At the India Global Forum 2025 in London, ISKCON monk Gauranga Das shared a fascinating personal story involving none other than Google CEO Sundar Pichai, sparking conversations about stress, spirituality, and the digital crisis.
Speaking on the final day of the event, Gauranga Das—an IIT Bombay graduate who left behind a promising engineering career to pursue a spiritual path—recalled his meeting with Pichai, who was part of the same IIT batch, albeit in a different branch. The two never crossed paths in college, but when they met years later, Pichai was quick to compliment the monk's youthful appearance.
The spiritual leader attributed the difference in their looks to the contrasting lives they lead. Pichai, 53, who navigates the fast-paced, high-pressure world of global tech, apparently told Das, that the monk looks younger than him. To which Gauranga Das responded that Sundar Pichai deals with Google, 'which creates stress,' whereas he deals with God, 'who releases stress.'
The anecdote quickly resonated with the audience, serving as a segue into the monk's broader message about digital addiction and its impact on mental health. Das warned about the growing psychological crisis being amplified by excessive screen time and social media use. Quoting alarming statistics, he said that 230 million people around the world are addicted to social media. He further claimed that in India alone, 70% of teenagers spend seven hours daily online and that one in seven people around the world is suffering from mental health issues. Gauranga Das, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, is a spiritual leader, environmentalist, and educator. Currently a member of ISKCON's Governing Body Commission, he serves as the director of Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV), a model of sustainable living founded by Radhanath Swami. Under his leadership, GEV received the UN World Tourism Organization Award in 2017 and gained accreditation with major UN bodies, including UNEP, ECOSOC, UNCCD, and CBD. Beyond environmental efforts, Gauranga Das plays a significant role in education and leadership development. He is on the board of the Govardhan School of Public Leadership, which prepares aspirants for the civil services, and he heads the Bhaktivedanta Research Centre, which preserves ancient Vedic manuscripts and offers postgraduate programs in philosophy.He is also the author of Art of Resilience and Art of Focus.Sundar Pichai was born on June 10, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Google's Find Hub app to get satellite location sharing: Here's how it could work
At this year's Google I/O, the tech giant announced that it is renaming Android's Find My Device network to Find Hub and that it would have satellite connectivity, at least in some capacity. Now, new strings of code found in the Find Hub app are giving us a glimpse of how the new functionality would work. According to a recent APK teardown by Android Authority, Google Find Hub v3.1.399-3 release has a few text strings which clearly refer to the upcoming functionality. The publication said that when Android users share their location with others using the Find Hub app, the app will send a 'one-off ping with your location', which means it won't continuously transmit your location in real-time, but instead drop a pin like Google Maps. As it turns out, there may be a daily limit to how many times you can ping your location using satellites, but currently, we have no idea what it will be. But given that satellite connectivity is pretty limited and expensive to maintain, these restrictions sound fairly reasonable. Google will also reportedly show how many pings a user has left for the day and how much more time they will have to wait before being able to use the feature again. Google had announced that Find Hub will be getting satellite connectivity sometime later, but the tech giant has yet to share a timeline on when it will be rolling out to everyone. However, some speculations suggest that the feature would be announced it at the upcoming Made by Google event, where the tech giant will be launching the much-anticipated Pixel 10 series phones.

Google Gemini rolls out ‘Temporary Chat' and ‘Personal Context' features to personalise AI conversations
Google is shaping Gemini into something more than a chatbot. The goal is to build an assistant that feels familiar and responsive, the one that gets to know you over time. With the new personal context feature, Gemini starts to do just that. It can now recall details you have shared before, like your preferences or past conversations, and use that knowledge to reply in a way that feels more considered and personal. In the past, only paid users could ask Gemini to recall older conversations. But now, with this new memory system, Gemini can automatically keep helpful details in mind as long as you turn the feature on. This makes each chat feel more natural, like talking to someone who already knows your style and what matters to you. Along with the personal chat feature Google has introduced a new feature called Temporary Chat. This lets you start a conversation where nothing gets saved or remembered, giving you a private space for one time questions or sensitive topics to discuss. Temporary Chat gives you a space where nothing is stored once you're done. You can ask what you need, get the answer, and move on without leaving anything behind. It works well for quick tasks, personal planning, or any moment you'd rather keep off the record. It could be checking a medical concern, getting legal guidance, or working through a budget. It's just as helpful when you're on a borrowed phone, sharing a device, or simply want the conversation to stay between you and the screen. Now Gemini is starting to remember things. Say you have mentioned you usually start work at eight or that you prefer vegetarian meals. A week later, Gemini brings that up in a response like it never forgot. That is the idea behind Personal Context. It remembers just enough to make the next conversation feel a little more familiar. There is nothing over the top about it. No pop ups reminding you of past chats. No summaries of what you said two days ago. It just listens in the background and tries to be more useful the next time you ask something. You notice it not because it announces anything, but because you didn't have to say the same thing twice. You are always in control of this memory. You can choose to turn it off at any time. You can also review what Gemini has remembered and delete specific details or clear everything if you prefer a fresh start. This gives users a level of privacy and control that is increasingly important as AI assistants grow more capable. Gemini is also getting small but meaningful changes around privacy and data settings. The 'Gemini Apps Activity' section is now called 'Keep Activity,' with the option to allow saved conversations to help improve Google services. Users who had this setting off will continue with it off by default, and it can be turned on or off anytime. There is also a separate toggle to decide if audio, video or screen shares made through the mic button or Gemini Live can be used to improve services. This setting is off by default, giving users more control over what gets shared.
