Auburn went to bed on Monday night with five national titles. It woke up on Tuesday morning with nine.
The Tigers now recognize themselves as 1910, 1914, 1958 and 2004 national champions, On3 reported on Tuesday morning.
"For too long, Auburn has chosen a humble approach to our program's storied history – choosing to recognize only Associated Press National Championships. Starting this fall, we have made the decision to honor the accomplishments of our deserving student-athletes, coaches, and teams from Auburn's proud history," Auburn athletic director John Cohen said in a statement.
"Our visible National Championship recognitions now align with the well-established standard used by the NCAA's official record book and our peers across the nation."
The four aforementioned title honors give Auburn's football program nine in total, the other four coming in the 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993 and 2010 seasons. Speaking of the 2010 season, then-quarterback and 2010 Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton will have his No. 2 jersey retired by Auburn during the 2025 college football season.
Here's how Auburn fared in its newly crowned title seasons:
1910: 6-1 overall
1914: 8-0-1 overall
1958: 9-0-1
2004: 13-0 overall
As for the present, Auburn is coming off a 5-7 season (2-6 in SEC play) that saw it be ineligible for a bowl game for the second time in three seasons. The Tigers are entering their third season under head coach Hugh Freeze and open the 2025 season on the road against the Baylor Bears on Aug. 29 (8 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app).

Former Spartan QB named to Manning Award watch list ahead of 2025 season
A former Michigan State quarterback is gaining some big time preseason steam ahead of the 2025 season. Katin Houser, a now senior at East Carolina, has been named to the 2025 Manning Award Watch List according to an announcement by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. He is one of 27 quarterbacks named to the award's watch list. The Manning Award has been given annually since 2004 to the best collegiate quarterback as judged by the Sugar Bowl Committee. Uniquely, it is the only quarterback award that includes each candidate's postseason-bowl performance in its balloting. After two seasons in East Lansing, Houser moved on to ECU, where he played in nine games last season, completing just over 60-percent of his passes for 2,006 yards and 18 touchdowns, with 11 interceptions. The Pirates will open their 2025 season with a road game against NC State on Thursday, Aug. 28 in a Military Bowl rematch. Oprah Winfrey, Morgan Freeman and Snoop Dogg are among the celebrity narrators lending their voices to the Hall of Excellence, a new sports memorabilia museum that's popped up at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Ticket stubs, programs, game-day balls and rare artwork also line the display cases, which all lead towards a grandiose Trophy Room, where the Vince Lombardi Trophy, Heisman Trophy, MLB Commissioners Trophy and NBA Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy are among the laurels on view. In fact, almost all the major sporting event trophies are available to view at the Hall, including college trophies and Olympic gold medals. Seven-time Super Bowl champ Brady has his own section, that features all seven of his Super Bowl rings, along with a brief description of each game-winning moment. Visitors can also listen to Brady narrate the story behind each ring as part of the exhibit's audio tour. The Hall's main self-guided tour is narrated by Academy Award winner Freeman, while Winfrey, Snoop Dogg, Marv Albert and others, each narrate a different exhibit. It isn't just sports either: Winfrey's Presidential Medal of Freedom and 2016 Tony Award for 'The Color Purple' revival are also on display, as is Clint Eastwood's 1993 Oscar for 'Unforgiven.' Other highlights include the bat used by Jackie Robinson to break baseball's color barrier in 1947; Michael Jordan's first pair of Air Jordans; Muhammad Ali's robe and gloves from his fight versus George Chuvalo in 1966; a golf ball used by Tiger Woods during his first Masters victory; and the Washington Capitals jersey worn by Alexander Ovechkin the night he tied Wayne Gretzky's NHL scoring record earlier this year. There is also a collection of golf balls and baseballs signed by President Trump, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and a number of other U.S. Presidents dating back to Woodrow Wilson. Worth noting: women's sports and female athletes are also well-represented among the more than 300 items on display. Pieces include dresses worn by Serena Williams and Billie Jean King, a leotard worn by Simone Biles and the Las Vegas Aces WNBA Championship rings from 2022 and 2023. Brady helped to put many of these items together, drawing from his and Gray's personal collections and tapping into his network of friends and former teammates. 'The Hall of Excellence is about more than preserving history – it is about celebrating the relentless pursuit of greatness,' the NFL star says in a release. 'So much of this memorabilia represents the incredible journey that I, like so many others, have been fortunate enough to experience. Artifacts like these do not belong hidden away, they should be shared with the fans who were along for the journey with us.' Fontainebleau Las Vegas, meantime, says the items represent a 'carefully curated collection of exclusive and extraordinary artifacts,' with Chairman and CEO of Fontainebleau Development, Jeffrey Soffer, calling it a 'first-hand look at history through the eyes of the world's most beloved athletes and entertainers.' The Hall of Excellence is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission costs $35 per person and tickets are available here. Brady, meantime, is back for another season as part of the 'NFL on FOX' broadcast team. The NFL star joined the FOX broadcast booth as a lead game analyst last year.

Stetson starts new era with Jasper
The Stetson football program begins the 2025 season under new head coach Michael Jasper. Jasper spent three seasons as an offensive lineman in the NFL and hopes to jumpstart this Hatters program. Stetson went 2-9, 0-7 in the Pioneer Football League in 2024 and they have been picked to finish last out of eleven teams this season. The Hatters have almost fifty freshmen on their roster, but they have plenty of talent to have a bounce back season. Prior to Stetson, Jasper went 44-20 in six seasons as the head football coach at his alma mater, Bethel (TN) University. Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
