LSU Gymnastics' Kailin Chio was named SEC Freshman of the Year. She also earned places on the 2025 All-SEC team alongside three of her teammates and the All-Freshman team.
Chio is the fourth gymnast in program history to win the award. She follows Haleigh Bryant (2021), Kiya Johnson (2020), and April Burkholder (2003). Bryant, Aleah Finnegan and Konnor McClain join Chio on the All-SEC team.
In her historic debut season, Chio competed in the all-around in every meet for the Tigers. She recorded season highs of 10 on vault, the first perfect score of the season by a freshman, 9.950 on bars and beam, and 9.975 on floor. Her season-high of 39.800 in the all-around is the best by a freshman in LSU history and nationally this season.
Chio ranked top-10 nationally for eight out of 12 weeks of competition, even claiming the top spot on vault for two weeks. She currently ranks in the top 20 with a 9.9 or better in every event. Her nine wins for SEC Freshman of the Week set the conference record.
In the 2025 SEC championships, Chio finished in the top 10 for three of four individual events and the all-around. She placed second on the floor with a 9.950 and fourth in the all-around with a 39.650.

Where Mark Richt, Kirby Smart rank among the 2000s top college football coaches
The Athletic released their top 25 coaches of the 21st century and the Georgia Bulldogs had two of their three coaches from the 21st century earn spots on the list. Georgia coaches have garnered 258 wins since 2000, the fifth most wins of any team in the nation behind Oklahoma, Boise State, Alabama and Ohio State. That's not to mention the amount of drafted players Georgia has had in the 21st century. Both of Georgia's highly-ranked coaches (Mark Richt and Kirby Smart) have ushered in eras of impressive growth and domination. Where Georgia Bulldogs coaches rank in The Athletic's top 25: September 29, 2007; Athens, GA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt follows the action against the Mississippi Rebels in the fourth quarter at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs defeated the Rebels 45 to 17. Mandatory Credit: Dale Zanine USA TODAY Sports Copyright (c) 2007 Dale Zanine Record: 145-51 Richt was hired by the Georgia Bulldogs after six stellar seasons as Florida State's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. He took a Georgia team struggling to meet expectations and while he never made a national championship with Georgia, he raised the expectations tremendously. In 2007, the Bulldogs finished as the No. 2 team in the country, and in 2012, they were only five yards and potentially one play away from winning the SEC and going to the national championship. It's a shame he only coached with Georgia for two years of the College Football Playoff era. Advertisement He also earned props for his time at Miami, coaching the Hurricanes to two top-20 finishes and the No. 2 ranking at one point in 2017. "The only thing holding Richt's resume back was never winning the Big One," said Chris Vannini of the Athletic. Accomplishments: Two SEC championships, eight top-10 finishes, four BCS/NY6 appearances, 18 bowl games No. 4: Kirby Smart (2016-present) Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart gives a thumbs up Record: 109-19 It speaks to how good Kirby Smart is that the odds are in his favor to reach 100 wins in his tenure before reaching 20 losses. Kirby is the highest active coach on this list for good reason. In just eight years with Georgia, he transformed the team from perennial teases to championship contenders. He led Georgia to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022, which is an unbelievable feat considering the history of Georgia Bulldogs football and Georgia sports in general. Advertisement His biggest flaw as a coach was usually failing to win against his old team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and his old coach, Nick Saban. However, Smart got the best of Saban in the 2021 national championship, officially cementing him as one of the best coaches of not just the 21st century, but all time. Smart is ranked behind just Pete Carroll (No. 3), Urban Meyer (No. 2) and Nick Saban (No. 1). Report: Orlando acquires Desmond Bane from Memphis for Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four firsts
Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman said this offseason it was time to 'turn the page' on the Magic's rebuild and become a win-now team. On Sunday he did just that, agreeing to a trade that is all-in: Memphis is trading guard Desmond Bane to Orlando for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round picks and one first-round pick swap, reports Shams Charania of ESPN. The first reaction to this trade: Bane is a perfect fit for what Orlando needs, but that is a very steep price to pay. Orlando needs shooting more than anything and Bane brings that, knocking down 39.2% of his 3-pointers last season, and for his career is a 41% shooter from beyond the arc. More than just a gunner, Bane was a secondary shot creator in Memphis who averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists a game last season. Put him next to a healthy Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner and the Magic offense should make a leap from its 27th-in-the-league ranking a year ago, especially with Banchero and Wagner setting screens for Bane (that will be very difficult to defend). Bane is also a solid defender who will fit in with the Magic's elite unit on that end. Weltman and Orlando surveyed the East, saw that it feels more wide open in the wake of the Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard injuries, and decided now was the time to push their chips into the middle of the table. Orlando could well be a top-four team in the East next season and a playoff threat. What is jaw-dropping about the trade is the four unprotected first-round picks. That's a lot to surrender for a player who has never been an All-Star before, especially in a trade where the Magic had to throw in two quality veterans. In Memphis, it feels like more moves are on the way, the four picks give them flexibility to make future trades to lower payroll, clearing the way for a massive Jaren Jackson Jr. extension this summer. Or, they could explore trades for Jackson and/or Ja Morant and consider a total reset (don't bet on it, but it's something to watch). \While Bane played a key role in the offense when Morant has been out, Caldwell-Pope steps in as a rock-solid starter at the two and Anthony can be a good first guard off the bench for the Grizzlies. However, it's the picks that give them flexibility to make future trades or use those picks to add depth over time.

Everything LSU pitcher Kade Anderson said after stifling Arkansas in College World Series
Everything LSU pitcher Kade Anderson said after stifling Arkansas in College World Series LSU ace Kade Anderson dazzled in LSU baseball's College World Series win vs. Arkansas on Saturday. The lefty went seven innings, allowing just three hits and one run. Anderson struck out seven and walked two. The Razorbacks' lineup is arguably the best in college baseball. It's filled with power and MLB talent from top to bottom. Apart from a sixth-inning solo home run, Arkansas had no answer for Anderson. Anderson threw 100 pitches, 60 of them strikes. Anderson was aggressive, throwing first pitch strikes to 15 of the 24 batters he faced. When hitters get behind vs. Anderson, it's tough to recover vs. his fastball/changeup combo. Anderson's performance continued to make a case as to why Anderson should be the top pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. Anderson has watched his draft stock skyrocket in recent months, and Saturday's outing will only add to the hype. LSU advances to play UCLA at 6 p.m. CT on Monday. But first, here's everything Kade Anderson said after the win. On bouncing back from last week Anderson pitched seven innings vs. West Virginia in the super regional, but he didn't have his best stuff, allowing seven runs. Here's what he said about his response. "Yeah, I think that's part of the game. And you don't take those for granted. It's a learning lesson. And to have that experience and to learn from that outing was huge because Coach Yeskie and I went through it and found out what was the plan for next week to be better. And just taking it all in. And it was a really cool moment, but just excited to win. That's all that really matters." Embracing the big moment in Omaha "Yeah, I think just taking it all in. And that's why you come here. And really just proud of our team. And at the end of the day, that's all you need to do is win. And it doesn't matter the stat line and kind of how this paper lines up. But we won the game. And that's really all I care about." Anderson and LSU take a business-like approach "Yeah, I think Coach Johnson does a really good job in preparing our team. And when you treat every game like a playoff, you get used to it. And LSUs used to being in Omaha. And that's something that we do often. We're proud to say that. But we're meant for these kind of games. And we're excited to keep going." Did Anderson look at his first game vs. Arkansas in May? "Yeah, I take every outing with a grain of salt. And just looking to prepare for the next one. Obviously, you look back a little bit, but every week's different. And kind of how they prepare as well is different. So just continuing to live in a classroom. And that's the best part of it." It's just another game "Yeah, I think, like I said earlier, we treat every game like a playoff and we'll be ready to go. We've faced them four times and I like the results of what we had. And just continuing to go out there and battle and we're not, like Coach Johnson said all the time, we're not playing Arkansas, we're playing the game. And when you take that kind of note at it, it's just another game. And I think that that playoff mindset has really helped us a lot."
