Broncos Suggested to Trade for Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier

Broncos Suggested to Trade for Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Despite Sean Payton's promise to get Audric Estime more touches in 2025 and the excitement around rookie RJ Harvey, the running back position is one of the weaknesses of the Denver Broncos.

This suggested trade would add a proven lead back to the mix, give Harvey time to develop, and add overall depth and talent to the position.
Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport suggested the Broncos could trade for Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier.
Allgeier is entering his fourth year in the league, and after a stellar rookie season, his numbers have diminished. However, it's not because of a lack of talent on his end, it's because of the emergence of eighth-overall pick Bijan Robinson.
As Davenport stated in his explanation, Robinson became a true workhorse for the Falcons last season. He garnered 365 touches, which was second in the league behind Saquon Barkley.

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski added that the Falcons should explore trading the fourth-year running back because he has no incentive to sign an extension with Robinson as the workhorse in the backfield.
Sobleski believes Allgeier has the workhorse ability, and the Falcons could get a Day Two pick for the back.

In the one year Allgeier had the opportunity to be the lead back, he excelled. In his rookie season, Allgeier had 210 carries for 1,035 yards.
If you look back at college, Allgeier ran for 2,736 yards and 36 touchdowns in his final two years at BYU. That describes a workhorse pretty clearly.

This would make sense for the Broncos in the short term, but they'd likely look for Estime or Harvey to pay off in the long term.
Estime had a slow rookie season, but Payton believes with adequate volume, he can make strides in 2025. As for Harvey, there's plenty of hype around the second-round draft pick.
The addition of Allgeier would give the Broncos a proven workhorse, but could it slow the progression of their last two draft picks at the position?
Allgeier does have the potential to be a starter in the NFL, and the Broncos, while full of potential, are one of the weaker proven backfields in the league.

The suggested trade would add depth and strength to the position, but it would come at a cost.

Ricky Rubio Reacts to Retirement Rumors After Timberwolves Post

Ricky Rubio Reacts to Retirement Rumors After Timberwolves Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Minnesota Timberwolves star Ricky Rubio isn't hanging it up just yet. Despite reports that interpreted a full-page ad that the 12-year NBA veteran put in the Minnesota Star Tribune as a farewell, Rubio clarified his intent behind the message. Former Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky RubioSergio Estrada-Imagn Images Rubio, who has not played a game of basketball in a year since his team in the Spanish league, Liga Endesa, lost in the semifinals. He spent a year reflecting on his career, prompting a profound thank you to the community that supported him in the NBA. Teasing his message of gratitude on X, Rubio wrote the following, which was taken as a hint of his retirement: "I took this year to reflect on my career and my life, and I've realized that if I've gotten to where I am today, it's not because of the assists I've given, but because of the assists I've received," he wrote. "This isn't a goodbye, it's a thank you to all the people who have helped me along the way." However, upon an outpouring of reactions to the post, Rubio released a formal statement from a communication agency to clarify that he is not retiring just yet. Advertisement From the agency, per Spanish news outlet Todo Alicante: "This is not a farewell. It's just a thank you. It comes from my year of reflection, and I felt like doing something that is rarely done: thanking those who have been or are important to you. But it has no other message. I still don't know what will happen with my career. That will be the next thing to think about. This is something that comes from within now, and I want to express it while I am still professionally active, although forced to stop due to health issues," The message comes now because I have had enough time to think about everything I have done, and I have realized that what I have achieved is thanks to many people. And I wanted to thank them, massively. One never thanks enough, and doing so by reviewing both my journey as a person and a professional helped me convey it to everyone You all know that certain family moments marked my career, that my mother's illness and passing were very hard, that many mental health issues followed, and that I have not turned that into a taboo subject. Precisely for that reason, I left the national team call-up, spent 6 months taking care of myself, tried to return with FC Barcelona, and had to stop again. Undoubtedly, this has led me on a journey and personal introspection from which this gratitude emanates. Rubio appears to be looking for more opportunities to play basketball, although he last played in the NBA two years ago for the Cleveland Cavaliers. A fan favorite and galvanizing figure through a dim era for the franchise, Rubio played six seasons for the Wolves before he was traded to the Utah Jazz in 2017. He returned for one season and was an early mentor to Anthony Edwards. Buffalo Bills Added 'Summer Breakout Candidate'

Buffalo Bills Added 'Summer Breakout Candidate' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills are trying to make their way to the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance in 30 years. General manager Brandon Beane has been wheeling and dealing this offseason trying to construct the best possible roster they can to bring the Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo. Advertisement Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine identified each NFL team's most important position battle and breakout candidate, with both categories directly tied to moves Beane has made this offseason. The Bills' top summer breakout candidate is former Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Joshua Palmer. "Josh Palmer might not be a breakout player in the traditional sense, but he's someone who could have a bigger impact than most are anticipating." Ballentine wrote. "General manager Brandon Beane was adamant that the Bills had the right receivers on the roster after the draft. Adding Palmer is one of the reasons why." Ballentine believes that playing next to Josh Allen specifically can help elevate Palmer's production to the next level. Advertisement "He already has four years of NFL experience, including a 769-yard season in 2022." Ballentine noted. "But he's still just 25 years old, and playing in a more established offensive ecosystem in Buffalo with Josh Allen could see him reach a different level." Ballentine drew attention to the cornerback position as the most important position battle for the Bills, especially as it pertains to who starts on the outside opposite of Christian Benford. "The Bills have every right to be thinking Super Bowl, but they won't get there if they don't have the secondary to compete with elite offenses." Ballentine wrote. "That's one of the biggest questions heading into summer team activities. Specifically, who is starting across from Christian Benford?" The Bills brought back a pair of veterans in Dane Jackson and Tre'Davious White, while also drafting a pair of cornerbacks in Maxwell Hairston and Dorian Strong, meaning there's a lot of possibilities for how the battle could shake out. Advertisement "Rasul Douglas manned the spot last season, but he struggled late in the season and hasn't been re-signed." Ballentine pointed out. "Ideally, Hairston would be able to win the job as a first-round pick. That would go a long way toward helping fans forget about the Kaiir Elam experience."
