‘Maybe Happy Ending' Casting Change Ignites Debate About Representation
But the show's recent decision to cast Andrew Barth Feldman, a white actor, as one of the helperbots after the current actor in the role, Darren Criss, who is of Filipino descent, departs next month has raised alarms among Asian American actors and spurred a weeklong conversation about representation. Feldman ('Dear Evan Hansen,' 'No Hard Feelings'), who is scheduled to step into the production for nine weeks starting Sept. 2, is also the boyfriend of the musical's lead actress, Helen J Shen.
'Maybe Happy Ending' opened on Broadway last fall, and seven of the show's eight actors (four onstage and four understudies) are currently played by actors of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander descent.
In a statement, the show said that casting and production decisions were the result of 'thoughtful deliberations' by its creative team. 'We are proud to have created a show where every role can authentically be portrayed by an Asian actor, although the roles of the robots were not envisioned to always be cast that way,' the statement read. 'We also appreciate that, for many within the A.A.P.I. community, seeing the original Broadway cast represented an inspiring milestone of visibility and representation.'
A separate lengthy statement was posted on social media early Thursday, and in the comments, fans and supporters debated the decision. This year three Asian American performers (Nicole Scherzinger, Darren Criss and Francis Jue) won Tony Awards in three acting categories, which was a first; four other Asian American actors were also nominated.
Amid the dialogue about representation, Conrad Ricamora, a star of the Broadway play 'Oh, Mary!,' took action. Last weekend, he started a scholarship fund called 'The Right to Be There' for Asian American men pursuing an acting degree. He said in an attached letter that he had been carrying grief from being told that he did not belong.

Krafton claims former Subnautica 2 devs ‘lost interest' in developing game
Krafton has fired another shot in its legal battle with former executives of Subnautica 2 studio Unknown Worlds, who filed a lawsuit last month, claiming the South Korean publisher undermined the game's release to avoid paying them a bonus. In its response, Krafton claims that the three plaintiffs, Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire, had 'lost interest in developing Subnautica 2.' The story told by Krafton's lawyers in the filing is that after selling Unknown Worlds to Krafton for $500 million and promising $250 million more in earnout bonuses, Cleveland and McGuire essentially checked out of working on Subnautica 2 to focus on personal projects. 'In 2024 and 2025, Cleveland stated that he was 'no longer working on games but […] working on a couple of films,'' while 'McGuire started 'working on initiatives that fall outside of [the Company's] main development activities.'' As for Gill, 'And Gill, who remained, focused on leveraging his operational control to maximize the earnout payment, rather than developing a successful game.' They allege that without the leadership of Cleveland and McGuire, development on Subnautica 2 suffered to the point that a delay of the game's early access launch was necessary. …as the end of the carnout period drew nearer, the game was still nowhere near its planned scope. Indeed, as late as March of 2025, only two months before the Key Employees claimed the game was ready for the first Early Access ('EA') release, the development lead for Subnautica 2 at Unknown Worlds noted that the first EA and second EA (planned for December 2025) would only be 'about 12% of our intended 1.0 scope' and joked that 'at that rate we would be in development for 30 years.' When the plaintiffs disagreed that Early Access should be delayed, Krafton fired them, sparking the battle playing out now in Delaware Chancery Court. Forget the Steam Deck, this 12.5-inch handheld can play games at 4K 100FPS
TL;DR A modder has created a handheld gaming PC with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The handheld's display is 12.5 inches with a 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. It's capable of running God of War (2016) in 4K resolution at 100FPS. Handheld gaming PCs are getting more powerful all the time. However, they still can't replace the level of performance you get from a full-on gaming laptop. Or can they? One modder has taken that idea and put it to the test. A Bilibili creator who goes by Qingchen DIY has built a giant 12.5-inch handheld gaming PC (h/t El Chapuzas Informatico). But it's not the size that's impressive, it's the fact that the modder fitted it with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Along with that high-end GPU, there's also a 24-core Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU. The system is also equipped with a 12.5-inch IPS touch display with a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels), 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of storage. It's safe to say that the power behind this device easily surpasses the top names in the market, like Valve's Steam Deck and ASUS' ROG Ally X. You could even say this system is more of a laptop that was simply converted into a handheld. But what can this beast of a handheld actually do? In the video, the modder shows the device running Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K resolution at 60FPS. That's not bad considering that other handhelds tend to struggle running the title at just 1080p, with upscaling technologies helping out. What's even more impressive is that at one point, the modder shows the device running God of War (2016) in 4K at above 100FPS. As you can imagine, this is likely a pretty power-hungry device. It appears this device relies on an external power source. However, it does also have a built-in 50Wh battery. While it would be fun to give this system a try, we'll probably stick with our Steam Deck. A 12.5-inch handheld would be a bit unwieldy for most hands. Follow
