Double date with your mate as Tinder launch feature to help Gen Z find love
In the current day and age of dating apps, it's becoming harder and harder to have a pleasant and positive experience through the medium. However, Tinder is trying to change that, one app feature at a time.
Through its new update which launched on June 17, Tinder is attempting to transform the dating scene with its newest 'Double Date' feature, designed to help users and their friends dodge undesirable dates — and hopefully swipe their way into desirable ones.
The fresh feature allows users to team up with a mate to match with other duos, providing a fun and relaxed way to navigate dating together.
Whether you're keen to meet new faces or simply enjoy the journey together with some friends, it's a low-stress, group-centric approach to exploring the dating scene side-by-side — something that Gen-Z and millennials are keener than ever to experiment with.
Building on the success of features like 'Tinder Matchmaker' and 'Share My Date' - which allowed users to bring friends and family into their dating journey - 'Double Date' transforms the swiping experience into a shared, light-hearted adventure that can relished (or ridiculed) alongside a friend. It's designed to make meeting new people more enjoyable, more social, and far less pressure-filled (gasp, are we still talking about dating apps?)
With Gen-Z and millennials increasingly dependent on friends to guide them in an evermore socially awkward environment, Tinder's 'Double Date' function may serve as a welcome relief to alleviate those first-date jitters.
How does it work?
With the 'Double Date' function, a user can click the icon in the top right corner of the main card stack screen. They can then choose up to three friends to pair up with.
Next, all you need to do is scroll through your main card stack and like the Double Date pairs that catch your eye. Only one like per pair is required for a match to be made, at which point a group chat is automatically set up.
In the group chat, you can converse as a foursome — and if the chemistry is right — you can arrange to go on a date.
The best part?
With this new 'Double Date' feature, the post-date recap doesn't have to wait — it can start as soon as the date ends. Tinder's data reveals that during the testing phase of the 'Double Date' feature, women were three times more likely to 'Like' a pair than individual profiles.
Furthermore, match rates have significantly increased for those utilising this feature. The data also showed that individual users sent 35% more messages in 'Double Date' conversations compared to standard one-on-one chats. Because let's be honest, everything is 10 times more fun with a friend.
The 'Double Date' feature is now available to Tinder users in the US and selected markets, with a global rollout scheduled for July. Perhaps it's time to team up with a friend and prepare your joint swiping strategy?

White House joins TikTok
Donald Trump 's supporters are jazzed about the White House's new TikTok account. Republicans in Congress have warned of national security concerns with the foreign app and pushed for the U.S. to ban TikTok if it does not sell to a non-Chinese owner. And even though Trump issued an executive order during his first term on the need to address the emergency threat posed by TikTok, the president's most loyal followers are pleased with the new account. It emerged on Tuesday night with three videos within a few hours of each other, all amassing hundreds of thousands of views. More than 110,000 users followed it by Wednesday morning with thousands more following by the minute. 'White House getting on TikTok is YUGE!' Gen Z political commentator Brilyn Hollyhand wrote on X. 'Posting behind the scenes videos, speeches, and accomplishments - that's how we keep Gen Z for the GOP !' he added. Another X user called MAGA Voice with 1.2 million followers wrote: 'President Trump just launched an official White House TikTok account with the most bad[expletive] 30 second video. This is freaking epic.' The White House said in a statement to the Daily Mail that the account is meant to communicate Trump's successes to Americans directly on as 'many platforms as possible.' TikTok is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, and Republicans in Congress have repeatedly threatened a U.S. ban if it does not sell to a company without ties to the CCP. Those threats have turned out to be empty with the president acknowledging his tariffs on Beijing might make a sale even more difficult. He has extended the must-sell-by date several times , and it doesn't appear a deal will happen before the current September deadline. On January 18 this year, TikTok was removed from U.S. app stores and those with it already downloaded were met with the message: 'Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately that means you can't use TikTok for now.' The app was back up and running in the U.S. just hours later after Trump announced he extended the deadline for ByteDance's sale. 'Thanks for your patience and support,' a message on the app read for users who regained access. 'As a result of President Trump's efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.!' TikTok's Singaporean CEO Shou Zi Chew, who attended Trump's inauguration, posted a video praising the then-incoming president. Many Republicans are against TikTok operating in the U.S., and warn that is causes a massive security concern because the CCP has access to users' data. In his August 2020 executive order, Trump even admitted that the app could be used to track federal employees, conduct espionage and facilitate censorship or disinformation. At the time, he called the threat of Chinese-owned companies operating in the U.S. a 'national emergency.' Some on X pointed to Trump now breaking with Republican lawmakers on the matter. 'In a clear nudge to Republican members of Congress who are still on the fence, the White House has officially joined the platform that helped propel President Trump back to the White House: TIKTOK,' wrote CJ Pearson, co-chair of the GOP's Youth Advisory Council. Chinese human rights advocate Yaqiu Wang posted to X: 'American politics has become such a farce.' 'Congress nearly unanimously passed a bill requiring the sale of TikTok over national security concerns. Yet, not only has the president illegally refused to enforce it, but now the White House itself is busy posting on TikTok,' she expanded. Additionally, Mario Nawfal, who posts pro-Trump content to X, wrote: 'Trump has praised TikTok as key to energizing young voters during his 2024 win over Kamala.' 'Intelligence agencies have long warned about the app's Chinese ties,' he acknowledged.

Why Gen Z Is Choosing Crypto for Travel Payments in 2025: By Shanice Octavia
In 2025, crypto payments are no longer a fringe option for travel bookings. A growing share of travelers are using digital assets to pay for flights, hotels, and experiences. This shift is not evenly spread across age groups. Gen Z is leading the change, with adoption rates significantly higher than millennials and older demographics. The Gen Z Digital-First Mindset Gen Z is the first generation to grow up fully online, with daily reliance on mobile banking, e-wallets, and instant payment apps. According to a Bitget Wallet study reported by Cointelegraph in 2025, 39 percent of Gen Z use crypto for travel bookings or other daily purchases. This is nearly double the adoption rate of millennials and several times higher than Gen X. The comfort with self-custody wallets, QR code scanning, and peer-to-peer transfers makes crypto feel natural to this group. They see it not as a speculative investment but as another payment option that fits into their existing digital habits. Cross-Border Travel Without the Bank Fees Gen Z travels internationally more often than previous generations at the same age, driven by study abroad programs, remote work, and flexible lifestyle choices. This group is also highly cost-conscious. Chainalysis data from 2025 shows that cross-border crypto payments grew by more than 40 percent year-on-year, with stablecoins making up the majority of transactions. For Gen Z travelers, paying with crypto avoids foreign exchange fees and long settlement times that come with traditional bank transfers or credit card payments. Privacy and Autonomy as Key Drivers Privacy is another reason Gen Z is drawn to crypto travel payments. An OECD policy paper from 2025 highlights a growing preference among younger consumers for payment methods that reduce the amount of personal financial data shared during transactions. While cryptocurrencies are not fully anonymous, they offer a degree of separation from traditional bank accounts. For digital nomads or travelers booking with smaller, overseas providers, this added layer of control is an appealing benefit. Platforms Adapting to the Shift Travel providers are taking notice. Some online travel agencies and airlines now list crypto alongside traditional cards and e-wallets at checkout. The aim is to capture a demographic that is highly mobile and values choice in payment methods. Platforms like Fly Fairly have introduced options for both major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, giving travelers flexibility and removing the need for currency conversion in international bookings. Regulation Making Crypto Travel Payments Safer Regulatory clarity has played a major role in enabling wider adoption. The Financial Services and Markets (Digital Token Service Providers) Regulations 2025 came into operation on 30 June 2025. Similar efforts in Portugal and the UAE have established clear guidelines for merchant acceptance, custody, and anti-money laundering compliance. These frameworks give travel companies the confidence to integrate crypto payments into their systems without facing uncertain legal risks. For Gen Z users, it reduces the chance of payment failures and increases trust in the process. The Outlook Ahead Crypto's share of travel payments is still in the single digits, but its growth trajectory suggests this will change quickly. If current adoption rates continue, digital assets could account for a significant portion of high-value travel bookings by 2027, especially for international trips. For Gen Z, crypto payments are not a novelty. They are part of a broader shift toward financial tools that are fast, borderless, and in their control. Travel providers that understand and adapt to these preferences stand to win long-term loyalty from a generation that will soon represent the majority of global travelers.
