UTT Season 6: Sreeja Akula's Jaipur Patriots qualify for semis after win vs PBG Pune Jaguars
Undefeated Sreeja Akula propelled Jaipur Patriots to their first Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) semi-finals, following their 9-6 victory over PBG Pune Jaguars in the penultimate league stage game of Season 6 on Wednesday.
With their win, Jaipur Patriots accrued a total of 41 points and climbed to the second spot in the table, three behind leaders Dempo Goa Challengers. Meanwhile, PBG Pune Jaguars were put out of the reckoning for the playoffs, with only one berth remaining ahead of tomorrow's final league stage match between U Mumba TT and Dabang Delhi TTC.

UTT Season 6: U Mumba qualify for semis, end Dabang Delhi's unbeaten streak
U Mumba TT secured the fourth and final semi-final spot with a 10-5 win over Dabang Delhi TTC in the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 6 on Thursday. While the defeat ended Delhi's four-tie winning run, the Season 2 champions still finished top of the league table with 44 points. Both teams wore black armbands and observed a minute's silence before kick-off to pay respect to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash tragedy. Lilian Bardet gave U Mumba TT the perfect start, defeating Sathiyan Gnanasekaran 2-1 in the opening singles rubber. Szocs picked up the double honours of the Foreign Player and Shot of the Tie, while Yashaswini was named the Indian Player of the Tie. Dabang Delhi will now face Jaipur Patriots in the first semi-final, while reigning champions Dempo Goa Challengers will take on U Mumba TT in the second. Sreeja finds a purple patch in Jaipur's pink
Almost a year ago, Sreeja Akula was flying high. While achieving a rare feat of an Indian paddler featuring in the singles round-of-16 at the Olympics (she and Manika Batra both made it to the women's singles pre-quarterfinals at Paris 2024), Sreeja was also on the brink of breaking into the top-20 world rankings. But soon after returning from Paris, Sreeja was diagnosed with a stress fracture that took longer than expected to heal. Since then, she hasn't been as dynamic on the world stage as she was in the 12 months leading to the Olympics.
