Is Trey coming back? Sex and the City star Kristin Davis hints her character Charlotte could be 'running into' her ex-husband on And Just Like That
Kristin Davis has revealed that there's a possibility that one of Sex and the City's most beloved ex-husbands could be making a comeback.
The 60-year-old was quizzed on what characters she'd like to see appear on the spin off of the iconic 1990s and noughties series, And Just Like That, by Stellar Magazine this week.
The actress was quick to name Kyle MacLachlan, who played Trey MacDougal, the husband - and later ex-husband - of her character, Charlotte York.
MacLachlan, 66, appeared on Sex And The City between 2000 and 2002.
'I feel like there could be many scenarios where [Trey's return] could work' Kristin explained.
'I feel like in New York, you do run into people from your past pretty frequently.'
She added: 'It would totally make sense that Trey and Charlotte would be at the same events or at the same restaurants.
'I don't know if that would be enough for them to explore their relationship but it would be fun to do it, if we could'.
Trey and Charlotte had an unhappy marriage, leading to a tense divorce - but through that process, Charlotte met her soulmate, lawyer Harry Goldenblatt, played by Evan Handler, who became her second husband.
Handler continues to appear in the spin off And Just Like That as well as starring in both Sex And The City films.
The is however one storyline from Sex and the City that Kristen couldn't stand - and even tried to get out of filming it.
Davis recalled the plotline during a recent episode of her podcast Are You a Charlotte?
She explained that during the sixth season of the show, the script called for York and her on screen husband Handler to come down with a bout of bad food poisoning.
The pair were supposed to be out at a fancy dinner, enjoying dishes like French cheese, only for the both of them to then get hit with food poisoning and end up on the toilet.
'I just hated that storyline so much,' Davis admitted on the podcast.
Davis disliked it so much that she even went to the episode's writers, Elisa Zuritsky and Julia Rottenberg, and questioned why they had to do this.
'They were like, "It's so funny"' Davis remembered.
'I think it was based on a story where someone went to France and had a similar experience with their decadent cheeses, which we're not used to here,' she continued.
'I didn't like that. I didn't want to lay on the floor of the bathroom with Evan in stained T-shirts. Ick.'
However, the two ended up acting out the scene, and it made the cut on the 14th episode of season six.
Sex and The City ended that season in 2004, but was revived in 2021 as the ladies returned for a spinoff, called And Just Like That, about life in their 50s.
The spinoff stars Sarah Jessica Parker Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes.
Samantha Jones, who was played by Kim Cattrall in the original series, did not participate in the revival.
However, it looks like there will be some new characters for fans to look forward to meeting this year, as And Just Like That is set to premiere its third season on HBO sometime this year.
During an on-stage talk at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia late last year, Parker teased some new additions to the cast.
'There is growth with new faces,' Parker said, per Variety.
'Carrie has a wonderful storyline,' she continued.
'The story takes some big swings and we fold some big ideas into those big swings. Some of the male characters are back, and there are some new men.'
She also shared that the third season took over seven months to shoot and involved 'crazy long hours.'
'It feels really big, really robust and exciting,' Parker shared.

And with the nation devastated by the Rage virus nearly three decades ago, this new film - released June 19 - will show insight into the vastly different ways humanity has adapted to survive. The original film 28 Days Later starred Cillian as a bicycle courier who wakes up from a coma to discover the accidental release of a highly contagious, aggression-inducing virus has caused the breakdown of society. But despite frenzied speculation that he would be reprising his role in this sequel, when the trailer came out in December, with one character appearing to resemble a zombified form of Cillian's character Jim from the first film. However, this theory was quickly shut down when a London art dealer and model revealed he was the one playing the zombie character. Danny has since teased that viewers may get to see Cillian, 48, return after all, in one of the later films in the trilogy. Speaking during Sony's presentation at 2025 CinemaCon, the filmmaker hinted: 'Like all good things in life, you may have to wait a little while for [Cillian] to make his appearance'. 28 Years Later was filmed back-to-back with the second film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, by director Nia DaCosta, which is being released in January 2026. Producer Andrew Macdonald previously confirmed that Cillian would not be appearing in 28 Years Later, but also suggested he could return for a future film. He told Empire: '[On] this, we wanted him to be involved and he wanted to be involved. He is not in the first film, but I'm hoping there will be some Jim somewhere along the line.' He added: 'He's involved at the moment as an executive producer, and I would hope we can work with him in some way in the future in the trilogy.' Gary Lineker's final interview with Mohamed Salah 'was CANCELLED' over 'concerns pair would discuss Gaza' - after Match of the Day star left BBC amid antisemitism row
Gary Lineker 's final interview as a BBC broadcaster was reportedly cancelled after concerns from the organisation feared that the pundit would discuss the war in Gaza with Mohamed Salah. The long-serving Match of the Day host presented his final programme for the channel on the last day of the 2024-25 season. Lineker had been set to continue working with the BBC for next year's 2026 World Cup as the front man of the channel's coverage in North America, as well as leading FA Cup coverage. But the England legend announced that he would step back from the broadcaster for good after becoming embroiled in controversy for sharing an Instagram story about Zionism featuring a rate - an antisemitic trope used by the Nazis to characterise Jewish people as vermin. Announcing his exit in a BBC statement, the former England footballer said that he '(recognised) the error and upset that (he) caused. 'Stepping back now feels like the responsible course of action,' he added, stating that he 'would never consciously repost anything antisemitic'. Lineker's final Match of the Day was replete with tributes to his long career in the hot seat, but as per the Sun, one final job for the broadcaster was vetoed. Lineker was believed to be primed for a sit-down with Salah, but the interview was reportedly cancelled without warning amid fears that he would discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East with the Premier League title-winner. A source shared that the interview as set to be shared across his final weekend, but the threat that Gaza might have 'come up naturally in conversation' saw it cancelled 'out of nowhere'. The BBC were contacted for comment by the publication, and shared the following statement: 'The interview was cancelled because it planned to air after Gary's last Match of the Day. 'It would be wrong to suggest anything else.' But the outlet's source questioned that the conversation could have aired 'anytime'. Mail Sport has contacted the BBC for further comment. After Lineker shared his statement stepping back from the broadcaster, the BBC's director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski sent an email to staff minutes afterwards highlighting how 'difficult and emotional' the roiling controversy had been for many of his employees. He added: 'It is sad to be saying goodbye to such a brilliant broadcaster and I also want to thank Gary for his years of service'. Lineker will not be returning next season to front the broadcaster's FA Cup coverage in 2026 BBC director general Tim Davie also agreed was is the right decision, after having reportedly lost patience with the BBC's top-paid presenter. 'Gary has acknowledged the mistake he made. Accordingly, we have agreed he will step back from further presenting after this season', he said. He continued: 'Gary has been a defining voice in football coverage for the BBC for over two decades. His passion and knowledge have shaped our sports journalism and earned him the respect of sports fans across the UK and beyond. 'We want to thank him for the contribution he has made.'
