CNA6 days ago

Is the one and only D-O double G going to Dance The Night Away this July? That's what fans are asking after iconic rapper Snoop Dogg reposted a teaser of K-pop girl group Twice's upcoming album, This Is For, on his Instagram page.
On Sunday (May 25), the 53-year-old Emmy winner shared a post from American producer Dem Jointz featuring the teaser trailer of Twice's This Is For, which will be out on Jul 11.
Dem Jointz is a longtime collaborator of Snoop Dogg, having worked together on the 2015 album Compton and the 2024 track Gangsta Pose.
In recent years, Dem Jointz has racked up an impressive discography within the K-pop scene – having composed the megahit Aespa song Supernova and Gold by Itzy.
Snoop Dogg himself is no stranger to K-pop, having worked with Girls' Generation on a remix of The Boys, singer Psy on the song Hangover and with BTS and Benny Blanco on the 2022 track Bad Decisions.
A potential collaboration between Twice, Snoop Dogg and Dem Jointz would follow on the heels of the nine-member group's recent works with Western artistes, including 2024's Strategy with rapper Megan Thee Stallion and the remix of Coldplay's We Pray which was released in April this year.

Scottie Scheffler ties with Woods after defending Memorial Tournament title, won 16th PGA Tour victory

U.S.A: Golf star Scottie Scheffler recently claimed his 16th PGA Tour title and made history by becoming the second player after Tiger Woods to defend his title at the Memorial Tournament. At Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, the 28-year-old American golfer earned his third victory in just one month, with a two-under-par 70 to end the tournament at 10-under 278. This latest victory at the Memorial Tournament, an event hosted by golf legend and 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus, marks the ninth straight time that Scottie Scheffler has converted a 54-hole lead into a win. Second place was won by American Ben Griffin, who won last week at Colonial. He was four shots behind Scheffler with a final score of 282 after a round of 73. Moreover, Austria's Sepp Straka won third place at 283, just one stroke ahead of Canada's Nick Taylor. With this, Scheffler expressed: ' It's always a hard week to play this tournament… I battled really hard over the weekend, and Ben made things interesting down the stretch.' The athlete added, 'Overall, it was a great week and definitely proud to be shaking Mr. Nicklaus's hand at the end of another good week.' Scheffler's rise Scheffler's win at the Memorial Tournament is an addition to his remarkable athletic performance so far. Last month, he won his third major title at the PGA Championships, two weeks after winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Since his Byron Nelson Classic win, the golfer has now earned $9,627,000 (A$15 million or S$13 million) in prize money. Furthermore, Scheffler has become the fourth-fastest player to reach the milestone of having 16 PGA Tour victories in under three and a half years. He trails after golf legends Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods. Woods was also known for winning the Memorial Tournament three consecutive years from 1999 to 2001. With his impressive plays, Scheffler remains a man to beat as the U.S. Open at Oakmont is fast approaching. There, the athlete will aim for his fourth career major title, and his second straight after winning the PGA Championship. In a social media post made by the PGA Tour, it stated: 'Back-to-back at Jack's Place 🏆🏆 @ joins @TigerWoods as the only consecutive winners @MemorialGolf.' Netizens expressed their support in the comments section by saying: 'It's nice watching an all time great weekly. I figure this is what Tiger fans felt like in the 2000s,' 'These last three years have been the best golf that's ever been played by someone,' 'NO ONE can beat this man right now,' 'He will be one of the best golfer ever…nice person as well 👏👏,' and 'Best golfer of our generation.' In another social media post by The Memorial Tournament, it shared photos of Scheffler holding the trophy and declared: 'Back to Back.' A netizen commented on this post and remarked: 'Nice to see someone return to greatness, it's been a long time since Tiger.'

New Squid Game trailer teases third and final season

Following up from a teaser trailer released in early May, Netflix has just dropped a new main trailer for the upcoming third and final season of the hit series Squid Game. The final season of the global phenomenon is set to premiere on Jun 27 on the streaming service and based on the new trailer released on Sunday (Jun 1), it promises to be a thrilling and emotional finale, with high stakes, plot twists and new games. The trailer opens with the haunting children's rhyme "Knock, knock, who is it?" as horrified players hide behind the towering legs of the iconic Young-hee doll – the deadly giant from season 1's Red Light, Green Light game. This time, however, the game takes on an even more sinister turn. Instead of an open field, it's set in a room filled with colourful illustrations. At the centre stands the eerie Young-hee doll holding a rope, teasing deadly new challenges such as jump rope. Gi-hun is also seen screaming in anguish, 'Why didn't you kill me? Why did you let me live?', as he grapples with guilt at the death of his best friend, Jung Bae, during the deadly rebellion that occurred in season 2. The trailer builds up to a powerful climax with Gi-hun clad in a sleek black suit, seemingly stepping into a final confrontation with the Front Man, who asks the question: "Number 456, do you still have faith in people?"

NewJeans responds to latest court ruling on independent activities

The legal representatives of K-pop girl group NewJeans have responded to a recent court ruling which stipulated that each of the group's five members would have to pay 1 billion won (US$726,800) every time they engage in activities without the approval of South Korean music label Ador. After unilaterally ending their contracts in November 2024, citing workplace harassment and other issues, NewJeans carried out numerous independent activities, including opening a separate Instagram page, providing free food to protestors in South Korea last December, rebranding to NJZ and performing at the pop culture festival ComplexCon Hong Kong in March this year. In January this year, Ador filed an injunction to halt NewJeans' independent activities, which the Seoul Central District Court granted on Mar 21 – days before the group's ComplexCon Hong Kong performance. After their ComplexCon performance, NewJeans declared that the group will go on a hiatus to respect the court's ruling. NewJeans is currently appealing against the injunction. View this post on Instagram A post shared by COMPLEX 中文 (@complexchinese) On May 30, the Seoul Central District Court announced that it had accepted Ador's application for an indirect compulsory enforcement – a type of penalty imposed for not complying with a court order – against NewJeans. As such, the court declared that each NewJeans member will have to pay 1 billion won for every unauthorised activity performed from May 30 onwards. In response, NewJeans' legal team said the recent court ruling is "not related to the ongoing appeal of the original injunction decision". 'Today's indirect compulsory enforcement decision is only temporary until a ruling is made on the injunction appeal,' wrote the team. 'If the NewJeans members win the appeal, both the injunction and the indirect compulsory enforcement decision will become null and void. In practice, when an injunction is granted, a corresponding indirect compulsory enforcement order is typically issued as well.'
