PIERS Morgan opened up on what Britain's Got Talent might have looked like if the original format had gone ahead.
The TV presenter, 60, became a household name in the U.S after agreeing to take on the role of the "meanie" judge on America's Got Talent in place of the show's creator, Simon Cowell.

But before finding fame across the pond, Piers was meant to be a judge on the talent show in the U.K, long before the American version was made.
Piers shared a vintage photo from the 2005 pilot of a show tested by ITV that would go on to become Britain's Got Talent, but looked very different indeed.
In the photo posted to Instagram, Piers is sitting at the judges' desk alongside then host of This Morning, Fern Cotton, and music mogul, Simon Cowell.
Piers revealed the late Paul O'Grady was meant to host the show and it was named after him, but it fell through when the late TV star fell out with ITV.
"Another amazing pic from my past, also randomly posted on X by someone yesterday.. This one is truly historic… it was the first ever panel assembled for the Got Talent franchise anywhere in the world," Piers began in the caption.
"Simon Cowell had come up with the idea of a new talent show, ITV ordered a pilot episode to be filmed, and cast Simon, me and Fern Britton (then presenting This Morning) as the judges."
Piers continued:" It was hosted by the late, great Paul O'Grady.. and called 'Paul O'Grady's Got Talent'. The acts sat in the audience and came down onto the stage when it was their turn to perform."
He described the format as "hysterical" and how ITV was ready to give it the green light, but then "shelved it" after the row with Paul.
"However, Simon isn't one of life's quitters, and a few weeks later he texted me to say he'd sold the rights to NBC in the U.S., they wanted to repackage it as 'America's Got Talent', and he wanted me as a judge on it to play the tough meanie role because he was committed to American Idol so couldn't do it," Piers added.
"(He said, 'Piers, I need someone as arrogant, obnoxious and judgemental as me, and your name has immediately sprung to mind!')."

Piers continued:" A month later, I was on the Paramount movie lot in Hollywood, with a trailer next to David Hasselhoff's, and we started filming @agt."
The journalist described America's Got Talent as "an instant smash hit No1 summer show in America" to which he owes his "entire and I owe my entire 20-year career over in the States" for.
Piers concluded: "The following year @bgt launched in the UK but with Amanda Holden replacing Fern. That was also a No1 smash hit, and Got Talent has now aired in 69 countries, becoming one of the most successful television franchises in history. And it all started with this pic."
Before his death, Paul had confirmed that he'd been lined up to host the show, but hated the original name.
He said: "I did the pilot for Britain's Got Talent – which was originally going to be called Paul O'Grady's Got Talent. But I told the producers they were having a joke if they thought I would front a show with that title.
"The original panel of judges was going to be Simon Cowell, Fern Britton and Piers Morgan. I was the host. Then when I had the row with ITV I was banned from the studios."

This Morning star he says 'my father rarely talked about it' as he breaks down
This Morning viewers were felt feeling emotional as show regular Gyles Brandreth broke down in tears live on-air This Morning favourite Gyles Brandreth was overcome with emotion as he broke down in tears whilst discussing his late father - who fought in World War Two. During Friday's (August 15) instalment of the ITV daytime programme, presenters Emma Willis and Craig Doyle devoted a poignant segment to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day), which marked the conclusion of World War Two. The touching tribute took an intensely moving direction as Gyles, a regular contributor to This Morning, became tearful whilst reflecting on his late father. Following an emotional footage, Gyles - who was seated on the sofa beside journalist Rachel Johnson - went on to describe how stirring it was to witness the King and Queen conducting a two-minute silence. Emma began by remarking: "To reflect further on this historical day, Gyles Brandreth and Rachel Johnson are back. It's so emotional when you watch that, it really does make you stop and think," reports Wales Online. Gyles responded: "To see there veterans, who were actually alive, taking part in what was for many people called the forgotten war. The people in Burma thought they were the forgotten army." He went on: "To see the King there, whose grandfather spoke at the end of war and said this is Victory over Japan Day, it was the final end." Gyles continued: "Whenever we talk about the war, I think about my own parents. My father was in the army for six years during the Second World War in intelligence and he rarely talked about it." A photograph of his father then appeared on the screen and Gyles became tearful, declaring: "There he is, bless him. Oh that's rather touching." Fighting back emotion, he continued: "They're good people, really good people. Interestingly, they very rarely talked about it. They just got on with it." Craig responded: "It's very poignant. So many people will be feeling like you right now Gyles - sad and very proud." Home viewers were moved by the heartfelt moment and quickly took to social media to express their feelings. One viewer posted on X, formerly Twitter: "@GylesB1 @thismorning Thank you for showing such pride and raw emotion to your viewers this morning. Sets such a positive example. #vjday2025 #ThisMorning." Another commented: "Oh Gyles, such raw emotion #thismorning." A third wrote: "Awww Giles, I am crying now #thismorning." One posted: "Wow Gyles, raw emotion tbf #thismorning."

Hamilton's message to fans was simply "back soon," implying the British sporting icon is stepping away from social media for a spell. This ties in with his earlier posts from this afternoon, when he posted a scenic picture of him and his bulldog Roscoe with the caption "Outta office." "Exactly," the 40-year-old said, suggesting he is taking the time away from social media to reconnect with other areas of his life. It is no surprise that the racing champion is keen to get away from it all, considering the brutal few weeks he has been through recently on the track. He was keen to right his wrongs at the Hungarian GP the following week, but things were only going to get more dire. Hamilton only managed to make it to Q2 at the Hungaroring, prompting an outburst in a post-qualifying interview in which he labelled himself "absolutely useless." "It's me every time. I'm useless, absolutely useless," he said following his 12th place qualifying finish. 4 Hamilton appeared distraught as he talked media through his disappointing qualifying performance Credit: Getty Advertisement "The team have no problem. You've seen the car's on pole so we probably need to change driver." Former team boss Toto Wolff came out in defence of Hamilton following his comments, and suggested that he could still come back and challenge at the very top of the sport. F1 icon Bernie Ecclestone was perhaps the Brit's harshest critic, suggesting Hamilton should retire before his legacy suffers at the hands of his declining performances. Whether it be his conduct on or off the track, or the comments of those around him in F1, it is becoming increasingly clear that the pressure is mounting on the shoulders of one of the best to ever do it. His next chance to turn things around will be at the Dutch GP at Zandvoort in two weeks.

It comes after Pete made a rare public comment on his ex-wife after she said during the latest episode of her podcast: 'This is another thing I need to clear up, the kids have never lived just with Pete, we've shared the kids.' But Pete fired back: 'For sixteen years I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating." He continued: "That ends today. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. "For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. "In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before out of respect for my children.' Pete signed off: 'Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months.' "Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was.'
