The cryptocurrency market saw a sharp pullback on Friday, with Bitcoin falling below the $101,000 mark amid rising macro uncertainty and high-profile tensions between Donald Trump and Elon Musk.At 11:57 am IST, Bitcoin was down 1.5% at $102,987, while Ethereum tumbled 6% to $2,457, according to CoinMarketCap.Bitcoin had touched an intraday low of $100,436 during early trading, with sentiment turning cautious across the board. The global cryptocurrency market cap declined 2% to $3.22 trillion.Key altcoins extended losses, with Dogecoin dropping 7.5%, Solana falling 3.5%, and Cardano and Sui down 5.5% each. XRP declined 3%, BNB fell 4%, and Chainlink dropped 4.7%. Meme token Pepe was the biggest loser with a 7.3% slide.'Bitcoin has experienced a notable decline, dipping below $101,000 amid escalating tensions between President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk,' said Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin. 'This public feud has negatively impacted investor sentiment, leading to a broader sell-off in both the crypto and equity markets.' He added that Tesla's market cap dropped by $152 billion, while TrumpCoin saw a $100 million decline in value.'Bulls have left the building, and red has taken over the stage,' said Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO of Pi42. He noted that Bitcoin fell over 3.4% in the past 24 hours, erasing $84 billion in market cap and triggering over $230 million in crypto liquidations. Despite the volatility, Shekhar pointed to record open interest among institutional investors on the CME as a sign of long-term confidence.According to Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex, the pullback may be short-lived. 'On-chain data shows strong bullish activity, with Bitcoin network activity surging to a record 556,830 new wallets in a single day,' he said. Patel also noted that the weakening U.S. dollar—now at a three-year low against the euro and pound—could improve Bitcoin's appeal as a hedge.Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst at Delta Exchange, said Bitcoin is currently forming a descending triangle, with crucial support at $100,388. 'A breakdown below this level could lead to a fall toward $97,000–$95,000. On the upside, a breakout above $104,000 would shift short-term momentum,' she said.Ethereum is trading below $2,500 after facing rejection at $2,650. Sehgal said support lies at $2,392, and if breached, could lead to further downside to $2,340. A close above $2,500 is required to improve sentiment.Despite price weakness, institutional activity remains strong. BlackRock added 13,310 ETH on June 5, and Ethereum ETFs saw net inflows of $11.3 million. Washington, June 6 (UNI) President Donald Trump is "not interested" in a call with Tesla CEO Elon Musk to patch things up, after their feud exploded into public. 'There are no plans" for a call between President Trump and the billionaire Musk, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles said. Politico had reported that White House aides had scheduled a call Friday with the Tesla CEO to try to patch things up between the two men. Trump is "not interested" in a call, a senior White House official told NBC News. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is focused on the 'One Big Beautiful Bill', the GOP domestic policy bill that Musk had trashed, which triggered their falling out. "That's the mindset he left the Oval Office in yesterday," she said. A Trump administration official added, 'There could be anything — I'd like to de-escalate a very unfortunate situation. But there are no calls on the books, at least not now.' The rift between Trump and Musk comes after friction built more quietly between the tech billionaire and others in the Trump administration during Musk's time at the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk and Wiles "didn't really have a great relationship", said one person close to Trump, who said the chief of staff would get "irritated" at Musk's attempts to give orders to Cabinet secretaries or staffers, NBC reported. This person, speaking on background, said he believes there will be movement inside the administration now "to get rid of some of the DOGE guys at the various offices". White House aides scrambled into at least two closed-door meetings on Thursday to strategise about whether and how to respond to Musk's social media barrage. Vice President JD Vance was with Trump on Thursday when the tweets began and they spoke multiple times in the afternoon, according to a person familiar with the day's events. Trump encouraged Vance to be diplomatic about Musk if asked about him, the person said. Vance defended Trump in a post on X Thursday night, writing, 'President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I'm proud to stand beside him.' Meanwhile, Trump is considering selling or giving away the red Tesla that he purchased in March, according to a senior White House official. The president is still weighing his options and has not made a final decision, the official added. As to whether there will be a rapprochement between Musk and Trump, the person close to Trump said that, knowing the president, "he would want to see Elon be quiet for a while and then Elon reach out to him and say sorry. I think the president would then let it go. "I don't think [Trump] is going to try to make the peace," the person continued. The spat began Thursday when Trump criticised Musk's recent attacks on the Republican policy measure over its estimated increase to the deficit, and turned into a full-scale blowup that sent ripples through Congress and Tesla's stock prices. 'I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people,' Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. 'I'm very disappointed in Elon," Trump said. "I've helped Elon a lot.' Trump suggested that Musk, who earlier this week called the GOP bill a 'disgusting abomination", was upset that the bill cut out a tax credit implemented by the Biden administration to incentivize electric vehicle purchases. Musk's Starlink finally gets government licence to launch satcom services
NEW DELH: A local factory for Tesla's electric cars may be some time away, but 's satellite communications venture Starlink has finally received a go-ahead from govt to launch services in the country. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Starlink got approval for three licences - Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS), Commercial Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), and Internet Service Provider (ISP) - which will enable the company launch a slew of satellite-based communication services in India, ranging from consumer to enterprise internet solutions. TOI was the first to report in its June 4 editions that the govt has decided to approve Starlink's licence applications, which had been pending for the past three-four years, after the company agreed to abide by security and other requisite conditions. Starlink, which becomes the third telecom company to receive the GMPCS licence after Bharti group-backed Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio SES, is expected to get trial spectrum over the coming weeks. However, the company is not likely to launch consumer and enterprise services any time soon, since none of the satcom licence holders have been allotted spectrum yet. Recommendations regarding the method of administrative allocation of satcom spectrum, as well as the charges, have been submitted by regulator Trai to govt, but no final decision has been taken on the matter. Starlink will also have to put the ground infrastructure within India to correspond with its satellites and enable communication services. "This will take months to build, and will require approvals from security agencies," sources said. Starlink operates a constellation of Low-Earth Orbit satellites that are positioned around 550 km above the earth and closer than traditional geostationary satellites.
