Man nabbed for workshop break-in, stolen hydraulic jack recovered

KUCHING (Aug 10): Police in Betong have solved a break-in at a vehicle repair workhop in Debak with the arrest of a 23-year-old man.
Betong police chief DSP Rejali Angong said the suspect was nabbed in Lalang Debak at around 11.40am on Aug 7 following an investigation into last month's incident.
'The arresting party was able to recover a hydraulic jack, which was among the items reported stolen during the break-in,' he said in a statement.
The suspect, he added, was also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and has two prior records for drug abuse and property crime.
The suspect is on remand until Aug 12 for further investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 14 years' imprisonment upon conviction.
Rejali said those with information relevant to the case can call or visit the nearest police station to assist in the investigation. break-in crime vehicle workshop

In a statement on Friday (Aug 15), he said Bukit Mertjam police received a report on Aug 12, over a video going viral on Facebook under the account in the name of "Akmal Salleh". "In the video, Akmal is said to have made a statement that could be categorised as 'hate content' which has the potential to cause unrest among the community and disrupt public peace," he said. Comm Azizee added that police have initiated an investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 506 of the Penal Code. He said the initial investigation was conducted by Penang police and the case was taken over by the Bukit Aman CID on Aug 15, adding that to date, two reports have been lodged over the matter in Penang.
