I was sick of barely surviving crime-ridden UK – I packed my life in a shipping container & moved to Turkey with my kids
Fed up with grey skies, scary streets and a constant daily grind to make ends meet, one British mum said 'enough's enough' and packed her entire life into a shipping container to start fresh under the Turkish sun.

Jodie, aka weather girl on TikTok, is a mum-of-three who swapped her depressing old life for dazzling coastlines, cheaper living, and a whole new outlook in sunny Turkey.
'I was sad. Depressed. You never saw me smile,' she admitted in one of her now-viral videos.
But claims she's now significantly happier and "full of life".
Jodie had had enough of struggling to stay afloat in the UK.
She and her husband were working round the clock just to scrape by – no holidays, no savings, and zero chance of buying a home thanks to what she calls 'stupid little things' constantly going wrong.
And as if the money stress wasn't enough, the rising crime in her area tipped her over the edge.
She claimed she wanted a better life for her and the kids and so packed up her life, three kids and the dog and moved abroad.
With her husband's family already settled in Turkey, the couple decided to give it a go.
He flew out first to find a rental for a year, just to see if it would work.
Meanwhile, back in Britain, Jodie was packing everything – furniture, clothes, kids' toys, even the kettle – into a shipping container bound for their new life abroad.
The Spanish region undiscovered by Brits despite seaside views and ancient Roman cities
She claimed it took months to organise and said whilst it was difficult, it was definitely worth the hassle.
While their belongings were at sea, her husband drove their car and their massive German Shepherd all the way across Europe – a three-day trek – while Jodie, the kids and her mum hopped on a flight.
Their first year was spent in a peaceful Turkish village far from the tourist spots and Jodie absolutely fell in love.
She said it was a beautiful, local area that wasn't too touristy.
When their tenancy was up, they made the move to Alanya, a more buzzing coastal area, and Jodie's never looked back.
'I love it. I really love it here,' she beamed.
She says she wouldn't return to the UK unless she absolutely had to.
She explained that her kids are thriving and their lives have all infinitely improved since the move.
While Jodie's Turkish hubby sorted most of the boring paperwork, she says she's now 'retired from admin' and doesn't miss the stress one bit.
And for anyone else dreaming of ditching the UK for a new life in the sun? The Tiktoker is here to help.
'Drop me a DM,' she says, promising to share details to help with paperwork and all the tricky bits.
She's not the only Brit trading dreary, concrete skylines for golden sands.
A young woman recently revealed how her health improved after she moved from the UK to Dubai, saying life at home was 'making her sick'.
Ela Reeves was struggling with a series of health conditions prior to the move, including chronic fatigue, sore joints and acne.
With her body 'crying out for change', she decided to try life in sunnier climes and jetted off to Dubai for a new life in January and has never looked back.
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here's what you need to do at home before moving:
Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad - contact the International Pension Centre.
You can sign up to the Royal Mail's redirection service.
If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.

American in UK tries afternoon tea for first time and makes two big 'mistakes'
Afternoon tea is a classic British tradition and social event involving tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones – and an American living in the UK had his first experience but made some 'mistakes' Afternoon tea is one of Britain's finest traditions. It dates back to the 18th century and remains popular to this very day. It is a meal usually served between lunch and dinner consisting of tea, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and a selection of cakes and pastries. Beyond the food, it is a social event often enjoyed in a casual but elegant setting, like a hotel or tea room. Afternoon tea is fascinating to tourists and those who aren't originally from the UK and TikTok user, KJordy, who moved from the US to London shared his first time experiencing this British tradition. In a video on the social media platform he said that he doesn't think he can think of anything more 'posh', 'dainty' or 'exquisite' than afternoon tea so he decided to try it for himself. He mentioned that Brits are 'territorial about their tea' and admitted that he had 'no idea' how afternoon tea works so he did some 'research' on how to conduct himself. Sharing what he learned, the American expat added: 'First things first, I should probably look halfway decent and thinking about it, I probably should have bought a monocle. Let me stop yapping and let's get it.' KJordy arrived for his meal and was firstly presented with a sleek black case full of different types of tea. Seated at the table with the afternoon tea stand in front of him his first impressions were that it 'looks hella bougie.' He pointed to the top plate which had the 'sandwiches' but it was actually an assortment of breads like brioche, the second plate with the desserts and what he was 'most excited' for was what laid on the bottom plate - the scones. The American living in London started off by pouring himself a cup of red tea and then he added a bit of milk to it. Taking a sip of the tea, he pulled a face but decided that it was 'not bad.' KJordy then took a bite of a piece of egg truffle brioche, which he seemed to enjoy more than the tea but remarked that it was also 'not bad.' Moving onto the scones, he cut one in half and spread some clotted cream followed by jam onto the bottom half and then put the other part of the scone on top. After digging into the scone he said: 'A scone is the same as our biscuits. I'm here for scones.' Next the expat moved onto the desserts. The first one he sampled was 'interesting' and looked like 'Jello'. He rated it a four out of ten before moving on to another which he wasn't a fan of again. Then he tried a roly poly and noted 'that has been the best dessert so far.' Giving his verdict on this British tradition he concluded: 'The afternoon tea I think it's just for socialising like [the] presentation is what looks the best. Taste wise, I could give or take. Overall, afternoon tea for me it's a six out of ten.' Afternoon tea mistakes Brits were quick to rush to the comment section and point out the 'mistakes' KJordy made with the tea and scone. One said: 'That tea looked like a rooibos, fruit or herbal tea which should never have milk.' Another user added: 'Milk with the fruit tea? Nope… just nope!' A third suggested: 'If you've never experienced afternoon tea, you should definitely go with someone who's experienced, milk in fruit tea yikes.' Criticising how he ate the scone someone commented: 'Sir did you just eat that scone like a sandwich? No, no, no, we eat each half separately, [it] makes it feel like 2 scones.' A second agreed: 'Scone was eaten incorrectly! Eat half at a time.'

Video reveals TikToker was minutes away from death…but can you spot why?
With the summer holidays approaching, many will be looking forward to going abroad. But you should be careful when picking up shells on the beach, as it could leave you minutes from death. A video, shared by TikToker Beckylee Rawls, shows her walking along a beach in Okinawa in Japan when she picks up a pretty shell. She shows it to the camera before putting it back into the sea – and it was only later that she realised her mistake. In another video she holds up a similar shell, saying: 'Yep, that was me picking up a marbled cone snail – one of the deadliest creatures on Earth. Had no idea.' She explained: 'I was out tidepooling in Okinawa, Japan, and I came across this shell. 'As you can see, it's one of my favourite shells to collect because the pattern is so stunning. 'So I pick up the shell and that's when I noticed the shell's alive, and the black and white tube you see is the snail's siphon which it breathes out of. 'This is also the end of the snail that shoots a harpoon to sting and inject its victims with venom.' She said it was only after Googling the shell that she realised her mistake. 'I was playing with the most venomous creature in the ocean that can lead to full paralysis or fatality,' she said, She explained that the species is allegedly nicknamed the 'cigarette snail', because 'you have just enough time after it stings you to light a cigarette before you pass'. 'I hope my story spreads awareness that not all pretty shells are harmless,' she added. She also makes it clear in the comments section of the video - which has nearly racked up 30 million views – that the shells she has at home are ones that she found empty and washed up on the beach. There are around 700 species of cone snails, all of which are highly venomous. They can be found in the South China Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the waters around Australia. These delicate but deadly snails have a large variety of patterns on their shells, which can prompt people to pick them up. This map shows the location of the geographer cone snail, which is one of the most toxic species They possess a single hollow harpoon-shaped tooth that can extend to inject toxic venom into prey, designed to paralyse it. There is currently no antivenom for cone snail injuries since the composition of the venom can vary significantly between species. However, the proteins in cone snail venom are being investigated by scientists for their potential as painkillers. Reports suggest there have been three dozen deaths and more than one hundred injuries from cone snail stings since 1670. However, only six stings have been attributed to the marbled cone snail – and none have been verifiable fatalities. What are cone snails and how deadly are they? Cone snails are among the most venomous creatures on earth, with the most toxic being the 'textile' and 'geography' species. Venom from just one cone snail is enough to theoretically kill 700 people. All capture their prey by means of harpoon-like hollow teeth (radula) that are rapidly jabbed into their prey to inject the toxic venom. Attacks on humans usually occur when a cone snail is either stepped on in the ocean or picked up from the water or the beach. Ironically, among the compounds found in cone snail venom are proteins which, when isolated, have enormous potential as pain-killing drugs. Research shows that certain of these proteins target specific human pain receptors and can be up to 10,000 times more potent than morphine without morphine 's addictive properties and side-effects.
