Okaloosa County rest area to receive upgrades, more truck parking
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — An Interstate 10 eastbound rest area and truck parking improvement project begins this month in Okaloosa County, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The project, located at mile marker 59, will include these improvements, according to an FDOT news release:
Expanding the truck parking area
Enhancing the Truck Parking Availability System
Installing new lighting
Updating signage and pavement markings
The rest area will be open to the public during construction, but periodic I-10 eastbound lane closures may happen between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday, the release said.

In the middle of this year, the truck parking area will be closed for 120 days, according to the release, which said construction should be completed in late 2026.

U.S. 231 Road Improvement Project to begin in Bay County
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Florida Department of Transportation will begin an intersection improvement project later this summer at U.S. 231 at Pipeline Road in Bay County. According to a news release, the project will cost $2.6 million and will cause lane closures and traffic shifts. Lane closures will not occur during peak travel times of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; until Labor Day, lane closures will be limited to Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Bay County OKs FDOT grant for road resurfacing and other improvements The project includes the installation of new mast arm traffic signals, as well as new signing and pavement markings. Pipeline Road will be widened to include new left turn lanes for accessing U.S. 231, and crews will be removing the median and realigning the intersection; they will also be milling and resurfacing the pavement. Enhancements will be made to stormwater management to include the installation of concrete curbs and gutters as well as a closed pipe drainage system. Woman dies in Monroe County crash
MONROE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A Walnut Hill, Florida, woman has died after a crash in Monroe County that happened on Thursday, May 15, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Florida state troopers are searching for a man they said hit a motorcycle and fled the scene. Escambia County woman seriously injured in crash According to the , officers were called to a crash on Blue Angel Parkway and Longleaf Creek around 4 p.m. on May 30. LOCATION: When officers arrived, they found that the driver of a Nissan Altima had hit the rear left side of a motorcycle, which then caused the motorcycle to hit the right rear corner of a Nissan Rogue, according to an FHP crash report. The driver of the Altima then allegedly continued south, causing a second collision where it hit the rear left corner of the Rogue. FHP officials said the driver of the Altima then fled from the scene, eventually abandoning the car at a Circle K gas station on Mobile Highway. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the crash.
