Amarnath Yatra suspended due to heavy rain in Kashmir
The yatra will remain suspended from Jammu on Thursday due to the inclement weather.
'Shri Amarnathji Yatra has been suspended for July 30 from both Pahalgam and Baltal base camps,' the department of information and public relations, Jammu and Kashmir, posted on its X handle.
It said divisional commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said that due to heavy rain since early on Wednesday, the yatra has not been allowed on the tracks from Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps.
'Due to heavy rain in the yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from base camps has been affected. Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement shall be allowed towards the base camps of Baltal and Nunwan from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, on July 31,' the DIPR said.
Divisional commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said: 'In view of the inclement weather conditions on the yatra routes, as an abundant precaution, the ongoing Amarnath Yatra convoy will not move from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu on July 31.'
Due to heavy rain in the yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from base camps in Kashmir has been affected. 'Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement shall be allowed towards the base camps Baltal and Nunwan from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, on July 31,' he said.

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Shimla, Aug 3 (PTI) Moderate to heavy rains continued to lash parts of Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the closure of 297 roads, including one national highway on Sunday, officials said. The local meteorological office has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur on Monday and Una, Bilaspur, Kangra and Sirmaur on Tuesday. A person died and two others sustained injuries when their vehicle fell into a gorge following a landslide near Dargi on Sunni area of Shimla district on Sunday. The ill-fated vehicle with three people on board was on its way to to Chanog. The deceased was identified as Lekhraj (37). Vikas and Nitish are under treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital, Shimla, officials said. On Saturday evening, Dinesh Kumar (54) was killed when a bulldozer he was operating plunged into a deep gorge in Kumarsain, around 77 kilometres away from Shimla. So far, there have been 103 reported deaths due to rain-related incidents, with 36 people still missing. The fatalities include 20 drownings, 19 deaths from falls, 17 deaths from cloudbursts, eight from flash floods, and six from landslides, officials said. Since Saturday evening, several regions have experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with Bharari recording 108.2 mm, follow ed by Murari Devi with 82 mm, Naina Devi at 74.4 mm, Malraon at 56.2 mm, Brahmani at 45.4 mm, Una at 38 mm, and Jot at 36.2 mm. A total of 297 roads, including NH-505 (Khab to Gramphoo) have been closed for vehicular traffic as of Sunday evening. The majority of these, 164 roads, are in the heavily affected Mandi district, while 67 are in Kullu district, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). Additionally, 134 power distribution transformers and 266 water supply schemes have been affected across the state, the SEOC said. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20 until August 3, the state has incurred losses totalling Rs 1,714 crore. As many as 1,649 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state, with 53 flash floods, 28 cloudbursts and 47 major landslides recorded this season, officials said. Spell of heavy rainfall expected to continue for next 24-36 hours in UP

According to a press note from the meteorological department on Sunday, the active monsoon conditions are a result of a favourable synoptic situation. The monsoon trough has shifted north of its normal position, passing through Shamli, Shahjahanpur, and Lucknow. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over the northeastern part of the state, adjacent to Bihar, is contributing to the heavy rainfall. Forecasters predict that the intensity of rain will gradually decrease from August 5, though a period of heavy rainfall is likely to persist until August 6. From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, several areas recorded significant rainfall. Siddharthnagar received 96 mm, Amethi 70.1 mm, Bareilly 66.6 mm, and Kaushambi 65.5 mm. The state capital, Lucknow, recorded 61.5 mm. The rainfall caused a significant drop in temperatures, with Lucknow's maximum temperature falling to 28.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.8 degrees Celsius below normal. The forecast for Lucknow suggests moderate to heavy rainfall in most areas on Monday with temperatures expected to remain below average. Delhi sees moderate to heavy rainfall in several areas
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 3 (PTI) The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 0.7 degrees below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Heavy rains lashed the city on Sunday morning, leading to waterlogging in several areas, including Deoli, Panchkuian Road, Moti Bagh, ITO, Mukherjee Nagar and Pul Prahladpur. As per the IMD, Delhi witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall in various areas between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Mayur Vihar received the highest rainfall of 27 mm between 11.30 pm on Saturday and 2.30 am on Sunday. Pusa recorded 24.5 mm, Najafgarh 22 mm, Pragati Maidan 18.7 mm, Palam 14.2 mm, and Safdarjung 8.2 mm during the same period. Light showers were also reported from Lodi Road, Ridge, and Ayanagar. According to the weather department, rain activity had remained subdued on Friday and during the day on Saturday before intensifying late evening onwards. Between 8.30 am on August 1 and 8.30 am on August 2, Ayanagar recorded 11 mm of rainfall, followed by 4.6 mm in Safdarjung and 4.2 mm in Lodi Road. The minimum temperature settled at 24.2 degrees Celsius, 2.9 notches below the season's average. Relative humidity was recorded at 94 per cent at 5.30 pm. The air quality was recorded in the satisfactory category at 4 pm, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 79, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.
