GGH doctors, staff told to deliver best services
Lakshmisha, the chairman of the Hospital Development Society (HDS), presided over the meeting held at the hospital on Wednesday. The society discussed various subjects and gave approval to the proposals made by the members. The society has allocated Rs 5.17 lakh to pulmonology department, Rs 4.50 lakh to gynaecology, Rs 10.90 lakh for microbiology, Rs 10.90 lakh to ENT, Rs 2.82 lakh to DVL department and Rs 3.74 lakh to emergency department.
Lakshmisha said the government has recently collected public opinion from the patients on the functioning of the government hospitals and the report submitted on the GGH-Vijayawada is really pathetic. He said the medical and health services, supply of medicine, functioning of the doctors and staff and saniAtation are not up to the mark. He said the Hospital Development Society meetings should not confine to infrastructure development but also focus on improving the medical services to the patients. He said the GGH will get top rank in the public opinion conducted by the government, if the medical services are good.
He urged the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and others to work with a team spirit and coordination to achieve the desired results.
The collector warned that stern action would be taken for negligence of duties.
He said many poor patients can't afford treatment in the private hospitals and they come to the government hospital with a hope to get medical services. He said the doctors and staff should feel that services to the poor patients are equal to the services to the god. He said minister for medical and health Satya Kumar Yadav is ready to give cooperation to allocate funds to the government hospitals.
Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan said GGH is one of the biggest hospitals in the state and asked the doctors to impart good medical services to the patients.
He asked the hospital management to pay special attention to sanitation. Additional Director of medical education Dr Venkatesh, DM&HO Dr M Suhasini, GGH superintendent R Venkateswara Rao, Medical college principal Dr P Ashok Kumar, RMOs Dr Padmavathi, Dr Mangadevi and Dr Srinivas, Dr Nagarjuna and other doctors and officials were present.

Injured woman dies in ambulance after spending hours stuck in traffic on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway
Palghar: A 49-year-old woman's visit to her former school ended in a tragedy after she suffered severe injuries in a tree fall incident there and died on the way to hospital as the ambulance ferrying her got stuck in a traffic jam for several hours on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway (NH-48) in Palghar district recently. CMCH surgeons perform rare limb salvage surgery
COIMBATORE: The orthopaedics department at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) performed a complex limb salvage surgery on the shoulder bone of a 57-year-old man. M Eswaran of Moongiltholuvu village near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district was admitted to CMCH in July with a swollen left shoulder, which was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma that had metastasized from oesophageal cancer. Dr S Vetrivel Chezian, director of the Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, said metastasis is common in the knee bone and the joints of the lower limbs, such as the thighs. He added that the typically diagnosed age group is young adults around thirty. He said, "The foremost factor is its rare occurrence in the upper part of the body, followed by age. Usually, when tumours are encountered at the secondary stage, that particular portion gets paralysed. But Eswaran's arm movements were intact. That's why we decided to save the bone and do a custom-made prosthesis on the left shoulder. Almost 15 cm of the prosthesis was inserted, retaining the patient's elbow bone and the rest of the limb bone. ' The surgery was multidisciplinary. 'This is the first such case in CMCH so far. Karnataka Govt Cancels Leave For Health Staff During ASHA Workers' 3-Day Strike
Last Updated: The Karnataka Health Dept banned leave for staff from August 12-14 due to an ASHA workers' strike demanding a promised Rs 10,000 monthly honorarium. The Karnataka Health Department has issued a directive prohibiting all officers and staff from taking leave for three days staring Tuesday. The directive mentioned that leave can be taken in cases of medical emergencies. The notice was issued in response to a planned three-day strike by ASHA workers beginning tomorrow. The strike, announced by ASHA workers across the state, is scheduled to be held from August 12 to 14. The workers are demanding the fixed monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 that was promised by the state government in January but is yet to be implemented. In a circular, the department stated that daily attendance reports of ASHA workers would be collected from primary health centres, compiled at the district level, and submitted to the commissionerate by 3pm each day of the protest. The notice stated, 'Information about ASHA workers absent from duty within district limits will be collected daily from primary health centres, compiled at the district level, and submitted to the commissionerate by 3 pm during the protest." The department has also called on community health officers, primary health protection officers, health inspectors, and Anganwadi workers to ensure uninterrupted public health services during the agitation. ASHA workers went on an indefinite strike in January over their several demands, including that of monthly honorarium. Their strike prompted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to announce the monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 four days later.
