Pizza Cheeks ready to serve a slice at new location
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —A pizza place in Sioux Falls is making a big move to expand its business.
While you may recognize this building as the former Kaladi's Bistro & Grill, it is now the home of Pizza Cheeks.
What's the SF retail, restaurant landscape for 2025?
'It's always been in the back of our mind as, like, if this place comes available, that would make a really great full Pizza Cheeks,' Pizza Cheeks Co-owner, Barry Putzke said.
You may recognize that name, as they originally started out in the back of The Hello Hi cocktail bar in 2020.
'It was a little bit limited in who we could reach as far as it being inside of a bar and the bar hours and things like that. So, we kind of use that as a launching pad or a stepping stone, I guess, if you will, to get our product kind of figured out and kind of get the brand established,' Putzke said.
Aside from the arcade area, the new location has other perks as well.
'We'll be able to be open for lunch now. Bar was open at 4:00 every day, so we'll be able to do lunch all the way through dinner. We'll be able to offer our own beverages, beer and wine. You know, that's something that being inside the bar that was that was theirs to sell,' Putzke said.
'The menu that was down at Hello High traveled with us, with the addition of pastas, like four pastas, appetizers, an extra salad, some desserts,' Pizza Cheeks Co-owner/ executive chef, Jordan Taylor said.
This new location will create more opportunities for the staff at Pizza Cheeks.
'I'm really proud of the recipes. It's easy. It's really delicious. And I think that it's fun to have, expanded menu. We always wanted, like, do American Italian classics, and we can do it now, and we have the space to do it,' Taylor said.
For people who cherish their pizza along with their cocktails, don't worry, they are keeping their location at Hello Hi open, but it will just be by-the-slice now.

There's a new 'Rosy's' restaurant in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —It's been over a month since Rosie's Cafe closed in Sioux Falls. Now, someone is opening a new restaurant in the same area that sports a similar name, but different meals. Just down the street from where Rosie's Cafe was located, you will now find Rosy's Tacos— a new Mexican restaurant. TenHaken wants drivers to 'feel the urge to zipper merge' 'We're gonna be serving more of, like, asada, birria, dorado, chorizo, ground beef and then hopefully a lot more throughout the time,' Rosy's Tacos, Juan Nuno said. 'Our specialty is Birria. I really love it. It's really amazing,' Rosy's Tacos, Ana Nuno said. The name is similar to Rosie's Cafe, but the owner has his own reason for calling his restaurant 'Rosy's', as it's his eldest daughter's name. 'It wasn't my intention to do it, but I mean, I had a food truck out here and when I had the food truck, I named it Rosy's food truck. So when we opened our restaurant, we decided to bring the name down to the restaurant,' Juan said. The Nunos' family wants to bring something to the neighborhood that they think will add to it's charm. 'We don't have much restaurant business close to this side of town, so it's gonna be kind of nice to have something that you can get close to it, You don't have to go all the way down to the other side of town or downtown,' Juan said. 'We hope to bring in a lot of people so that they can expand their palate or that they can see more authentic Hispanic food,' Ana said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Politically tied loan request awaits state panel's decision
PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls-based business that has significant political connections to the highest levels of South Dakota state government is seeking a $1.2 million low-interest loan from the state Board of Economic Development. The board on Wednesday delayed a decision on the REDI loan application, however, until after CoAxis Energy Company can provide additional information to the Governor's Office of Economic Development that the board has requested. The board operates as the decision-making arm of GOED. CoAxis is a liquid natural gas supplier and system designer. Its president is Scott Stern. He was GOED commissioner during the latter years of the Daugaard administration and is president of family-owned Stern Oil Company, based in Freeman. Cheyenne River Reservation authorities investigating 2 deaths Among others listed on the CoAxis website's leadership page is Dennis Daugaard, who served as South Dakota governor from 2011 through 2018. Daugaard appointed Stern in 2016 as GOED commissioner. Stern stepped down in November 2018 as Daugaard's time as governor came to a close. A business record on file at the South Dakota Secretary of State office shows that Stern established CoAxis in 2019, the year after he had returned to the private sector. The CoAxis vice president is Trent Arlint. He is married to Republican Rep. Amber Arlint. Stern is her father. Two of the state board's members, chair Jeff Erickson of Sioux Falls and Joy Nelson of Watertown, recused themselves from the discussion during the teleconference on Wednesday. Erickson said they serve on the board of directors for a bank that may be participating. Erickson, Nelson and Daugaard are directors for American Bank & Trust. Larry Rhoden appointed Daugaard's son-in-law, Tony Venhuizen, as lieutenant governor earlier this year. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
