RM6.2m collected from companies with highest number of outstanding summonses: JPJ
Published on: Sunday, July 27, 2025 Published on: Sun, Jul 27, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: For illustrative purposes only. - fotoBERNAMA BANGI: Twenty-eight companies listed by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) as having the highest number of outstanding summonses have settled 34,371 summonses costing RM6.2 million, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said. The companies, 11 commercial goods companies and 17 bus operators, had reached out to the department after Transport Minister Anthony Loke gave them a two-week grace period beginning June 25 to settle their outstanding summonses, he added. 'So for the JPJ, we assist by issuing the latest records and how to settle them immediately. We do see all companies wishing to settle their outstanding issues,' he said at the media conference of the 2025 JPJ Family Day at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) sports centre here today. He thanked the companies that reached out for their cooperation, but noted that there were some others that have yet to settle their summonses but said that the department would give them a grace period of a month starting from July 9 for them to do so. 'If it remains unsettled, the JPJ will blacklist the vehicles under the companies. There are those that we have already blacklisted as they did not respond to us,' he added. He also said that commercial goods companies and bus operators were eligible for the RM150 compound rate that applies to all vehicles issued with Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) summonses. 'Companies with such summonses qualify for the same offer and we have announced on July 1 that the offer is extended to Dec 31 for three categories, the AWAS from Oct 2018 till now, Notice 114 (interview notice) and Notice 115 (request for driver details) starting from 2023,' he added. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Free Haircuts, Oil Change Services Draw Crowds At Bakti Komuniti MADANI Programme
Free haircuts and oil change services were among the main crowd-pullers at the Bakti Komuniti MADANI programme here, held ahead of the 2025 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign launch tomorrow. MUAR, July 26 (Bernama) -- Free haircuts and oil change services were among the main crowd-pullers at the Bakti Komuniti MADANI programme here, held ahead of the 2025 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign launch tomorrow. Ulo Barber owner Mohd Hilmi Hassan, 47, from Parit Jawa said he and his four workers were very busy as many people came for haircuts since the service started at 10 am. 'By 12.15 pm, we had already served over 60 people of different ages. We thought we would wrap up at noon, but had to extend the time because many were still waiting,' he told Bernama at the event held at Taman Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah. Kampung Simpang Baba village chief Hussin Limat, 65, said the long wait was worth it, as the free haircut saved money and brought people together. 'I waited almost an hour because of the queue, but I think this is a very good programme. Even though it seems simple, it gives real benefits to the community,' he said. Mohd Muizzudin Mohd Nordin, 15, a student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Maahad Muar, said he arrived as early as 8 am after learning about the free haircut service through a WhatsApp group. 'This free service really helps, especially for students like me. At a regular barber shop, it would cost around RM10 to RM20, so I didn't want to miss the chance. It's a great way to save and be presentable in time for National Month,' he said. Meanwhile, GiatMARA Bakri manager Affandi Abdul Rahim said all 60 bottles of engine oil allocated for the free oil change service were used up within two hours. He said the service was carried out by eight GiatMARA trainees and attracted visitors of various races from across Muar.
