Television actor Lalit Manchanda, known for his work in shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Crime Patrol, has passed away at 36. As per reports, the actor died by suicide at his Meerut residence on Monday, April 21. Police confirmed that his body was discovered hanging inside his residence. No suicide note was found at the spot. While his body has been transferred for postmortem examination, preliminary findings suggest no evidence of foul play.
The Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) confirmed the news on Instagram, further extending its condolences.
'CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Lalit Manchanda (member since 2012)," the caption read. Manchanda was reportedly struggling financially in Mumbai and had moved back to Meerut with his family a few months back.

Notably, this is not the first time that a member of the show has died by suicide. Earlier in 2020, a TMKOC writer, Abhishek Makwana, was found dead at his home in Mumbai. Abhishek was struggling with financial woes, leading to the drastic step. A suicide note was recovered from the site.

Who Is Lalit Manchanda?
Lalit Manchanda is best known for his role in SAB TV's popular sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He also made brief appearances in shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, India's Most Wanted, Jhansi Ki Rani, Maryada, and Crime Patrol. Manchanda also worked in a few Bollywood films. Despite being in the industry for over a decade, Manchanda had been in a financial crisis while residing in Mumbai for a long time.
According to Amar Ujala, Lalit is survived by his wife, Taru Manchanda, an 18-year-old son, Ujjwal, and a daughter, Shreya.
On Sunday night, Manchanda decided to sleep in a separate room, only for his family to find his body hanging in the morning. The family contacted the police, who reached the spot and took over the investigation. The actor was cremated on Monday evening.
