ALBAWABA - The Sudanese army announced repelling a new attack by the Rapid Support Forces on El Fasher on Saturday, according to a military source quoted by AFP.
The announcement came after the Rapid Support Forces said it took control over several key areas in the city located in western Sudan on Saturday.
It is worth noting that El Fasher is the only major city not controlled by the Rapid Support Forces in the Darfur Region, which has been under siege for more than a year amid its war with the army since April 2023.
The military source reported that the Sudanese army, supported by allied armed factions, recaptured Shalla Prison and the Central Reserve Police headquarters in the southwest of the city, inflicting "heavy losses" on the Rapid Support Forces.
Meanwhile, a source in the RSF told AFP that the latter had been in complete control of these same sites since Friday, in addition to the livestock market located south of El Fasher.

Syrian government forces seize Druze village: AFP

Syrian government forces are moving closer to the city of Suwayda, following their capture of the nearby Druze village of Al-Mazraa, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP). The reporter observed units affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense positioned inside Al-Mazraa on Monday, continuing their push toward the provincial capital. The military deployment comes amid escalating violence between Druze fighters and Bedouins that has left dozens dead in recent days. A field commander, Ezzeddine al-Shamayer, confirmed the advance, stating, 'We are heading toward Suwayda.' As chaos spread across villages near Suwayda city, the Israeli Occupation announced it had struck "several tanks" in the area, citing its longstanding pledge to intervene in Syria to defend the Druze community. The violence reportedly began on Sunday after Bedouin gunmen abducted a Druze vegetable vendor along the Damascus highway. The kidnapping sparked swift retaliatory abductions and ignited armed confrontations in multiple parts of Suwayda province. Despite hostages being released, the fighting continued into Monday, with mortar rounds hitting several villages. Streets in Suwayda city emptied, shops shuttered, and funerals for the dead were marked by sporadic gunfire.

North Korea reportedly sends 12M artillery rounds to Russia

ISTANBUL North Korea has consistently supplied Russia with more than 12 million rounds of 152 mm artillery shells to aid Moscow in its war against Ukraine, Yonhap News reported Sunday, citing South Korea's military intelligence. A report from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) shared with a lawmaker from the main opposition party said North Korea is estimated to have sent 28,000 containers filled with weapons and artillery shells. "If calculated with 152 mm single shells, (the number of supplied shells) are presumed to have reached more than 12 million," said the DIA, under the Defense Ministry. In late June, South Korea's intelligence agency claimed that North Korea is likely to send more troops to Russia in the next two months. North Korea deployed thousands of soldiers to aid Russia in the Ukraine war following the signing of a strategic partnership treaty by leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Pyongyang in June 2024. Russian security chief Shoigu said North Korea will send 6,000 personnel to Russia, including 1,000 combat engineers and 5,000 military builders, to assist in mine clearance and reconstruction efforts in the Kursk region bordering Ukraine. In April, South Korea's spy agency claimed that North Korea likely suffered 4,700 casualties while fighting alongside Russian forces in the Russia-Ukraine war, with 600 confirmed fatalities.
