Even with moves in free agency, Caleb Williams' Bears still viewed as bottom-half team
The Bears undoubtedly have an immense amount of talent across the board, but even with all the talent there is concern: Will everything end up a success for Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson? In a new NFL preseason ranking for all 32 teams, the Chicago Bears finished in the bottom half at No. 20. Here are USA TODAY Sports analyst Nate Davis's thoughts on why the Bears should be slotted as the 20th-best team in the NFL:
"Highly regarded new coach. Talented second-year quarterback. An offseason loaded with major moves. Don't be surprised if their 2024 win total (5) doubles."
The Bears have all the makings of a team that turns things around quickly and makes the playoffs, but it still has not been all blue skies at Halas Hall for the Bears in training camp. The Chicago Bears should be higher than 20, especially with the New England Patriots in front of them. The Pats have less talent and more question marks. The Chicago Bears at the very least are a top-15 team in the NFL and have a potential ceiling of being a top-10 team and an NFC threat.
The Bears will go as far as Caleb Williams takes them. He should be able to do what few Bears quarterbacks have ever done while also doubling last year's win total.

Falcons sign QB Ben DiNucci to replace injured Emory Jones for final preseason game at Dallas
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons signed quarterback Ben DiNucci on Monday to provide depth for Friday's final preseason game at Dallas. The Falcons needed help at quarterback after Emory Jones, competing with Easton Stick for the No. 3 job, was hurt in last week's 23-20 loss to Tennessee. Jones was placed in concussion protocol and waived/injured on Monday. Coach Raheem Morris said starter Michael Penix Jr. and veteran backup Kirk Cousins will not play against the Cowboys. Stick is expected to start. The Falcons also released wide receiver DJ Chark on Monday. DiNucci, a seventh-round draft pick by Dallas in 2020, played in three NFL games, including one start, in his rookie season. He completed 23 of 43 passes for 219 yards. DiNucci participated in Atlanta's rookie minicamp in May after spending time on Buffalo's roster in 2024.
