Who plotted Raja Raghuvanshi's murder in Meghalaya? Shocking claims by Sonam, 'lover' Raj Kushwaha
This blame game is complicating the investigation for the Meghalaya police's Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is trying to piece together what really happened.
The SIT, under "Operation Honeymoon", has recovered necessary evidence from both Indore and Ghazipur to reconstruct the chain of events leading to the discovery of Raja's body in Meghalaya's Sohra region.
On suspicion of hiring contract killers, Sonam Raghuvanshi was flown to Guwahati late Tuesday and brought to Shillong for questioning on Wednesday.

According to a Live Hindustan report, Sonam Raghuvanshi told investigators that a group of men attempted to snatch her jewellery during the trip, and that her husband, Raja, died while trying to protect her.
She further claimed that she lost consciousness during the incident and had no recollection of how she ended up in Ghazipur.
The cops are closely examining her version of the events, believing it to be a larger part of the cover-up.

Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that 'several suspects... have confessed' and confirmed that Sonam was 'fully involved.'
Authorities suspect that after Raja's death, Sonam drove from Shillong to Guwahati, then reached Indore on May 27 by train. The next day, she went to Ghazipur, home of Raj Kushwaha, leading to her arrest on June 9.
Raj Kushwaha, who is also being questioned, has claimed that he pulled out of the trip to Meghalaya at the last moment and tried to stop the others from going too.
A senior police officer told Hindustan Times, 'Raj Kushwaha claims he didn't want to support Sonam, and at the last moment, cancelled his plan to go to Meghalaya. He also allegedly asked the three others not to go, but they went to see Meghalaya after Sonam booked the tickets.'

'Even at the last moment, the three refused to kill, but Sonam insisted and said she would give ₹15 lakh for that. Police are verifying these claims,' the officer added.
Several media reports claimed that Sonam was ready to push Raja off the cliff herself if the hired killers backed out.

Meanwhile, Sonam's father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, has accused the Meghalaya Police of framing his daughter and demanded a CBI investigation. On the other hand, Raja's mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, believes her son was tricked into travelling to Shillong under false pretences.
Raja, who got married on May 11, was reported missing along with Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. His body was found 10 days later, on June 2, in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra, East Khasi Hills district.

SIT to be set up for JSSC CGL paper leak probe: AG in HC
Ranchi: Advocate general (AG) Rajiv Ranjan informed the Jharkhand high court on Tuesday that a special investigation team ( SIT ) would be constituted to investigate the alleged leak of question papers of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination. A division bench of Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar were hearing a PIL filed by Prakash Kumar seeking a CBI probe into the leak of question papers. The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission had conducted the JSSC CGL exam, 2023, on January 28, 2024. Questions in the third paper (general knowledge) were leaked after which the Commission cancelled the paper. Furore created by the candidates led the Commission to cancel the other three papers. A total of 6.5 lakh candidates had registered for the exam for appointment of 2025 posts in the govt. AG Ranjan informed the division bench about the progress of investigation done by the CID. Expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation carried out in the matter, the court sought details from the CID in the case. The AG further told the court that a SIT of high ranking officers would be formed to scrutiny the details and compile a report on the matter. The case would next be heard after a fortnight. Dharmasthala secret burials case: BJP MP Veerendra Heggade dismisses charges against family as ‘totally baseless'
Breaking his silence on the allegations about his family in connection with the secret burials case, Karnataka BJP MP Veerendra Heggade, who is also the head of the Dharmasthala temple, said the controversy was the handiwork of people who are envious of the development work undertaken under the aegis of the renowned temple. Heggade has come under attack from a section of social media users after the Karnataka Government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into allegations made by a former sanitation worker that he had been forced to bury several bodies of suspected sexual assault victims around Dharmasthala. Heggade said that various claims made on social media had upset the devotees of the temple. 'They (YouTubers) created doubt, confusion and disturbance in the minds of these devotees,' he said, hoping that the SIT investigation would dismiss all incorrect claims made against Dharmasthala. 'It was a good decision of the Government to form the SIT. These issues were baseless,' he said. Heggade said that he was hurt by the allegations levelled against him during the ongoing probe around the temple town. 'My followers have immense faith in me. They have no doubt about the temple (Dharmasthala) or me,' he said, calling the allegations 'totally baseless'. 'It is not a moral way to fight with us.' The MP, who is a Padma Vibhushan winner, also urged the Government to initiate action against those involved in the 'smear campaign' against the town. 'People are hurt by this. The Government should take strict action,' he said. Social posts regarding investigation in the case have come under scrutiny after Heggade's family sought an injunction against over 8,000 posts, a majority of which were on YouTube and Instagram. Two groups clashed near Dharmasthala earlier this month over the allegation that YouTubers had defamed the temple town. On Monday, Home Minister G Parameshwara told the Legislative Assembly that the Government would take action against those spreading misinformation about the temple town.

When asked about a Jain family managing a Hindu temple, Heggade dismissed the controversy, pointing out that several temples in India are maintained by Jains and follow proper rituals.
