Where Michelin-star chefs go for vegetarian dishes… including one spot in the heart of Belfast
There was a time when, if you didn't eat meat or fish, your options in most Irish restaurants were severely limited. If you were lucky, there might be a mushroom risotto or a spinach and goats cheese tart on the menu – but if you weren't, dinner was something hastily adapted from the meat menu.
Vegetarians were considered awkward for professional kitchens to deal with, the butt of jokes and a source of annoyance, and unless you went to a specialist restaurant as a non-meat eater you were unlikely to get anything really excellent for dinner.

Conor McGregor's fiancee speaks out after UFC star kissed mystery woman
Conor McGregor's fiancee Dee Devlin has broken her silence after the UFC icon was spotted kissing a mystery woman on a beach in the United States Dee Devlin, the fiancee of UFC superstar Conor McGregor, has spoken out after her partner was seen kissing a mystery woman on a Florida beach. The former two-weight UFC champion was spotted enjoying a jet ski ride before he was seen cuddling up to a brunette who was not his fiancee on a Fort Lauderdale beach. The Sun reported that the 'Notorious' appeared to be relishing the attention from female beachgoers. McGregor and Devlin have been engaged since 2020 and share four children. Devlin, 37, responded by sharing a post from a fan account on Instagram which read: "Happy Birthday to the person who always keeps Dee entertained and makes her smile." She followed this up with a series of photos featuring herself and McGregor. Despite the recent scandal, it seems Devlin is standing by her man of 16 years. Notably, she supported McGregor when he faced allegations of "brutally raping and battering" in a civil case, accusations which McGregor, 37, has consistently denied, reports All Out Fighting. Former hairdresser Nikita Hand, 35, won a lawsuit against McGregor over the incident, which allegedly took place in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel in 2018. During the three-week trial at the High Court in Dublin last November, McGregor maintained that he had consensual sex with Ms Hand. After a marathon six-hour and ten-minute deliberation, the jury found Conor McGregor civilly liable for assault. Nikita Ni Laimhin, also known as Ms Hand, was awarded a substantial €248,603.60 in damages after the verdict by the panel of eight women and four men. Additionally, the Irish fighter has been directed to pay an initial sum of €100,000 towards the damages and €200,000 as part of the projected €1.3million legal fees before any appeal. McGregor is now appealing the decision, which was initially set to introduce fresh evidence. Yet, this month the Dublin Court of Appeal was informed that McGregor would no longer be presenting new evidence that wasn't available during the first trial. Speculation about when Conor McGregor will return to the octagon continues. His last fight saw him defeated by long-standing adversary Dustin Poirier in 2021. A bout against Michael Chandler was on the cards last year, but McGregor had to pull out due to an injury sustained while training. Recently, the 37 year old stoked anticipation among fans by stating he plans to fight at the UFC's White House event next year. Despite some supporters losing hope for his return, McGregor once more dropped hints about a comeback. At a press conference for Bare Knuckle FC, where he holds co-ownership, the Dublin native made an exhilarating announcement, saying: "It's looking like I'm headed to the Oval Office again. That's where I'm headed next."

After rumours of a feud between the pair Kerry, who was married to the Irish singer from 2002 to 2006 added to New! Magazine: "His wedding has nothing to do with me at all. "I texted Danielle to wish them a happy day - it looked like a beautiful celebration and I hope they had a ball." Kerry recently revealed an insight into her relationship with Brian's partner Danielle, and said: "I get on really well with his fiancée. "I think I might have a girl crush on her. I always go off of what my girls say for a stepmum, and she's the best stepmum. "On Mother's Day, I sent her a message. I went, Happy Mother's Day, Danielle. I think she's lovely and they've got a beautiful little girl, Ruby. "I wish them nothing but joy and happiness." Kerry Katona reveals tense relationship with first husband Brian McFadden and shares hopes for a friendship with ex KERRY'S TAKE Whole Again singer Kerry recently told how she hoped she could have stayed pals with boyband star Brian. It came before the mum of five recently opened up on their tense relationship. She spoke from the heart about her ex during the podcast Meeting… Kerry Katona - and the sadness that has followed. The Atomic Kitten star, 43, told presenter Matt Foister: "I really wish me and Brian were friends. I said that to Lily yesterday because she was going to [Westlife's] concert to watch and I said, I wish I could come." Kerry Katona's love life timeline Kerry's first high-profile relationship was with Brian McFadden, who was then a member of the Irish boyband Westlife. The couple married in 2002 and had two daughters together, Molly and Lilly-Sue, but divorce beckoned just four years later after infidelity claims. In 2007, Kerry married Mark Croft, a former taxi driver. Their relationship was tumultuous and marked by financial difficulties and accusations of infidelity. They had two children together, Heidi and Maxwell, before divorcing in 2011. Kerry has spoken openly about the difficulties she faced during this period, including struggles with her mental health and substance abuse. Following this, she entered into a relationship with George Kay, a former professional rugby league player. They married in 2014 and had a daughter, Dylan-Jorge (DJ). However, their relationship was fraught with issues, including horrifying domestic abuse, and they separated in 2017. Kay died in 2019 after 'biting into a ball of cocaine'. Kerry later found love again with Ryan Mahoney, a fitness trainer. The couple became engaged in 2020, and Kerry described Ryan as a stabilising and positive influence in her life. After increasing speculation late in 2024, Kerry revealed they had split over a "breach in trust" and Ryan had moved out of her home. She then admitted: "People forget I've lived a million lives after Brian, but it was so iconic and it was so public, and people always go on about me and Brian but it was a lifetime ago. "He is a part of my story and he hates that, but unfortunately it is what it is and I'm grateful to him, because I went through something with Brian that was phenomenal... phenomenal." LOVE STORY Brian met his PE teacher partner Danielle in 2016 and they got engaged shortly after. After meeting his long-term love, Brian popped the question shortly after in December 2019. The happy couple welcomed their daughter Ruby Jean into the world back in 2021. Brian recently revealed his intimate wedding plans to his fiancée after their five-year engagement. The happy couple had planned on getting married in South Africa but were forced to postpone their big day due to Covid-19 restrictions and the birth of their daughter. Following his split with Kerry, he was previously engaged to Australian singer Delta Goodrem from 2007 to 2011. He was then married to model Vogue Williams from 2012 to 2017. 6 Brian and PE teacher Danielle said I Do in a lavish ceremony Credit: instagram 6 Kerry, 44, told of her admiration for her daughters' step parent Credit: instagram
