Last week Meg's ruthless Diana cosplay came to a head.
The privacy-loving star, who bravely fled to sun-kissed California to escape pubic scrutiny, posted a series of Instagram posts, documenting her private family's trip to secluded Disneyland for daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday.
One photo recreated one of Diana's most famous, and endearing, pics — that of her getting soaked on Thorpe Park's Log Flume in the Nineties
It is just the latest in what appears to be a concerted, some might say cynical, Diana-inspired publicity drive.
Facing an uphill battle in her bid to become the People's (excommunicated) Princess, over the past few months Meghan has gone into overdrive with her comms team. Indeed, she now has enough sycophantic staff to field a football team.
Last month, Forbes reported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had added an entire PR agency, Method Communications, to their roster, and appointed a new director of comms.
It comes weeks after grandiose Meghan appointed a chief of staff, as if she were operating out of the White House, not Disney. She also has spokespeople based in both London and LA.
It is hardly a coincidence, then, that her latest push for global impact has seen her mirroring the late, great Princess Di.
(A woman who, TBF, I believe would have adored Meghan.)

Meg has long worn her priceless Cartier Tank watch — a gift from Harry — but in February the cosplaying really began.
First came a near-identical purple Midwestern college sweatshirt, and then more recently the feverish Insta activity.
Last week her widely-debated, labour-inducing hospital twerk alongside hoody-wearing Harry could be compared to ballet-loving Diana's infamous 1985 dance with Wayne Sleep.
Just as Diana's twirls made global headlines — infuriating then husband Charles at the same time — so Meghan's slut-dropping divided royal fans.
Unquestionably the American actress, who appears to have put her philanthropic efforts on the back burner, is now an influencer. She reportedly plans to bring out a nice rose soon.
Meghan's Oprah was Diana's Martin Bashir — except the latter was tricked into going on national television to tell all. Meghan hopped on that garden wicker chair quicker than you can say 'Mickey Mouse'.
Single-handedly reversed public opinion
While Diana certainly courted the Press at times, she also, certainly in the case of her 1997 landmine walk, put herself on the front line to do good.
She shook the hands of Aids patients at a time when people were cruelly demonising those with HIV, and single-handedly reversed public opinion.
In contrast, Meghan and Harry preach about climate change and then hop on a pal's private jet.
Meghan bemoans socio-economic inequality while living in a 16-bathroomed Montecito mansion, and wearing Oscar de la Renta.
She now even gets a percentage of profits made from the wares she flogged.
The other problem is Meghan, who has now become a mononym — putting herself in the same category as, say Madonna, Adele and Beyonce — has 3.7million Instagram followers.
More supporters
Madonna, Adele and Beyonce have 20million, 58million and 311million followers respectively.
Vicky Pattison (5.4million), Ekin Su Culculoglu (4.2million) and Maura Higgins (4.1million) all have more supporters than Suits' most famous export.

A couple of weeks ago my key got jammed in my lock and I googled a locksmith to come out and fix it.
He arrived in an unmarked car, and proceeded to as if 'I rented or owned' and 'lived alone', and then told me that, unfortunately, as bad luck would have it, I had an exceptionally complicated lock.
Then, £1,117 later, the f***er left.
I had a little cry.
The company, for those interested, was called Masterit.
A quick Google search would have told me they have unanimously terrible reviews online, and have apparently exploited countless other poor/stupid souls.
Obviously they won't now respond to emails or calls, and my insurance company will only pay out £200. I feel like a fool.

What happens when a fan gets too close? ‘Lurker' explores the dark side of celebrity
Fandom is a funny thing in the age of social media. Spend enough time scrolling and it's easy to feel like you really know a celebrity, and all their friends. The new film 'Lurker,' a Sundance breakout in theaters Friday, explores the question of what might happen if a certain type of fan got a foot in the door, and what they might do to stay there. Archie Madekwe's Oliver hardly knows what's coming when he walks into a trendy Los Angeles clothing shop. A rising music star, Oliver seems already accustomed to a certain amount of attention wherever he goes, with asks for selfies and autographs just part of the deal. So of course he's taken aback when one of the employees, Théodore Pellerin's Matthew, doesn't seem to know or care who he is. Oliver doesn't see that it's an act and is soon asking this stranger to come around and hang with his entourage. 'At the beginning Matthew thinks Oliver has this god-given place of celebrity and success,' Pellerin said. 'He quickly understands that he will have to give things to serve a certain purpose in Oliver's world and his ego. But also that they're not dissimilar. They're both playing by a certain rule book that is written by Oliver. If the power becomes Matthew's, he can also write the rules.' A hot script and a first-time filmmaker The film is the directorial debut of Alex Russell, whose own star is rising. He wrote 'Forks,' widely considered one of the best episodes of 'The Bear,' and won an Emmy for co-executive producing the Netflix series 'Beef.' His script for 'Lurker,' which he wrote sort of as a challenge for himself during COVID lockdowns, immediately became a hot commodity. Madekwe remembers being bummed when he didn't hear back after he put himself on tape to play the hanger-on. A few years later, Madekwe's agent called and said Russell wanted to meet him. Not for Matthew, but for Oliver. 'I had to completely rethink the film and the structure and the what it was about,' Madekwe said. 'But it was most daunting to imagine myself needing to go and meet Alex and convince him that I could play somebody like this cool character.' He needn't have been so worried. Unbeknownst to Madekwe, Russell had been doing some stealth behind-the-scenes work. After someone recommended his name, Russell saw Madekwe in a coffee shop one day and just watched him for 20 minutes. His conclusion: This is Oliver. A charmed production of young creatives Russell was cognizant of the limitations he was faced with as a first-time director making an independent film, where things like casting and hiring are often rushed. 'My goal was to get what I felt like were underrated actors,' Russell said. ' People who could come in and really hit it out of the park. Then people would look at this movie and be like wow they really took a step up here. That's kind of where you can punch above your weight if you're making your first movie and don't have a huge budget.' It wasn't just his leads either, but the full ensemble including Sunny Suljic, Havana Rose Liu, Zack Fox and Daniel Zolghadri — faces you might recognize, but names you might not yet know. Putting it together was hard work, with strict limits on budget and time, but Russell said the experience of 'Lurker' was charmed nonetheless. 'It's only because I got so lucky with decisions I made early on with casting and hiring,' he said. 'So much of it is like I'm just a kid with a screenplay and everyone else has to be really good at their job.' When it came to directing the actors, he had a simple litmus test: 'Do I believe it? 'You're watching the monitor and like do I buy that? Because everyone else is going to have to,' he said. 'I just think my cast was very good. I didn't have to force any performance.' Often times Russell's friends in the music world would come around set, giving the off camera times a bit of a meta quality. 'It didn't feel a little like the movie sometimes, like just like a group of like young creatives,' Pellerin said. 'There was a real LA film and music scene that was very present. That was helpful for me — it was like the fun aspect of the movie, not the hard-core humiliation.' Many involved describe the process as uniquely collaborative. Madekwe also stepped up as a producer, which wasn't just a vanity title. He was actually involved in many major creative decisions, including recommending Suljic, who he'd just worked with on a music video, and finding locations and some of the music for the film, including a song called 'Love and Obsession,' written by Rex Orange County. An obsessive thriller for the parasocial age 'It's an incredibly important film for now,' Madekwe said. 'The relationship that we have with people that we don't know? I think that conversation is really interesting and exciting. But most importantly, I think it's really exciting to be at the beginning of Alex Russell's career and to invest into a filmmaker that I think is gonna be making incredible films for a very long time.' The film shares some DNA with what Russell calls 'obsessive thrillers' like 'Whiplash' and 'Black Swan.' In 'Lurker,' he wondered 'what if the drumming was social climbing.' The power shifting power dynamics between Matthew and Oliver aren't just relevant to celebrities and hangers on. It could apply to any group of friends. As Russell explained: 'You get a text from your new shiny friend and a text from your old friend: Who do you text back first?'

Dr. Phil sued by Christian broadcaster for ‘reprehensible conduct' in $500 million deal: ‘Years-long fraudulent scheme'
The fraught bankruptcy proceedings for Dr. Phil McGraw's 'anti-woke' Merit Street Media have taken another dramatic turn as his broadcasting partner is suing the company and McGraw for fraud and breach of contract. The lawsuit filed by the Trinity Broadcasting comes just a month after Merit Street filed for bankruptcy and sued the Christian television network, accusing TBN of 'sabotage' because it 'reneged on its obligations and abused its position as the controlling shareholder of Merit Street.' Meanwhile, the countersuit by TBN – which was filed in Texas court on Tuesday – comes as Dr. Phil and his production company Peteski attempted to halt the Chapter 11 proceedings for the year-old Merit Street, claiming the legal costs of going bankrupt were too expensive. The effort to halt the bankruptcy follows the Professional Bull Riders accusing Dr. Phil of engaging in a 'bad faith' Chapter 11 filing as the bull-riding league tries to collect on the $181 million it claims is owed to them by Merit Street. 'The response to TBN legitimately and lawfully defending itself from Peteski and McGraw's bad-faith attacks is to cry foul because they do not like the true facts that they themselves now regretfully put at issue before this Court, revealing McGraw's true illicit intent and wrongful conduct which he self-described as a 'gangster move' and as '11th-hour poker,'' TBN and its attorneys state in the complaint. 'TBN now asserts its affirmative claims against Peteski and McGraw related to the years-long fraudulent scheme that they developed and executed to fleece TBN, a not-for-profit corporation, to enrich McGraw, his associates and affiliates,' the lawsuit alleges. 'TBN is confident that the truth will set it free, and result in Peteski and McGraw being held accountable for their reprehensible conduct.' Merit Street has accused TBN of failing to live up to the terms of their agreement, specifically citing the inability to secure national television distribution for the Dr. Phil-led channel. 'These failures by TBN were neither unintended nor inadvertent,' Merit Street alleges in its complaint. 'They were a conscious, intentional pattern of choices made with full awareness that the consequence of which was to sabotage and seal the fate of a new but already nationally acclaimed network.' However, TBN – which at one point owned 70 percent of Merit Street – counters that it was McGraw who created a 'false sense of urgency' when he approached the broadcaster about cutting ties with CBS and starting up his own network. All the while, TBN alleges, the MAGA-boosting TV psychologist lied about viewership numbers, advertising revenues, back catalogs, and production costs in order to quickly secure a highly lucrative $500 million, 10-year deal from the network. 'Among other things, McGraw falsely represented to TBN that CBS would pay him $75 million per year to renew his contract and TBN must (1) immediately sign some form of binding agreement with Peteski and (2) immediately pay him $20 million as a gesture of good faith to show TBN's ability to pay and commitment to the deal,' the complaint states. 'Anything less, McGraw claimed, would be a 'deal killer.' TBN relied on McGraw's false assurances and proceeded with the requested urgency.' Dr. Phil, who had hosted a syndicated television show for roughly 20 years at that point, also told Trinity that he 'wanted to change networks because of what he perceived to be CBS's censorship,' explicitly saying: 'I don't want snot nose lawyers telling me what I can and can't say on TV.' McGraw also allegedly said that he was looking to move his show from California to Texas, where TBN is located, in order to lower production costs by avoiding California regulations and cutting payroll by ridding himself of union-based employees. At the same time, in order to further entice Trinity into a deal, Dr. Phil represented that he owned the entire 21-year media library for his syndicated show and that TBN would have access to it at no additional cost. However, according to the complaint, McGraw hired dozens of employees from his previous show despite the agreement to slash production costs. On top of that, TBN alleges, Peteski – which owned the other 30 percent of Merit – failed to make payments on its interest in the company. Furthermore, while the agreement called for Dr. Phil to produce 160 90-minute episodes of his new primetime show to be aired on Merit Street, TBN claims McGraw never made good on that promise, instead keeping the program in its current hour-long format. A spokesperson for McGraw, meanwhile, stated that the host recorded 214 new episodes of Dr. Phil Primetime, adding that 'to say otherwise is absolutely false.' Elsewhere in the complaint, Trinity claims that McGraw demanded more money – despite TBN already expending tens of millions of dollars establishing his show on the new network – after the broadcaster asked to use the library content to fill out airtime on Merit Street. 'This, among other things, prompted TBN to press McGraw to live up to his representation that he would contribute the Dr Phil Show library to Merit Street,' the lawsuit states. 'Despite his previous representations, McGraw and his attorneys at Manatt informed TBN for the first time that McGraw would not contribute any old episodes of the Dr. Phil Show to Merit Street for Peteski's 30% or otherwise,' the complaint continues. 'Instead, McGraw brazenly demanded that TBN pay him $100 million to obtain a 50% interest in the media library.' As for Merit Street's bankruptcy, which was filed last month, TBN says the Chapter 11 proceedings weren't approved by its board members while accusing McGraw of plotting to use the bankruptcy to start a new media venture and snag the license for his show. Meanwhile, the bankruptcy judge presiding over the case said on Tuesday that the Chapter 11 proceedings will continue for now, adding that the court will decide on September 2 whether to dismiss the filing or convert it to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. 'The judge has initially sided with Trinity Broadcasting Network and Professional Bull Riders, stating that Merit Street is at fault for delaying the case by resisting discovery and it is therefore not going to fund what Trinity and PBR call a 'giant litigation war chest' for the company's professionals,' Sarah Foss, Head of Legal at Debtwire, explained to The Independent. 'The discovery resistance may be tied to reputational concerns from Dr. Phil, and what might be revealed in text messages or emails that come out in the discovery process,' Foss continued, adding: 'Notably, the judge overseeing the bankruptcy denied a request from Merit Street's bankruptcy counsel, Sidley Austin, to withdraw from the case before that hearing, despite being owed $3.7m in unpaid legal fees and a lack of funds to pay the lawyers for their work representing the company at the hearing.'
