‘Feel the sweat': Red Bull's Dance Your Style East qualifier turns Roadrunner into a battleground
'You just never know what to expect,' Valdez said. 'None of it is planned, which is the beauty of it. The authenticity in the moment, how the dancers are connecting, not only through their movement but to the musicality, the audience energy.'

This year, performers will be accompanied by the musical stylings of the Boston-based brothers and DJs Muyi Fre$co and Noma Nomz, known as the
'It's cool to see how people bring their different dance styles together and make it all work based on the music that they're hearing,' Muyi Fre$co said.

Together, the three will guide audiences through a night of spontaneity and a celebration of dance. Valdez likened the competition's energy to a scene in the 2004 dance film
Like in the movie — which centers on the lead-up to a dance crew competition in Los Angeles — at Dance Your Style, the audience circles the competitors as they perform, Valdez explained. The freestyles aren't presented on stage; the battleground is the Roadrunner floor. They're able to feel the energy, the dancers' movements, and 'if you're right there in the first row, you might feel the sweat dripping on you.'
In each round, the audience determines the winner, and Valdez emphasized the importance of dancers connecting with the crowd.
'Everything counts in that moment, in that space,' she said.

Logan, a self-proclaimed 'fully trained wiggler' who specializes in popping, said she tries to stay as present as possible while dancing. Last year, she'd been so focused, she didn't know she'd made it to the national finals in Atlanta until someone told her.
Logan said she learned 'crowd control' was about teaching the audience to feel what she was feeling.
'So, if that's like over exaggerating my head when I breathe, or if that's like getting closer to the ground, whatever that is,' she said. 'It's just a matter of being like, I need to feel more so they could feel something.'

As the competition approaches, Valdez said she's seen competitors — not just the winners — go on to have fulfilling dance careers, using the attention they garnered from the competition to teach workshops, headline events, and more.
'I think that these types of events are great events to bring a spotlight to the talent here in Boston, which is not always highlighted,' Valdez said. 'So, I'm glad that we get to have something that folks can come to and look forward to as an entertainer here.'

Report: Boston Celtics looking to move Anfernee Simons before 2026 NBA trade deadline
Don't get used to having Anfernee Simons around too much, Boston Celtics fans. The Stein Line's Jake Fischer recently reported that the Celtics are still trying to move the former Portland Trail Blazers guard to another team. But it does not appear that the front office is in a hurry to do so, based on the framing of Fischer's report. Per the Stein Line reporter, an "expectation persists, furthermore, that Boston will continue to invite trade discussion involving Anfernee Simons from now through next season's trade deadline." Note the phrasing here -- this seems to be coming from external sources likely in talks at some point over the course of the 2025 NBA offseason to such an effect. This tracks with how the Celtics tend to operate, rarely leaking news about their plans themselves. Fischer's report had a few other nuggets related to Boston's offseason to date, including the fact that the Celtics unsurprisingly spoke with a number of teams about moving reserve forward Georges Niang before Boston ultimately dealt him to the Utah Jazz with a pair of seconds for cap savings for two way wing RJ Luis Jr. Per Fischer, the Jazz plan to hang on to Niang for the short term at least, and the Golden State Warriors remain locked in a "staring contest" with forward Jonathan Kuminga. While not mentioned directly in the piece by Fischer, said deadlock is likely holding up another of the last of Boston's offseason business, namely the free agency of vet big man Al Horford. It is all but certain Horford is gone to the Dubs, but until Kuminga's situation sorts itself out, the thinking is that Horford will have to wait to sign with his new NBA home. Retirement or perhaps taking a darkhorse offer out of impatience with the situation remain as less likely outcomes, but there has been little reporting hinting this might actually take place. Laureano singles in Bogaerts in the 10th as the Padres walk-off the Red Sox, 5-4
Michael King, who has been out since May 18 with a shoulder injury, will make his return to the mound Saturday against Boston. Eric Samulski previews what fantasy managers can expect from the 30-year-old going forward. SAN DIEGO (AP) Ramón Laureano singled in Xander Bogaerts from second base with no outs in the 10th inning and the San Diego Padres beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4 on Saturday night. With runners on first and second and the infield drawn in, Laureano, obtained from Baltimore at the trade deadeline, hit a chopper off off Garrett Whitlock (5-2) over third baseman Alex Bregman into left field. Bogaerts, who had a big game against his former team, scored. Boston's Roman Anthony tied it in the ninth when a ground-rule double off All-Star closer Robert Suarez that brought in Ceddanne Rafaela. Bogaerts homered, had an RBI single and walked. Manny Machado cost San Diego at least one run with a failed hidden-ball trick before Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito walked in two straight runs during a fifth-inning meltdown that gave the Padres the lead. With the Red Sox leading 3-2, Giolito allowed Fernando Tatis Jr.'s leadoff single in the fifth and then retired Machado and Luis Arreaz. But he then walked four straight batters, including Ryan O'Hearn and Ramón Laureano with the bases loaded, and was lifted. Giolito walked Jackson Merrill on four straight pitches, threw only one strike to Bogaerts and O'Hearn and went to a full count against Laureano. He allowed four runs and five hits, walked six and struck out one. Bogaerts, who signed a $280 million, 11-year free agent deal with the Padres in December 2022, homered leading off the second, his 10th, to tie it 1. He singled in Arraez with two outs in the third to pull the Padres to 3-2. With one out in the top of the third, Jarren Duran took his lead off third base and Machado still had the ball after Alex Bregman was caught in a rundown on the previous play. With reliever Wandy Peralta on the rubber, Machado tagged Duran, who pointed to the mound. Third base umpire Scott Barry called a balk, and Duran scored to give Boston a 2-1 lead. Trevor Story moved from second to third. By rule, the pitcher cannot be on the rubber for a hidden-ball trick to be legal. If another player tags a runner while the pitcher is on or straddling the rubber, it's a balk. Masataka Yoshida then hit a grounder to bring in Story and make it 3-1. Laureano's winning single. Padres relievers Jeremiah Estrada, Adrian Morejon, Mason Miller, Suarez and Jason Adam (7-3) combined for 13 strikeouts from the fifth through 10th innings. Red Sox RHP Brayan Bello (8-5, 3.03 ERA) and Padres RHP Dylan Cease (4-10, 4.60) are scheduled to start Sunday in the series finale.
