In a lively conversation with former Indian tennis star and commentator Vijay Amritraj, Gavaskar shared his Wimbledon final prediction and weighed in on the remaining contenders.
While he lauded Spain's Carlos Alcaraz for playing the 'best tennis' among the current field, he also tipped
Novak Djokovic
to reach the final by beating Jannik Sinner in the semis.
Citing Djokovic's loss to Alcaraz in last year's final at SW19, Gavaskar expressed hope that the Serbian would pull off 'one final win to make it 25', referring to Djokovic's quest for a 25th Grand Slam title.
Comparing his fondness for Wimbledon with cricket's spiritual home, Gavaskar remarked, 'Every time I'm in England around this time, I go to Wimbledon.
But I hardly ever go to Lord's, if it's not a final. You could say that I come here more often than I go to Lord's,' the former cricketer told Vijay Amritraj in a clip posted on Star Sports' official X handle.
Gavaskar remains one of the most revered figures in Indian cricket. He played 233 international matches, scoring 13,214 runs, including 35 centuries. He was the first batter to reach 10,000 Test runs and earned widespread acclaim for his mastery against the world's best fast bowlers.

After India snub in World Championship of Legends, Pakistan cricket board bars teams from using country's name in private leagues
After being snubbed twice by India's former cricketers in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned the use of the country's name in all privately-run cricket leagues, according to a Telecom Asia Sport report. The website, quoting sources, said the PCB took the decision during its Board of Directors meeting on Thursday in which senior officials 'expressed frustration after Indian players twice refused to take the field against Pakistan during the WCL's second edition.' Yuvraj Singh and Co. first pulled out of a league stage match against Pakistan Champions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian and one Nepali citizen. Both teams were awarded one point each and it was that point that helped India make the semi-finals of the six-team tournament after languishing at the bottom of the table for the whole tournament since they were winless until a victory over West Indies in the final league stage match. India Champions were once again pitted against Pakistan Champions — comprising Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Misbah ul-Haq, among others — in the semifinals. However, after their withdrawal from the semifinals, Pakistan Champions made it to the title match. The report added that the team will be allowed to play the final against South Africa on Saturday but in the future, they will be barred from using the name 'Pakistan' without 'formal clearance. The report added that the Pakistan government and the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, which oversees sports in the country, 'have advised the PCB to take stringent action to prevent such occurrences in the future.' 'The IPC is understood to have formally communicated its concerns to the cricket board, stressing the need to protect national dignity in international sporting events, especially those involving private or unsanctioned entities,' Telecom Asia Sport reported.

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic invests in Le Mans FC alongside Ex-F1 drivers
Tennis star Novak Djokovic is part of a group of investors who have bought a stake in French second-tier soccer team Le Mans, along with ex-Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, the club said Friday. Le Mans said in a statement that they join other new financial investors into the club, including Latin American sports investment firm OutField and Georgios Frangulis, the founder and chief executive of OakBerry. Frangulis is the boyfriend of three-time women's Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka. "The uniqueness of this fund also lies in its contribution from high-level athletes," Le Mans president Thierry Gomez said in the statement. "Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa, and Kevin Magnussen will be part of the adventure. No financial details were given. Djokovic is the owner of a men's record 24 Grand Slam titles in tennis. The 38-year-old Serb has won 100 career titles overall. Massa won 11 races and secured 41 podiums in his F1 career. When driving for Ferrari, the popular Brazilian was within a whisker of winning the 2008 title, only for Lewis Hamilton to beat him in a dramatic finish at the last race. Hamilton won the title by 98 points to 97. The 32-year-old Magnussen drove close to 200 races in F1, securing one podium and one pole position. But the Danish driver was not retained by Haas at the end of last year when his contract expired. Le Mans soccer club, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, begins its league campaign on Aug. 9. Le Mans a small city in northwestern France also hosts the famed 24-hour endurance car race.
