Kuberaa: CBFC cuts 19 scenes from Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna-starrer, grants film UA certificate
Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa, with Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The pan-India release has now been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Kuberaa has received a UA certificate from the CBFC after 19 scenes were cut from the original cut, which has trimmed the film by 13 minutes and 41 seconds. The official X account of the film shared a post which highlighted its UA certification by the CBFC. The caption of the post read, '181 minutes of drama, emotion, love, greed, thrill, and everything in between! Kuberaa - A complete U/A socio-drama that promises a fresh cinematic experience.'
The revised certification for the film, as offered by the CBFC, has now surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). According to the post shared by Andhra Box Office, 19 scenes were directed to be deleted from the film. The visuals that have been asked to be deleted feature most of the principal cast, including Dhanush, Rashmika and Jim Sarbh. As a result, Kuberaa has now been trimmed by 13 minutes and 41 seconds.
About Kuberaa
Expectations are high on the film as it's Dhanush's debut in Telugu and Sekhar's second film in Tamil after Anaamika. Dhanush plays a beggar who challenges the system's status quo, while Nagarjuna is the main antagonist. The trailer of the film was released a few days, and has already picked interest among fans, particularly for Dhanush's performance. Rashmika's character seems to be someone whom Dhanush's character has faith in, despite her insisting otherwise. Kuberaa is slated for release on 20 June and is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao of Amigos Creations.

Releasing 'Thug Life' now does not make any business sense: Karnataka distributor
The Karnataka distributor of actor Kamal Haasan's film 'Thug life' on Wednesday said he won't release the flick in the state now, despite a favourable court order as he believes it won't do good business two weeks after its release across India. Distributor Venkatesh Kamalakar's comments came a day after the Supreme Court allowed the release of the Mani Ratnam directed film, which faced opposition in the state following Haasan's controversial statement on the Kannada language. On a petition filed by a Bengaluru resident seeking the release of the film in Karnataka, the Supreme Court had on June 17 held that it is the duty of the state to ensure that a film is released in theatres once it gets a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate. Speaking to PTI, Kamalakar, the distributor of the film in Karnataka said it also does not make sense to release the film considering that Kannadigas' sentiments were hurt by what Haasan had said about Kannada language. "But mostly it is because it is not a good business decision to release the film now. His previous film 'Indian 2' also did not do well here in Karnataka," said Kamalakar. The distributor said Haasan's 'Vikram' did well in Karnataka, but he does not have a fan base here that will blindly go to his film, no matter what. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo "When it comes to his films, the success depends on how good it is. 'Thug Life' is generally considered as not a good film by many. So, it is too risky," said Kamalakar, who distributes mostly big budget Tamil films in Karnataka. According to industry sources, the distributor had already paid about Rs 9 crore as advance. Kamalakar agreed he did pay an advance amount without disclosing the amount, but said he is not anticipating any difficulty in getting it back. #BigInterview! Mohnish Bahl: I was the most experienced on 'Maine Pyar Kiya' sets, having had six flops as a hero behind me! "It is not like it is our fault. Things turned out the way it did and when there is no profit, which theatre owner will agree to showcase the film," he asked. Meanwhile, many pro Kannada outfits in Bengaluru have allegedly asked the theatres not to showcase the film despite SC's directive. On Wednesday, Bengaluru Police posted notices on the houses of several pro Kannada activists. They informed the activists that they are not allowed to protest anywhere other than the designated protest site of Freedom Park. But Praveen Shetty, one of the very vocal protesters of the statement, and who has his own faction of Kannada Rakshana Vedike, had allegedly refused to accept the notice as well as responsibility for any protests. Earlier, speaking to PTI Videos, Shetty had said that he is yet to receive the notice from the police. "But Kannadigas will not surely watch that film," he added. R T Nagar Police, under whose jurisdiction his house falls, finally posted the notice in front of his house.

Kriti Sanon Joins Dhanush For Raanjhanaa Screening; Sonam Kapoor Gives It A Miss
Last Updated: Kriti Sanon attended Raanjhanaa's fan screening with Dhanush and Aanand L Rai; Sonam Kapoor was absent. As Aanand L Rai's Raanjhanaa approaches its 12th anniversary on June 21, 2025, the film continues to resonate deeply with audiences. A special fan screening of the 2013 romantic classic was held in Mumbai ahead of the milestone, and it turned into a nostalgic evening for movie lovers. Dhanush, who played the iconic Kundan Shankar, arrived at the event along with director Aanand L Rai and actor Kriti Sanon, who will be seen next with Dhanush in Rai's upcoming project Tere Ishk Mein. Notably, Sonam Kapoor, the original film's lead actress, was missing from the celebration. On the red carpet, Kriti Sanon looked striking in a scalloped wine-hued cut-out bodice paired with a flowy coral-orange skirt. Her open hair, soft makeup, and confident aura completed the look—elegant and playful, much like her onscreen presence. Dhanush, on the other hand, opted for an effortlessly sharp black suit with a matching tee and layered necklaces. His sleeves were rolled up, adding a hint of casual charm to his tailored look. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Snehkumar Zala (@snehzala) Speaking about Raanjhanaa, Dhanush had once shared, 'Aanand Rai did not choose me for Kolaveri Di, but for my National Award-winning film Aadukalam. Frankly speaking, I did not have to go through any rigid preparation for the role." Reflecting on his Hindi dialogues, the actor recalled the challenge of dubbing all his lines, 'It was tough but the writer Hemanshu and editor Hemal guided me all through the pauses and punches." He also credited Sonam Kapoor for supporting him during filming, adding, 'She helped me understand so many things… it must have been difficult for her to act with me." Director Aanand L Rai has always believed Dhanush was the perfect choice. 'I needed someone who could look vulnerable on screen. When I saw Aadukalam, I liked him immediately—he looked honest and ordinary, which was the demand of the character," he had told India Today. Raanjhanaa was re-released in theatres on February 28, 2025, rekindling love for its music and storytelling. Rai noted, 'It's fantastic that people still listen to Raanjhanaa's music and shower the same kind of love. It's a film very close to my heart." First Published:
