KUWAIT CITY, June 19: Acting Director of the Kuwait Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, forecasted on Thursday that the weekend weather will be hot and dusty during the day, with temperatures remaining hot to warm at night, though slightly cooler compared to last week.
Al-Ali explained that Kuwait is currently influenced by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, bringing a hot, dry air mass accompanied by active to strong northwesterly winds during the daytime. These winds, reaching speeds of over 60 kilometers per hour, are expected to cause dust storms.
Thursday morning's weather was described as hot and dusty with moderate to strong northwesterly winds blowing between 20 and 65 kilometers per hour. Temperatures were expected to peak between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius. The sea state was forecast to be moderate to high, with waves ranging from three to seven feet.
In the evening, conditions will remain hot with dust gradually settling. Winds will ease to light or moderate speeds of 15 to 42 kilometers per hour, occasionally stronger near coastal areas. Nighttime temperatures are expected to fall to between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, with the sea remaining light to moderate and waves from two to six feet.
Friday's weather will continue to be hot, with northwesterly winds ranging from 15 to 50 kilometers per hour, occasionally becoming active and causing dust. Maximum temperatures are forecast between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves of two to six feet.
Friday evening is expected to be hot, with winds between 15 and 38 kilometers per hour and temperatures dropping to 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. Sea waves will remain light to moderate, ranging from two to five feet.

Dusty weather to persist in Kuwait until Thursday evening
KUWAIT CITY, June 23: The Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, announced on Monday that Kuwait will continue to experience active, dust-raising winds, with a gradual improvement in weather conditions expected by Thursday evening. Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that the current weather pattern is influenced by the extension of the Indian monsoon depression, bringing with it a hot and dry air mass. This system is accompanied by moderate to active northwesterly winds that are stirring up dust and reducing horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas. He noted that wind speeds are expected to range between 25 and 50 kilometers per hour, with sea waves rising to more than six feet as a result. Al-Ali warned that wind intensity will increase further on Monday and Tuesday, with gusts reaching between 35 and 65 kilometers per hour. This could reduce horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters, and, in some exposed regions, visibility may drop to nearly zero. He added that the overall weather will remain hot and dusty during the day and tend to stay hot at night. Dust levels are expected to begin settling in the evening. The maximum daytime temperatures will range from 44 to 46 degrees Celsius, while nighttime lows are forecast to be between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius. Al-Ali concluded that a relative calming of the winds and gradual improvement in weather conditions are anticipated starting Thursday evening.

Kuwait Calls on Public to Help Avoid Power Cuts with Simple Energy-Saving Steps
KUWAIT CITY, June 22: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed that the implementation of programmed power outages (load-shedding) could be avoided if at least 10 percent of the consumers commit to the rationalization of electricity consumption during peak hours in summer. Sources told the daily that the highest electrical load disconnected under the scheduled power outage plan this year reached 909 megawatts in April; which is equivalent to less than 10 percent of the highest recorded load of 17,640 megawatts in the same month. They pointed out that 10 percent of the highest recorded load saves around 1,764 megawatts, which means achieving this savings through voluntary rationalization of consumption is sufficient to avoid resorting to the scheduled power outage. They emphasized that this goal is achievable through the concerted efforts of government agencies and the public. Sources also affirmed that the ministry is continuing its public awareness efforts to encourage individuals and the production and service sectors to take simple and effective conservation measures, such as setting air conditioning temperature to 24 degrees Celsius, turning off unnecessary appliances during peak hours, and using energy-saving lighting. Sources stressed that everyone's adherence to these instructions will contribute to the stability of the electricity grid and ensure uninterrupted service despite the rising temperatures and increased demand for energy in summer. They added that the ministry is closely monitoring the electricity grid and consumption, reiterating that collective conservation remains the optimal and least costly option for safely overcoming the peak periods
