Family says motorcyclist's remains found at scene weeks after CHP pursuit resulted in his death
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A new claim filed against the County of Kern accused officials of mishandling the crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist who was fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers in December.
The family of the motorcyclist, Clay Uriah McLean, claimed they found McLean's remains at the scene of the crash weeks after the incident, which resulted in 'severe trauma' for the family.
The claim also alleged the county didn't tell the family McLean was missing body parts.

'After the crash, Kern County, the State of California and the City of Bakersfield failed to adequately inform, investigate, monitor and clean up the scene,' the claim states.
On Dec. 27, CHP officers tried to stop McLean, 20, for a Vehicle Code violation before losing sight of him at around 7:28 p.m., according to CHP.
McLean, on a yellow 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, was involved in a wreck with a Jaguar sedan at Berkshire Road and Perla Way shortly after, officials said.
McLean was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last week we asked you to share the weirdest car you've seen used by your local government, and the answers were sufficiently strange. Some cars that your local governments use aren't even sold in this country, but that doesn't stop them from being mighty useful. Other cars that you've seen used by local governments work in roles that demand respect, but the vehicles chosen are potentially the least intimidating vehicles possible. My answer to the question is still the first-generation Honda Civic Hybrid that I saw recently being used by the City of Los Angeles as the street sweeper chase vehicle. It was a pre-facelift model which means it had to be a 2003 model year car that is still serving is civic duty over 20 years later, and while I appreciate that the government isn't spending needlessly on expensive brand-new cars, I am still surprised that such an old vehicle is still in service. California wagon train reenactors start yearly trek through Sierra Nevada
People heading up and back from Lake Tahoe will be in for a throwback sight along Highway 50 this week. The annual Highway 50 Association Wagon Train started its trek up and down the mountains Sunday. Now in its 76th year, the parade celebrates California's Gold Rush history with reenactors making the journey in period attire and transportation. Sunday marked the start of the journey in Round Hill Village, Nev. The wagon train is scheduled to stop in several locations as it goes up and down the mountain, with Monday being the day the group made it up to Echo Summit. The Wagon Train is here! The annual Wagon Train's second day started today at Amacker Ranch. It will travel west on...
