Family says motorcyclist's remains found at scene weeks after CHP pursuit resulted in his death
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A new claim filed against the County of Kern accused officials of mishandling the crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist who was fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers in December. The family of the motorcyclist, Clay Uriah McLean, claimed they found McLean's remains at the scene of the crash weeks after the incident, which resulted in 'severe trauma' for the family. The claim also alleged the county didn't tell the family McLean was missing body parts. RELATED: Coroner ID's motorcyclist killed in crash during CHP pursuit 'After the crash, Kern County, the State of California and the City of Bakersfield failed to adequately inform, investigate, monitor and clean up the scene,' the claim states. On Dec. 27, CHP officers tried to stop McLean, 20, for a Vehicle Code violation before losing sight of him at around 7:28 p.m., according to CHP. McLean, on a yellow 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, was involved in a wreck with a Jaguar sedan at Berkshire Road and Perla Way shortly after, officials said. McLean was pronounced dead at the scene. Danville man sentenced to prison for illegal gun possession, having drugs in jail
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in two separate cases — one where he unlawfully possessed a gun and one where he had cocaine while he was in custody. Vermilion County court records show that Tymone Jackson, 39, was charged with a total of 10 counts across two cases that were opened against him last year. On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to two charges in each case — unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance in a penal institution. Those are Class 2 and Class 1 felonies, respectively. UPDATE: Body found in Rantoul's Heritage Lake remains unidentified The Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office said that on Oct. 24, 2024, Jackson was driving a car that was stopped for a Vehicle Code violation. The Sheriff's deputy who initiated the traffic stop observed 'suspicious activity' that led to a search of the car and the occupants. Deputies found a loaded handgun, which Jackson was not allowed to have due to a previous conviction. The State's Attorney's Office also said less than two weeks after Jackson's arrest, a Sheriff's investigator received information that drugs were present in the Vermilion County Public Safety Building. Following this lead, Jackson was questioned and searched; the investigator found cocaine concealed on Jackson's person. U of I student, pro-Palestine protestor cleared of felony charge in trial 'This defendant, who was already facing serious charges for illegally possessing a weapon, showed complete disregard for the law by bringing illegal drugs into the Public Safety Building,' State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said in a news release. 'Not only was his behavior illegal, but he endangered the security of our correctional facility, staff and inmates.' For these crimes, Jackson was sentenced to 12 years in prison for unlawful possession of a weapon and six years for possession of contraband. Those sentences will be served concurrently.
