THEY socialised, shared stories and laughed together. Some are engineers, some are entrepreneurs, others are housewives. But these women all share a common passion: their love of supercars.
Dozens of women gathered over the weekend in Dubai to take part in a car rally across the United Arab Emirates.
The event was organised by the region's first ever all-female supercar owners club, the Arabian Gazelles, and saw 30 women living in the UAE and abroad take part in a four-day tour of the country.
Arabian Gazelles was created eight years ago by Hanan Mazouzi Sobati as a way to give women a seat at the table in the automotive scene
'It's really a product of sheer frustration ... because women were overlooked in this automotive scene, and I thought someone has to do something about it and to bring in more women and to drive the change,' Mazouzi Sobati said as she drove her Lamborghini on the road to Fujairah.
Her passion for cars goes back as far as she can remember. While kids her age were watching cartoons, she says she was watching Formula One.
And the passion for supercars has now become the driving force for something even bigger: changing people's mentalities and perception over women and supercars.

Mazouzi saw how it was mainly men who were invited to car experiences and automotive events.
When she set up Arabian Gazelles she says she was the only woman at these events, and even then, she went instead of her husband who was the one getting the invites, despite him not being a supercar enthusiast.
She said brands wouldn't support an all-woman car club at the start
'We want people to stop thinking there's always a man because they see a woman in a supercar; either a husband, a partner, a sugar daddy,' she said.
They have come a long way however, and Mazouzi is slowly seeing perceptions change.
As part of the Arabian Gazelle rally, the women were invited by BMW to test out cars on the race tracks.
'We do not need permission to drive, or to choose what kind of cars to drive. We do not need permission to have this passion,' she said.

FORMULA ONE championship leader Oscar Piastri said winning Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix was just what he needed after losing out to McLaren teammate Lando Norris over the previous two weekends. 'It's been a great year and this weekend's been exactly the kind of weekend I was looking for,' said the Australian after his fifth win in nine races. 'We executed everything we needed to when it counted and that's all you can ask for. The team gave me a great car once again. It's a lot of fun winning races at the moment.' The victory, the seventh of the 24-year-old's career, stretched Piastri's lead over second-placed Norris to 10 points after the Briton reduced it to three with his triumph in Monaco last Sunday. Norris also finished second at Imola, the race before Monaco won by Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with Piastri third. The Australian led from pole position in Spain, the top slot on the grid secured by the biggest margin of the year so far, after also topping the practice times at the Circuit de Catalunya. 'It's definitely up there,' Piastri said when asked whether it was his strongest yet in Formula One. 'I don't know if it's the best one, but certainly it's been a strong one. You know, it's pretty hard to complain with the results we've had this weekend. 'Just the effort that's gone in, and analysing some of the things from last week that we could have done better - I think we turned it around very nicely and got back to the form we wanted to be on.' Norris, winner of two races this year so far, said he did not feel he had lost anything. 'I think Oscar drove a very good race today and had a good day yesterday. I had the pace to go with him but not enough to try and catch up and put him under threat,' he said.

Piastri nails it in Spain — while Verstappen locks up and melts down
BARCELONA, June 2 — Formula One leader Oscar Piastri won the Spanish Grand Prix in a McLaren one-two with Lando Norris yesterday while Max Verstappen was left on the brink of a ban after a clash with Mercedes' George Russell. Polesitter Piastri won by 2.471 seconds to go 10 points clear of Norris with his fifth victory in nine races, and McLaren's seventh of the season. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc completed the podium in a race that left the drama to the end with a late safety car deployment. 'It's a nice way to bounce back from Monaco. A superb weekend,' said Piastri, who finished third last weekend in a race won from pole by Norris. Verstappen, who made four stops in total and ended up fighting on hard tyres against rivals with faster softs, collided with Leclerc and then twice with Russell after the safety car restart with six laps to go. Stewards handed the four-times world champion a 10-second post-race penalty for the second collision with Russell, which appeared deliberate, dropping Verstappen from fifth on the road to 10th. The Dutch driver was also given three penalty points to take his total tally to 11 for the 12 month period. One more before the end of June would incur a one-race ban. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes 2016 world champion and now a pundit for Sky Sports television, said Verstappen should have been black-flagged for what looked to him like intentional retaliation for the earlier contact. Another investigation into the clash with Leclerc drew no further action. Russell finished fourth while Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg finished a surprising and morale-boosting fifth for the future Audi team after passing Ferrari's seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton on the penultimate lap. A safety car deployment on lap 55, after Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli beached his Mercedes in the gravel, bunched up the field and triggered a rash of stops.
