India Today5 hours ago

The Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) on Monday issued a U/A 13+ certificate to 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. Earlier, reports suggested that Aamir Khan, who is also the producer of the film, had rejected the changes and edits recommended by the board initially. However, a Revising Committee of the board suggested a set of five fresh changes, meeting the makers midway, and clearing the film for final screening.advertisementAs reported by Bollywood Hungama, the makers were asked to introduce around five modifications to the film. The first included the replacement of the term 'Business Woman' with 'Business Person'. The second suggestion by the Revising Committee included 'Michael Jackson' being replaced by 'Lovebirds'. The committee, headed by Vaman Kendre, also asked the word 'kamal' (lotus) to be removed from the scene. And finally, the makers were asked to add a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the opening disclaimer. The committee also suggested the old disclaimer be deleted and a new disclaimer with a voice-over be added to the film.
The report mentioned that the makers accepted all the suggestions and received a certificate rated U/A 13+, which means that the movie is suitable for unrestricted public exhibition, but with a recommendation for parental guidance for children under 13 years of age. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is estimated at around two hours, 38 minutes and 46 seconds.'Sitaare Zameen Par', directed by RS Prasanna, is scheduled for release on June 20.

Kuberaa: CBFC cuts 19 scenes from Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna-starrer, grants film UA certificate

Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa, with Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The pan-India release has now been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Kuberaa has received a UA certificate from the CBFC after 19 scenes were cut from the original cut, which has trimmed the film by 13 minutes and 41 seconds. (Also read: Rashmika Mandanna can't stop blushing when asked about Vijay Deverakonda at Kuberaa trailer launch; says this about him) The official X account of the film shared a post which highlighted its UA certification by the CBFC. The caption of the post read, '181 minutes of drama, emotion, love, greed, thrill, and everything in between! Kuberaa - A complete U/A socio-drama that promises a fresh cinematic experience.' The revised certification for the film, as offered by the CBFC, has now surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). According to the post shared by Andhra Box Office, 19 scenes were directed to be deleted from the film. The visuals that have been asked to be deleted feature most of the principal cast, including Dhanush, Rashmika and Jim Sarbh. As a result, Kuberaa has now been trimmed by 13 minutes and 41 seconds. About Kuberaa Expectations are high on the film as it's Dhanush's debut in Telugu and Sekhar's second film in Tamil after Anaamika. Dhanush plays a beggar who challenges the system's status quo, while Nagarjuna is the main antagonist. The trailer of the film was released a few days, and has already picked interest among fans, particularly for Dhanush's performance. Rashmika's character seems to be someone whom Dhanush's character has faith in, despite her insisting otherwise. Kuberaa is slated for release on 20 June and is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao of Amigos Creations.

Sitaare Zameen Par advance booking: Aamir Khan-starrer stands at Rs 2 crore with blocked seats; his war against OTTs continues

Sitaare Zameen Par advance booking: Sitaare Zameen Par is attracting all eyes not just because it marks Aamir Khan's much-awaited return to the silver screen after a three-year hiatus, but also because it marks the commencement of the Bollywood superstar's battle against the 'faulty business model' of Indian cinema, which he believes, functions according to the diktats of the OTT giants. In a strong first step, Aamir has reportedly turned down a Rs 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the film's digital rights, allowing the RS Prasanna directorial a full theatrical run without rushing to an OTT premiere. This move is aimed at boosting ticket sales by making theatrical viewing the only way to experience Sitaare Zameen Par. However, based on early trends, the plan has yet to yield favourable results as the film's momentum has been slow so far since bookings began on Wednesday morning. Also Read | Bollywood's biggest hairstylist died penniless, family was left with 'nothing to eat' despite counting Bachchans, Kapoors as friends As of 9 pm on Wednesday, the Aamir Khan-starrer has sold tickets worth around Rs 54 lakh in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, with around 19,000 tickets sold across approximately 3,800 shows. While Delhi has contributed Rs 13 lakh, Maharashtra's contribution stands at around Rs 8 lakh. The Hindi version accounts for the bulk of these numbers. Including blocked seats, the total advance booking gross in India currently stands at around Rs 2 crore. It's worth noting that Aamir Khan's last two films — Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) — despite eventually flopping at the box office, had recorded advance booking grosses of Rs 27.5 crore and Rs 5.71 crore, respectively. In comparison, Sitaare Zameen Par appears to be off to a much slower start. However, considering that the sports comedy-drama has a significantly smaller budget than his previous two outings, a direct numerical comparison would not be fair. Given the current scenario, the film's performance will hinge on two key factors: the effectiveness of the 'Hobson's choice' strategy employed by Aamir Khan Productions, and the strength of word-of-mouth from early viewers. Also starring Genelia Deshmukh, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani and Rishabh Jain, Sitaare Zameen Par is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film features music by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, background score by Ram Sampath, cinematography by Srinivas Reddy and editing by Charu Shree Roy. The movie will hit the screens on Friday (June 20).
