Netflix fans rave ‘you've got to see it to believe it!' as ‘amazing' period drama leaves them begging for more episodes
The show, premiering in 2014, is inspired by the legendary Venetian explorer Marco Polo, and his travels around 13th Century Asia.
It immortalises the birth of the mythic Yuan dynasty, and the reign of its founder, Kublai Khan, who brought the Mongol Empire to its peak.
The show was praised by fans for bringing Asian culture back into the zeitgeist, and has even been compared to Game Of Thrones for its fantastical cinematography.
In 2015, the series was recognised by the president of Mongolia, who bestowed the production team with an award, for their positive portrayal of Mongolian culture and history.
The starring cast includes Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco Polo, Benedict Wong as Kublai Khan, Joan Chen as Empress Chabi and Rick Yune as Kaidu.
One fan left a five-star review on Rotten Tomatoes: 'What, a, plot. What amazing character developments, the colours, the costumes, the acting, the story plot in between each character, what a VILLAIN ARC! Oh my god, you got to see it to believe this villain origin story, the cultural mix and religious fighting historical representation, the acting, the fighting scenes, the plot twists !
'The CLIFF HANGER !! The only negative thing about this season, is that it's the last. Was so annoyed to see there weren't any more with such a beautiful diversified talented and beautiful cast, plot, acting and imagery.'
The series reportedly cost Netflix $200 million over the course of the two seasons, and despite its sumptuous production values and historical intrigue, the show did not perform well enough on the platform to justify the cost.
Whilst Netflix hasn't shared viewership numbers, it was suggested that the series struggled to garner a following, and didn't achieve the desired ratings.
'Well acted and visually stunning. The second season can be better than the first, just spectacular... I just don't give 5 stars because of the ending that ends in an unexpected way, they canceled too soon!!! One of the best series ever!!!' wrote one reviewer.
'I don't know why they stopped this show. It's like Game Of Thrones but in Asia. I guess less people are interested."
In 2015, the series was recognised by the president of Mongolia, who bestowed the production team with an award, for their positive portrayal of Mongolian culture and history
However, some suggested the writing was subpar compared to the visual quality of the show,
'Amazing show at times. The writing was not equal to the show and I lost interest'
'The potential for converts isn't even up for discussion as Marco Polo delves into its byzantine, stylish second season, which has just enough nifty set pieces and cool characters to compensate (barely) for a humdrum wartime plot.'
For anyone curious to uncover the secrets of the Mongolian Empire, Marco Polo is available to stream on Netflix now.

Love Is Blind UK fans 'work out' future for favourite couple after spotting subtle sign
Fans are already having their say on the Love Is Blind UK couples *Contains spoilers for Love Is Blind UK Season 2* Love Is Blind UK fans have worked out the future of one "favourite" couple as season two is released. The highly anticipated second season of Love Is Blind UK hit Netflix today with the first four episodes now available to stream. Brand new hopefuls are taking part in the unique experiment in a bid to find their perfect match. The twist? Not being able to see their potential partner in person, instead relying on a strong emotional bond. Once that connection is secured, then the couple will take their relationship to the next stage by getting engaged - only then will they meet in person. And with the first batch of episodes dropping today, fans are already having their say on who they think will make a strong relationship, or who will ultimately leave the show in tears. Kal and Sarover have formed a connection in the pods, but due to their differing backgrounds and the fact Sarover is not Kal's 'usual type', fans fear the worst. 29-year-old medical company owner Sarover grew up in a modern Indian family and has never had a serious relationship or dated outside of her ethnic background before. Growing up, she believed that a boyfriend should be the one she intended to marry. Kal, who is 32, from Wigan, has not had a relationship last for longer than a year. His dad is Pakistani and his mother is English and he is part of a large, close-knit family. Fans have "noticed" Kal seems particularly "cold" or "uninterested" in Sarover after taking their connection to the next step and asking her to marry him. One fan said on X: "Kal better not break Sarover's heart! She's a gorgeous girl… he is giving me a bad feeling with her not being his 'type'." Another penned: "You're done - sarover." A third added: "Kal needs to stop singing about Sarover not being his type, like we get it, don't make the girl feel insecure." Over on Reddit, one person wrote: "Its pretty clear that sarover and Kal are not getting married." Another added: "He seems to be very cold towards her and she needs a reassurance she won't be getting." A third worried: "I Hope the indian/pakistani thing won't set them back." However, despite some convinced of a future heartbreak, many fans say they are "rooting" for the pair. One person said: "Kal and Sarover are such a cute couple, rooting for them so far." A third confessed: "Don't want to speak too soon but Kal and Sarover are my ship and i'll ride with them till the end." A fourth added: "Sarova and Kal are my favorites so far." What's next for Sarover and Kal? Fans will have to tune in to find out.

Groundbreaking 90s TV show is available to stream in the UK in full for free
The 90s mega-hit won dozens of awards during its original run, and the comedy-drama was known for its unique storytelling style The '90s smash hit Ally McBeal is poised for a British comeback, with Channel 4 offering the full five seasons to stream for free on their platform. The news comes as Netflix fans rejoice as Love Is Blind UK returns to screens after dramatic first season. The legal comedy-drama, which originally ran from 1997 to 2002 and launched stars like Lucy Liu and Jane Krakowski into the spotlight, is available as a full collection for both devoted fans and fresh audiences to enjoy . Calista Flockhart, who portrayed the eccentric solicitor Ally at the Boston practice Cage and Fish, fronted the programme that gained recognition for its mixture of romance, personal turmoil, and fantastical comedy, including Ally's amusing habit of tumbling when meeting a potential love match. In 2022, there were rumours that ABC was in early development of a revival of Ally McBeal, potentially following a young lawyer who joins the firm, with Calista reprising her role as Ally. Industry figures were excited about the potential comeback with a source revealing: "There has been talk of reviving Ally McBeal for years, as the central premise is so desirable to modern audiences. It's the perfect female-driven character drama, really." They continued: "Frankly, it was always ahead of its time, so execs see a reboot as a total no-brainer. They are desperate for Calista to jump on board but hope the scripts will convince her to sign up." While the programme explored legal cases, it was the characters' romantic entanglements and personal adventures, peppered with quirky and frequently surreal humour, that truly captivated viewers. 'Hilarious' 2020s comedy is an 'instant classic' and streaming for free Channel 4 viewers make same complaint about new thriller In Flight minutes after debut Since its premiere in 1997, the series received critical acclaim in its early seasons, scooping up Golden Globes and Emmy Awards. Love Is Blind UK star leaves viewers ‘feeling physically sick' as he details his VERY unique job
LOVE Is Blind UK is back - and one star has caught the attention of fans thanks to his unique life path. As the Netflix pods opened for 30 new singletons to try their luck at finding someone to marry, one star's unique job got people talking. 4 4 While introducing himself to singer Aanu, Patrick Justus revealed that he was a human design coach. Explaining it was "like a lifecoach but using a system called spiritual design', Patrick's biggest mantra in life was to "trust your spleen", noting that "splenic energy" was a bigger force than a gut instinct. Speaking in the pods to potential match Yolanda, Patrick said that he follows his spleen "literally to the second", later adding: "Listening to my spleen is the best way to find the love of his life." While it didn't win over Yolanda or another hopeful, Catherine, the idea intrigued singer Aanu, who sparked a connection with him. But viewers were left baffled by his continued discussion of his spleen in conversation – with some left turned off by the chat, despite finding Patrick charming, saying it made them feel ill. "I loveee Patrick, do you know how nice you have to be for me to ignore the fact you keep mentioning your spleen??" wrote one on X (formerly Twitter). "Please the word 'spleen' is just making me cringe and feel physically sick. How many times are we going to have to hear this nonsense" said a second. "This bloke and his damn SPLEEN, his spleen should have told him to stay home," said a third. While a fourth noted: "The moment that guy talked about following his spleen, I would have been out of there." Despite the spleen talk, Patrick and Aanu did hit it off on the show - at least to begin with. However, the pair hit a wall when Aanu admitted that she puts a lot of weight into what her mum thinks, crediting her for helping her make decisions. Love Is Blind UK: Meet the Season 2 contestants looking to find love in 2025 The comment was received badly by Patrick, who said that his "spleen was silent" and that their connected had "dipped", with her telling Aanu that she needs to learn to follow her own instincts. From that point on, they struggle to get back on track – and when Aanu decides to open up to him by writing a song for him, he ends things before she can perform it. "I don't want you to give a song to someone who is undeserving of that song," he told her. "I've enjoyed thoroughly talking to you and going through this experience with you, but I have to follow my spleen." Love Is Blind UK new episodes drop Wednesday on Netflix. 4 4
