YTL Green Data Centre promotes Malaysia as AI hub
He said the data centre was the result of a strategic collaboration between YTL Power International Bhd and NVIDIA to develop AI infrastructure using green energy.
"This mega project worth RM10 billion will not only create Malaysia's own large language model (LLM), but will also stimulate the growth of local talent and expertise and generate demand for high-tech positions such as data scientists and AI engineers," he said in a post on his Facebook page.
According to Tengku Zafrul, YTL is one of five NVIDIA Cloud Partners along with other technology giants such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.
"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's meeting with NVIDIA boss Jensen Huang was not just an empty chat. From potential, we make it a reality!" he added.

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo (Reuters) -Self-driving vehicle startup Nuro closed its late-stage funding round on Thursday, raising $203 million at a $6 billion valuation from new investors Uber and Nvidia alongside returning backers. The latest tranche of $97 million follows the $106 million announced in April, which included investors such as T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, and Tiger Global. The company's valuation in the latest funding round is lower than the $8.6 billion it was valued at in 2021, according to Pitchbook data. Many startups that became unicorns during the 2021 funding boom are now raising capital at lower valuations as investors' attention turns toward artificial intelligence. "The change reflects broader market conditions and this is a strong outcome for the current market environment," a Nuro spokesperson said. Nuro has been pushing to scale its self-driving platform and expand commercial partnerships. Founded in 2016, Nuro has pivoted from delivery robots to licensing its Nuro Driver technology for use in robotaxis, commercial fleets, and personal vehicles. Nuro partnered with EV maker Lucid and Uber to launch a global robotaxi service. Uber plans to deploy over 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro's system across dozens of markets over six years starting in 2026. YTL Power profit falls to RM2.4bil in FY25, declares four sen dividend
KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Power International Bhd's net profit declined to RM2.40 billion in the financial year ended June 30, 2025 (FY2025) from RM3.41 billion in the same period a year ago. Revenue also eased to RM21.81 billion from RM22.28 billion due to lower performance in the telecommunications business. On its prospects, the group expects to remain resilient due to the essential nature of its operations and said it will continue to closely monitor the related risks and impact on all business segments. "For power generation, the group will be developing a large portion of the Kulai Young Estate into a large scale solar power facility with a generation capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW) to co-power the adjacent 600 MW green data centre park. This is in line with the group's shift towards investing in more sustainable renewable energy solutions moving forward," it said in a stock exchange filing. For the telecommunications segment, it said YTL Communications Sdn Bhd expects to extend its 5G services to the rest of the country, in tandem with the rollout of Digital National Bhd's 5G network. "By continuing to offer affordable data plans and offering innovative 5G services, this segment is looking to increase its subscriber base, bolstered by partnerships and collaborations," it added. YTL Power's net profit weakened to RM670 million in the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2025 from RM1.01 billion in the same period a year ago, while revenue fell to RM5.55 billion from RM6.31 billion previously due to lower performance in the power generation business. It declared a second interim dividend of four sen per ordinary share for FY2025. The book closure and payment dates for the dividend are Oct 2, 2025 and Oct 23, 2025, respectively.
