Man climbs Carnival cruise ship; cruiser injured during excursion
Although challenging yourself to reach new heights is encouraged on some cruise ships that feature rock climbing walls or ropes courses, attempting to scale the side of cruise ship docked in port is a very unwise decision.
It's not only dangerous, but also a surefire way to get yourself arrested.

And a Memphis family's graduation cruise turned tragic in the Bahamas [when] 22-year-old Hannah Smith was seriously injured after falling from an excursion boat and being struck by the propeller, which hit her lower extremities.
This happened as the boat was returning to the cruise pier from an island off of Nassau. She underwent two surgeries in The Bahamas and is now back in the U.S. in critical condition with more surgeries ahead. Authorities have not said exactly how she went overboard.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with her long road to recovery. The description of this video includes a link to it.

And a Carnival cruise ship rescued five people drifting in a makeshift raft off the coast of Cuba. The Carnival Paradise, which was sailing from Tampa, spotted the group and brought them on board giving food, water, and medical attention.
While some accepted the rescue, 10 others stayed in the raft and wanted to keep rolling. The U.S. Coast Guard coordinated the next steps for the rescued individuals. The cruise ship continued with its itinerary.

Search group warns against fake fundraiser exploiting two children missing in N.S.
HALIFAX - Halifax Search and Rescue is warning against fraudsters impersonating their group who claim they'll use donated cash to search for two missing children. Paul Service, director of the volunteer organization, says a GoFundMe campaign attempted to raise $100,000 to fund a drone to search for four-year-old Jack Sullivan and six-year-old Lilly Sullivan. A large-scale search was launched for the two children after they disappeared on May 2 in Lansdowne Station, N.S., and there have been two, smaller efforts since then involving volunteer searchers. The non-profit group says it doesn't normally request donations through GoFundMe and doesn't base its campaigns on particular searches. Service says a representative from GoFundMe contacted him to say it was taking down the site and investigating after the campaign was reported on CBC. He says that it is disheartening for his group to have to cope with scams, as it may discourage the public from donating to his group's legitimate fundraising efforts. Body found off Dungeness believed to be that of missing kayaker
A body has been pulled from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Clallam County Sheriff's Office believes it is that of a kayaker who went missing in May. On May 13, 21-year-old Ty Coone called 911 for himself to report that the was drowning and struggling in the water. His phone's GPS placed him north of Cline Spit. Deputies say Coone's kayak, life vest, and paddle were recovered that day, but he was no where to be found. The search and rescue team says they believe Coone was fishing from his kayak when he fell in. The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to help with the search. A body was pulled off Dungeness on June 1. Law enforcement will need to wait until official dental comparisons confirm that the body is Coone's, but they believe it is. Coone's friend, Bryson Morris, started a GoFundMe for his family. 'Ty was one of a kind—full of life, laughter, and love. From dirtbike tracks to bonfire nights, he brought people together and made every moment unforgettable,' He wrote. 'His spirit, humor, and kindness touched so many lives, and now it's our turn to give back and lay him to rest with the love and dignity he deserves.' The hope is to raise enough for a burial and headstone. Coone's family held a Sequim memorial service on May 31 at Sequim Community Church. Another local Celebration of Life is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the big barn at 702 Kitchen-Dick Road in Sequim, with music, food and a slideshow, according to the Sequim Gazette.
