Former NFL receiver Antonio Brown targeted in apparent robbery attempt at Miami boxing event
Several bystanders recorded video of the incident in which someone allegedly tried to steal jewelry Brown was wearing around his neck, then joined a group of people in attacking him.
"I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me," Brown posted on social media.
Though Brown is seen being handcuffed by local police, he says he was only being detained to provide his account of what happened and was then released, not arrested.
Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.…

"I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED," Brown added. "I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me."
Some witnesses allege that Brown pulled out a handgun after being attacked and apparent shots can be heard being fired in the melee surrounding the episode. Brown can be seen kicking a man in video clips, who was later identified as security personnel who was trying to protect him.
After being questioned by police, Brown returned to the event, which was being promoted by streaming celebrity Adin Ross and his Brand Risk Promotions. Brown can be seen on Ross' live stream following the incident and was asked if he wanted to do "story time," but walked away from the camera.
Brown later said on the stream that "nothing happened" and that he "blacked out," making a joke about suffering from CTE sustained during his football career.
A seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro selection, Brown has not played in the NFL since 2021. Yet the 12-year NFL veteran has stayed in the public eye due to many off-field controversies, of which this is the latest.

49ers WR Demarcus Robinson suspended 3 games following DUI charge, team trades for Chiefs WR Skyy Moore
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will miss the first three games of the season. The NFL suspended Robinson for three games on Wednesday following his DUI arrest last November, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed. Robinson is expected to appeal the suspension. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] 'D-Rob, we're not going to have him through the first three weeks,' Shanahan said on KNBR radio, via ESPN. 'You can always appeal it, so we'll hope for the best on that, but that's what we are planning for.' Robinson was arrested in November on a DUI charge when he was still playing with the Los Angeles Rams. He was pulled over hours following a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after officers said they saw him driving more than 100 miles per hour on a Los Angeles-area freeway. He was cited and then released. The Rams did not suspend him for his actions. Robinson later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI. He signed a two-year, $9.5 million deal to join the 49ers in free agency. With the plea deal behind him and the case now closed, the punishment is something that many had expected to be coming down before the start of the 2025 campaign. "[I'm] pretty anxious," Robinson said earlier this month about the impending suspension. "Just waiting on the outcome to see what happens with that. I really don't know the timeframe. Waiting to hear from them, obviously. It's all up to whatever the league says.' Robinson had a career-high 505 yards and seven touchdowns on 31 catches last season with the Rams. The former Florida standout was first selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent six seasons there, and then played one year with the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Rams in 2023. Assuming the three-game suspension is upheld, Robinson will be eligible to return and make his debut with the 49ers on Sept. 28 when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars. 49ers trade for Chiefs WR Skyy Moore With Robinson out for the start of the season and other big injuries at the position, the 49ers made a move to bolster their wide receivers room on Wednesday afternoon. The franchise struck a deal to land Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In exchange, the teams will swap late-round draft picks in 2027. Moore had 244 yards and a touchdown on 21 catches during the 2023 season, his second with the Chiefs after they took him out of Western Michigan the year prior. Moore appeared in just six games last season and didn't make a catch, however, while being extremely limited with a long core muscle injury. Moore should provide some much needed depth for the 49ers, who are very limited at wide receiver to start the year. Star Brandon Aiyuk is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL injury in his right knee, though he's hopeful to be back on the field around Week 6. Jauan Jennings is dealing with a calf injury amid his push for a new deal, and rookie wide receiver Jordan Watkins is recovering from a sprained ankle. The 49ers — who went 6-11 and missed the playoffs last season, just a year removed from their run to the Super Bowl — will open their season on Sept. 7 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Myles Garrett repeatedly declines to address his 8th speeding ticket after citation for driving 100 mph: 'Ask a different question'
Myles Garrett declined to address his latest speeding ticket on Wednesday as he faced media for the first time since being cited for driving 100 mph in his Ferrari. The Cleveland Browns captain and six-time All-Pro defensive end was asked repeatedly about the infraction during media availability at Wednesday's Cleveland Browns practice. Each time he was asked about it, Garrett said that he preferred to discuss football. "I'd honestly prefer to talk about football and this team than anything I'm doing off the field other than the back-to-school-event that I did the other day," Garrett said when first asked about it. When pressed that "people want to know about that," Garrett again deflected. "People want to know a lot of things," Garrett continued. "I try to keep my personal life personal. And I'd rather focus on this team when I can." [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Garrett faced repeated questions about the citation during his availability and continued to decline to address the situation, including when asked about his role as a leader on the Browns. "Again, you're asking the same question, and I've answered it two different times," Garrett said when pressed again. "I'm gonna need you to ask a different question so I can focus on this team and not this headline you're trying to get out this question that you're asking." Garrett's 8th speeding ticket since joining Browns Garrett was cited on Aug. 9 for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone in the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville, Ohio. The incident took place on Saturday morning, a day after the Browns returned home from a preseason road game against the Carolina Panthers. The citation came with a $250 fine. The speeding citation was Garrett's eighth since he joined the Browns as the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2022, Garrett flipped his Porsche and was cited for driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone leading up to the rollover crash. Garrett sustained a shoulder sprain and biceps strain among other minor injuries in the crash that took place in September that year and sidelined him for Cleveland's Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Garrett returned to the field the following week and played the rest of the season en route to earning second-team All-Pro honors. Garrett, 29, is entering his ninth season with the Browns as their best player and the veteran leader on the team. He signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the Browns in the offseason and will entered the 2025 season among the favorites to win Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career.

49ers WR Demarcus Robinson suspended three games
The NFL has suspended wide receiver Demarcus Robinson three games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR. It is a suspension the 49ers anticipated when they signed Robinson in the offseason. Robinson was playing for the Rams when police pulled him over Nov. 25 for driving his car at a speed in excess of 100 mph. He refused a field sobriety test. In July, Robinson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge. A judge sentenced Robinson to 36 months of probation and imposed a $390 fine. Robinson also was given penalty assessment and was ordered to complete a series of programs, including a three-month alcohol program and a hospital and morgue program. Robinson had two other charges — driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol content or higher and driving without a valid license — dismissed. The 49ers open the season against Seattle, New Orleans and Arizona, games Robinson will miss before he can return for a Week 4 game against Jacksonville.
