tigers, Meadows — a left-handed hitter — immediately takes over as the everyday center fielder and leadoff hitter against right-handed pitchers.
In 2024, Meadows hit .244 with nine home runs, 25 walks and 76 strikeouts over 82 games. He was worth plus-5 defensive runs saved across 660 innings in center field. The Tigers had a 49-26 record when Meadows started last season, including a 33-11 record when he recorded a hit.
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows bats during spring training at TigerTown in Lakeland, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025.
He hit .299 with an .857 OPS in his final 50 games after returning from Triple-A Toledo with a swing change.
The best team in baseball just got better. That's the type of impact Meadows brings the Tigers on a daily basis.

Tigers Announce Unfortunate Kerry Carpenter News Before White Sox Game
Tigers Announce Unfortunate Kerry Carpenter News Before White Sox Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Detroit Tigers (40-22) outfielder and designated hitter Kerry Carpenter is one of many reasons why his team has the best record in baseball. The 27-year-old is on pace for career-highs in homers (13) and RBI (27) through 57 games thus far, as his personal-best marks are 20 homers and 64 RBI across 118 games in 2023. Advertisement Additionally, Carpenter is third on the Tigers with an .849 OPS and second with a .273 batting average. The 6-foot-1-inch, 220-pounder also hit three homers in Detroit's 13-1 win over the Chicago White Sox (19-42) on Monday. However, the Tigers will have to win without Carpenter vs. the White Sox on Wednesday. Detroit Tigers designated hitter Kerry Carpenter (30). Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images While Carpenter was in the initial starting lineup, batting fifth and playing right field, the team announced the unfortunate news that he has been scratched with a hamstring issue. Wenceel Pérez is now in right field in his place. "Kerry Carpenter has been scratched due to right hamstring tightness," the club announced before the game. Detroit drafted Carpenter No. 562 overall in 2019 and called him up in August 2022. The Virginia Tech alum owns a career slash line of .276/.302/.512 with 57 homers and 158 RBI across 293 games. He also slashed .263/.300/.421 with one homer and four RBI in seven playoff contests last year. Advertisement The Tigers will face the White Sox one more time at Rate Field on Thursday before hosting the Chicago Cubs (38-22). After that, they'll go back on the road to play the Baltimore Orioles (23-36) before returning home to face the Cincinnati Reds (30-33) and Pittsburgh Pirates (22-39). Detroit owns a six-game lead atop the AL Central.
