Egg on a Roll sees strong start in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A new breakfast and lunch spot in Sioux Falls has only been in town for a week but already has plans to expand.
Originally from Minneapolis, Egg on a Roll opened in Sioux Falls with a soft opening last Saturday.
'Not soft at all, very busy. Over 200 sandwiches on our first day, that was no online ordering, that was just us opening the doors.' Founder Adam Bresina said. 'We're very excited to be a part of this community.'
They specialize in one thing — elevated egg sandwiches.

'So we souffle the egg. We put them on a hot surface, we use water to elevate the egg so it looks like a big patty by the time it's done,' Rory Kelly, an owner of Egg on a Roll, said. 'They sit really high, you get about an egg and a half with each sandwich so they're really hardy. Some grass-fed butter, all the ingredients are elevated too whether it's Duke's mayo, Cry Baby Craig hot sauce. We do everything fresh.'
The Egg on a Roll in the Bridges at 57th development is the first expansion for the restaurant outside of the Twin Cities.
'Sioux Falls is such a foodie community and it serves such a large community as well, just like the little suburbs outside of it that we really thought that this would be a great place to bring Egg on a Roll to,' Bresina said. 'We think that it fits in with this community very well.'
And they already have plans for another location in Sioux Falls.
'We're going to the One2 building downtown which is right next to Ace Hardware and Tommy Jacks, right on the end cap there,' Kelly said. 'Which I think will fit really well with the patterns downtown. You've got really great breakfast options there, this is just something different.'
Egg on a Roll is a grab and go restaurant concept with options to order online or in store.

There's a new 'Rosy's' restaurant in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —It's been over a month since Rosie's Cafe closed in Sioux Falls. Now, someone is opening a new restaurant in the same area that sports a similar name, but different meals. Just down the street from where Rosie's Cafe was located, you will now find Rosy's Tacos— a new Mexican restaurant. TenHaken wants drivers to 'feel the urge to zipper merge' 'We're gonna be serving more of, like, asada, birria, dorado, chorizo, ground beef and then hopefully a lot more throughout the time,' Rosy's Tacos, Juan Nuno said. 'Our specialty is Birria. I really love it. It's really amazing,' Rosy's Tacos, Ana Nuno said. The name is similar to Rosie's Cafe, but the owner has his own reason for calling his restaurant 'Rosy's', as it's his eldest daughter's name. 'It wasn't my intention to do it, but I mean, I had a food truck out here and when I had the food truck, I named it Rosy's food truck. So when we opened our restaurant, we decided to bring the name down to the restaurant,' Juan said. The Nunos' family wants to bring something to the neighborhood that they think will add to it's charm. 'We don't have much restaurant business close to this side of town, so it's gonna be kind of nice to have something that you can get close to it, You don't have to go all the way down to the other side of town or downtown,' Juan said. 'We hope to bring in a lot of people so that they can expand their palate or that they can see more authentic Hispanic food,' Ana said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Politically tied loan request awaits state panel's decision

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls-based business that has significant political connections to the highest levels of South Dakota state government is seeking a $1.2 million low-interest loan from the state Board of Economic Development. The board on Wednesday delayed a decision on the REDI loan application, however, until after CoAxis Energy Company can provide additional information to the Governor's Office of Economic Development that the board has requested. The board operates as the decision-making arm of GOED. CoAxis is a liquid natural gas supplier and system designer. Its president is Scott Stern. He was GOED commissioner during the latter years of the Daugaard administration and is president of family-owned Stern Oil Company, based in Freeman. Cheyenne River Reservation authorities investigating 2 deaths Among others listed on the CoAxis website's leadership page is Dennis Daugaard, who served as South Dakota governor from 2011 through 2018. Daugaard appointed Stern in 2016 as GOED commissioner. Stern stepped down in November 2018 as Daugaard's time as governor came to a close. A business record on file at the South Dakota Secretary of State office shows that Stern established CoAxis in 2019, the year after he had returned to the private sector. The CoAxis vice president is Trent Arlint. He is married to Republican Rep. Amber Arlint. Stern is her father. Two of the state board's members, chair Jeff Erickson of Sioux Falls and Joy Nelson of Watertown, recused themselves from the discussion during the teleconference on Wednesday. Erickson said they serve on the board of directors for a bank that may be participating. Erickson, Nelson and Daugaard are directors for American Bank & Trust. Erickson and Daugaard have also been involved with Standard Trust, a Sioux Falls-based investment company. Gov. Larry Rhoden appointed Daugaard's son-in-law, Tony Venhuizen, as lieutenant governor earlier this year. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
