My Morning Jacket coming to Minneapolis with new album, 'is'

Yahoo06-02-2025
My Morning Jacket is preparing to release its 10th studio album, is, an album title that will never, ever cause issues for people searching for the record online.
The album will be accompanied by a tour called "My Morning Jacket 'is' On Tour." The 18-date trek, with more shows to be announced soon, includes a three-night homecoming stint in Louisville.
It'll also bring them to The Armory in Minneapolis on April 20.
Their arrival in the Twin Cities will come just a couple of weeks after the March 21 release of is. Earlier this week, My Morning Jacket gave a preview, playing the lead single, "Time Waited," on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
For fans who have followed the band's quarter-century career, is will have a unique approach. The group rarely works with a producer, and Jim James, the band's lead singer and guitarist, has produced or co-produced every record since their 1999 debut, The Tennessee Fire. Here, they've teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Brendan O'Brien.
'Up until now I've never been able to let go and allow someone else to steer the ship,' James says. 'It almost felt like an out-of-body experience to step back and give control over to someone who's far more accomplished and made so many more records than us, but in the end, I was able to enjoy the process maybe more than I ever have before.'
The tour is currently on sale to members of the band's One Big Family 'Family Pass' program. A presale will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the public the following morning at 10 a.m.

Liam Gallagher Declares Oasis Concerts Safe for Cheaters: ‘We Don't Have That Coldplay Camera'

Oasis have revealed a last-minute bonus for ticket holders attending their sold out Live '25 reunion tour: Each ticket comes with a free pass to cheat on whoever you want, only valid at participating venues. 'Do we have any lovebirds in the house? Don't worry, we don't got any of that Coldplay snidey fucking camera shit,' Liam Gallagher asked onstage in Manchester, England. In the wake of Coldplay's inadvertent Cheating CEO Camera, it's a fair warning. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' frontman Chris Martin joked from the stage. The not-so-willing participants were later revealed to be CEO Andy Byron and chief human resources officer Kristin Cabot of the tech company Astronomer. On Friday, Astronomer issued a statement announcing its board of directors 'initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly' and had placed both employees on leave. If the decision was up to the Gallaghers, the whole thing might have blown over. 'Doesn't matter to us who you're fucking mingling with, or tingling with, or fingering with,' Gallagher said at their show. 'It's none of our fucking business.' On Saturday, the company announced that Byron had resigned. At the first Coldplay concert since the apparent infidelity incident, Martin gently reminded the audience that their attendance implies an understanding that they may be filmed. 'We'd like to say hello to some of you in the crowd,' Martin told the audience at Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin. Michelle Williams opens up about baby No. 4, thanks her surrogate

Michelle Williams opened up this week about the arrival of her fourth child and gave a sweet shoutout to her surrogate. During an appearance on " Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday, the "Dawson's Creek" alum confirmed she and husband Thomas Kail recently welcomed their third baby together via surrogacy. In addition to her three children with Kail, Williams is also a mom to daughter Matilda, whom she shared with the late Heath Ledger. The topic of baby No. 4 came up after guest host Tiffany Haddish complimented Williams on her figure, saying she looked like she'd never had kids. "Then I've got to give a big shout out to Christine, because this last baby did not come through my body," Williams replied, appearing to reference her surrogate. "But the miracle of our little girl is thanks to Christine. Maybe you're watching out there --thank you, Christine." She added, "Thanks to Christine, I have three under 5 at home." Williams went on to reflect on motherhood with humor and honesty. "Everything's good and under control. I'm the adult," she said. "It's good, it's just really busy. I'm trying to figure out the sort of life-work balance." Williams admitted that while everyone talks about self-care, it's easier said than done. "I already have the guilt, and I don't want to take more time away from them, but I understand, like, I need to fill up the tank," she said. As for how she recharges, Williams joked that she's found peace in an unlikely place: the Social Security office. "They will let you wait in complete silence for at least one hour," she said. "I have it all figured out." In an interview with " Good Morning America" that aired this week, Williams credited her family as the support system that grounds her.

Jimmy Kimmel Just Revealed That Matt Damon Genuinely Almost Died In His House Amid Their 22-Year Faux Feud — And He's Well Aware Of How Suspicious That Would Have Looked

Any pop culture lover is probably aware of the faux feud between Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel, which all started way back in 2003 when Jimmy ended an episode of his late-night talk show by jokingly saying: 'Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time.' As it happens, Matt was never billed to appear on the show, with Jimmy later explaining on NPR: 'We had a bad show…. The guests were bad, and I was feeling pretty bad about myself at the end of the program.' He added that he only made the joke for the amusement of one of his producers, sharing: 'Matt Damon was just the first name that popped into my head. I was trying to think of an A-list star and somebody we absolutely would not bump if he was on the show.' This joke immediately became a running gag on Jimmy Kimmel Live, with the host ending his show with the same quip night after night. During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Matt admitted that this off-the-cuff moment from Jimmy 'changed the rest of [their] lives' as he confirmed that he'd never even met the host prior to that moment. Related: Matt finally did appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live three years later, in 2006, and the two fully leaned into the bit by having Jimmy end the show right after introducing Matt as his guest. At the time, Matt jokingly started cussing out the host and stormed off stage. Matt returned the following year, and enlisted Jimmy's then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman to prank Jimmy, with Sarah recording a song called: 'I'm Fucking Matt Damon,' and the two shooting a music video together that joked about them having a secret sexual relationship behind Jimmy's back. For what it's worth, 'I'm Fucking Matt Damon' ended up winning a Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Jimmy got his own back in 2009, when he called in Matt's longtime best friend for the song: 'I'm Fucking Ben Affleck,' and an accompanying music video. Related: The gags have continued in a similar vein throughout the years, with the two men regularly pranking one another and poking fun at their 'rivalry.' So, with all of this in mind, it's pretty on brand that Matt genuinely almost died when he had dinner at Jimmy's house, with Jimmy only just sharing the previously untold story about how he almost actually killed Matt Damon. Related: The anecdote came to light during Jimmy's recent interview with Variety, and how suspicious it would have looked if the Hollywood actor had died at his hands after decades of public play-fighting was not lost on Jimmy. 'Matt Damon was over at my house one night for dinner. I made pork ribs. He came late, was very hungry, and started eating fast,' Jimmy told the publication. 'He started choking on a pork rib. It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half.' 'His brother was there. I said: 'We have got to get him to the hospital,' because if he dies in my house, I'm going to prison for the rest of my life. I will never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder,' the star went on to quip, but thankfully, the trio were able to find a solution with the help of the trusty internet. Related: 'We did a lot of YouTube-ing and finally concluded that eating little bits of bread was the way to get that rib to work its way down into his stomach — and bread saved him,' Jimmy concluded. 'We tried the Heimlich many times. It was too far down.' Whew, thank goodness for YouTube! Needless to say, I'm personally very glad that Matt Damon didn't choke to death on a pork rib in Jimmy Kimmel's house. Let me know your thoughts on Jimmy's anecdote in the comments below!
