Pak had to plead before the might of Indian Army: Modi

Kanpur, May 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised the valour of the Indian Armed forces during Operation Sindoor and said it was because of this that Pakistan had to beg to stop the war.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various development projects here, the PM reiterated that India now treats terrorists and the government that supports them alike. He said that Uttar Pradesh is moving at a fast pace towards becoming an Uttam Pradesh today.
While referring to Operation Sindoor, he said it has only been postponed and it is not over yet. "The enemy who was pleading during Operation Sindoor should not be under any illusion. This operation is not over yet," he said
Modi said, "Our army showed such valour that the Pakistani army was forced to beg and demand to stop the war."
The PM said that he salutes this valour of the Indian armed forces again and again from Kanpur, the land of the freedom struggle.
He said India has clearly laid down three principles in its fight against terror. "India will give a befitting reply to every terrorist attack, its time, method and conditions will be decided by our forces themselves. India will no longer be afraid of the threat of the nuclear bomb nor will it take any decision based on that. India will look at the master of terror and the government that patronises terrorism with the same eye."
He said, "Pakistan's game of state (government) and non-state (outside the government) actors is not going to work anymore. If I say straight in Kanpuriya that the enemy will be killed wherever he is."
The PM said, "Our Indian weapons and Brahmos missile have wreaked havoc by entering the enemy's house. We have got this strength from the resolve of self-reliant India. There was a time when India was dependent on other countries for military needs, for its defence. We have started changing those conditions." UNI XC AB SSP

Geneva: India has achieved a historic milestone in recording a 45 percentage point jump in the social security coverage of its population over the last decade to cover 94 crore people and is now being ranked second in the world on the dashboard of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). According to the latest ILO data, India's social security coverage has increased from 19 per cent in 2015 to 64.3 per cent in 2025, an unprecedented 45 percentage point surge over the past decade. ILO has acknowledged India's achievement and officially published on its dashboard that 64.3 per cent of India's population, i.e. over 94 crore people, are now covered under at least one social protection benefit. Director General ILO praised India's focussed welfare policies for the poor and labour class under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. ILO's Criteria for Scheme Consideration for each country include that the scheme should be legislatively backed, in cash and be active, and verified time series data of last three years has to be provided. While holding a bilateral discussion with the Director General, ILO, Gilbert F Houngbo on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference (ILC), India's Minister of Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the pro-poor and labour welfare schemes undertaken by the Modi government over the past 11 years. The Minister also apprised DG ILO about the national-level Social Protection Data Pooling Exercise that has been carried out by the Government in collaboration with the ILO. Mandaviya said, 'This remarkable achievement stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the relentless efforts of the Government in building an inclusive and rights-based social protection ecosystem. The increase marks the fastest expansion in social protection coverage worldwide, reflecting the Government's unwavering commitment to 'Antyodaya' i.e., empowering the last mile and fulfilling the promise of leaving no one behind.' The present figure reflects only Phase I of the data pooling exercise. This phase focussed on beneficiary data of Central sector schemes and women-centric schemes in selected 8 States.

Security tightens in Bengal's 24 Parganas after clashes between police, miscreants

Security tightened in the Rabindra Nagar area of South 24 Parganas in West Bengal on Thursday after a clash broke out between Police and miscreants yesterday. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP leaders in the state alleged that a Shiva Temple was vandalised in Ward No. 7, Maheshtala, under the Metiabruz Assembly constituency, near Rabindra Nagar Police Station. Meanwhile, Adhikari on Thursday approached the SP of Diamond Harbour Police District and DGP of West Bengal to visit Maheshtala and meet the victims of the Hindu families. In a post on X, Adhikari said the visit is a step towards understanding the grievances of affected Hindu shopkeepers and families and ensuring their voices are heard. "I have approached the SP of Diamond Harbour Police District and DGP @WBPolice so that today, I, along with one MLA can visit Maheshtala under Rabindranagar Police Station to meet and express solidarity with the victims of the Hindu families and the affected Hindu shopkeepers who came under the attack of the Jihadis yesterday. This visit is a step towards understanding their grievances and ensuring their voices are heard. "I hope that the Administration doesn't obstruct my visit," Adhikari said on X. This comes months after violence in some parts of West Bengal in the wake of protests against the Waqf Board Amendment Act. Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Tuesday said the Trinamool Congress only extends full support to terrorism and is turning the state here into a "valley of extremists". Adhikari's response came in response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's reported statement on the Pulwama attack. "TMC party extends full support to terrorism and extremists... People of Mamata Banerjee's party are turning Bengal into a valley of extremists and are protecting them," Adhikari said. The West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution conveying appreciation for the Indian armed forces for their recent action targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The resolution moved in the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday also condemned the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's (J-K) Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists.
