Dog the Bounty Hunter's stepson bragged about shooting rifle with son before horror death
The stepson of Dog the Bounty Hunter had bragged about shooting guns with his son years before his tragic accidental death. Gregory Zecca, who is passionate about his love of guns, seemingly passed down his feelings to his son Anthony.
Sadly, an accident over the weekend saw Zecca's 13-year-old son shot and killed. The tragedy is said to have occurred in their apartment in Florida on Saturday.
Now, their love of guns has been made apparent in a number of past social media post. In 2021, footage showed the 38-year-old bounty hunter showing his child, who was nine at the time, how to use a rifle. The images were taken at Franktown Firearms Shooting Center in Franktown, Colorado.
In the Instagram post, which has its comments disabled, Zecca said: "Getting some range time in with our buddies @franktownfirearms."
Anthony is seen in the posts smiling as he takes aim at the targets. In another image, Zecca and his son both smile for the camera as they wear their protective ear muff and goggles while holding the firearms.
Following the tragic fatality, Dog - whose real name is Duane Chapman - and his partner Francie, released a statement to TMZ through a representative. It read: "We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony."
Gregory, who is Francie's child from a previous marriage, became part of Dog's life when he married Francie in 2021. The couple found solace in each other following the deaths of their respective spouses. Gregory is also part of Dog's bounty hunting crew, working alongside Dog and his daughter, Lyssa.
In 2020, Francie told ET of their connection: "We understood the pain that the other one was feeling, and [in] those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up.
"We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling. We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak, and it brought us together in this amazing way."
In 2023, Dog also told his followers of his secret son. The revelation came on the fourth anniversary of his late wife Beth's passing. At the time, he introduced his adult son to the world through a social media post. The image showed a well-built man dressed in a blue polo shirt and smart jeans, complete with sunglasses reminiscent of those his father famously wears.
Dog explained the tale behind his secret son would be revealed in his memoir titled Nine Lives and Counting. The reality TV star is best known for catching criminals in the US, in particular Hawaii.
