Ludhiana: A blood donation camp was held at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College here Monday, as part of the Vijay Diwas celebrations. It was organised by 3 Punjab Battalion NCC in association with non-profit organisation, NIFAA.
Sixty-two cadets and instructor staff donated blood at the camp. Col Rohit Kalra from the battalion said organising such events emphasises and makes the youth realsise their role in nation building, and also sensitises them to their responsibility towards society.
Subjedar Major Karnail Singh, Commanding Officer, 3 Punjab Battalion, NCC also donated blood at the camp. Donors were awarded with medals and certificates by Ajay Jain from NIFAA.
Col Khanna took an active part in Operation Vijay while his Battalion 14 Sikhs was deployed in the Batalik sector. For his act of bravery, he was awarded Sena Medal (gallantry) in the same sector. tnn

Chandigarh: Brigadier Rajeev Kapur, a recipient of Sena Medal took over as the deputy director general (DDG) of the NCC Directorate, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (PHHP&C), replacing Brig Satya Narain Singh who retired on Thursday. The new incumebnt, Brig Rajeev Kapur brings extensive experience to his new role. He commanded an Infantry Brigade in Ladakh during Operation Galwan and the NCC Group Headquarters at Jorhat. The outgoing and incoming officers exchanged warm sentiments and best wishes. NCC staff acknowledged Brig Singh's dedication and welcomed Brig Kapur's leadership. The outgoing DDG, Brig Satya Narain Singh, a distinguished alumnus of Sainik School, Kunjpura, and the National Defence Academy (NDA), was commissioned into the 3 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry on Dec 14, 1991. During his illustrious 35-year career, he served in various capacities across India, showcasing his versatility and dedication. Brig Singh's achievements include commanding the 17 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and the 76 Infantry Brigade, and he was awarded the GOC-in-C Commendation thrice. Raipur NCC group clinches third consecutive title at inter-group camp in Lakholi

RAIPUR: NCC Group Raipur has emerged as overall champion at the prestigious inter-group competition (IGC) camp held at the NCC training node in Lakholi, Arang, marking its third consecutive victory in the annual event. The ten-day camp, which concluded on July 31, brought together over 600 cadets from across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, under the aegis of the NCC directorate (MP & CG). The IGC was conducted in conjunction with the annual training camp (ATC) of the Chhattisgarh battalion NCC, Korba, making it a comprehensive and high-intensity experience for participating cadets. The participating NCC groups included Raipur, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Indore, and Sagar, who competed in a series of rigorous and technical events. These included obstacle training, tent pitching, map reading, judging distance and field signals, all designed to assess physical endurance, mental agility, and leadership qualities. Lieutenant General V. Sreehari to take charge as GOC, Dakshin Bharat Area from August 1

Lieutenant General V. Sreehari will assume charge as the General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, Indian Army, from Friday (August 1, 2025). The formation covers Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the Union Territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep. Hailing from Malappuram, Kerala, he is an alumnus of Sainik School Amaravati Nagar, NDA Khadakvasla, and IMA Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 16 Sikh Light Infantry on June 13, 1987. He served in the many parts of the country and an United Nations Mission abroad. He commanded a Para Special Forces Battalion in Operation Rakshak, Base Camp at Siachen Glacier, and a Mountain Division in the northeast. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra in 1998 while serving with the 31 Rashtriya Rifles (Commando), the Sena Medal (Distinguished Services) in 2021, and an Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2023.
