New Zealand-based wellness and skincare brand Mānuka Health has launched at The Detox Market and Violet Grey, both in-store and online.
The curated launch assortment includes the brand's core Mānuka Honey 400+ and 800+, Propolis Immunity Elixir Shots, and its Eternal Renewal skincare line, featuring the Regenerating Face Cream and Nourishing Lip Balm. Also available at The Detox Market stores are Royal Jelly and 100% New Zealand Propolis capsules.
"At Mānuka Health, we believe that what you put in your body and on your skin should be thoughtfully sourced and efficacious," said Travis Brennion, head of global marketing and innovation at Mānuka Health.
"Partnering with The Detox Market and Violet Grey, both true leaders in curated luxury, ingredient transparency, and clinically effective formulas, feels like a natural extension of our mission. We're thrilled to join forces in empowering consumers to make informed, confident choices through high-performing formulas rooted in nature and backed by science.'
Mānuka Health is known for sustainably harvesting its ingredients, including mānuka honey, royal jelly, propolis, and bee venom from wild mānuka trees in New Zealand's pristine regions. These ingredients are preserved through proprietary processes designed to retain the natural bioactive compounds found in the hive to create high-performing formulas that remain close to their natural state.
The expansion comes as retailers respond to rising consumer demand for microbiome-friendly and immune-supportive rituals.
"Partnering with Mānuka Health marks an exciting evolution in our definition of beauty,' said Sherif Guirgis, CEO of Violet Grey. "Their clinically credible, exquisitely crafted formulas represent a new frontier in luxury wellness, where beauty and vitality are part of a complete, holistic system. We're proud to bring their story and trusted products to our community as we continue to set the standard for what the best in beauty truly means.'
Romain Gaillard, founder of The Detox Market, added: 'Mānuka Health embodies the future of wellness and beauty, rooted in nature, backed by science, and crafted with intention. Their commitment to ingredient purity and proven efficacy aligns perfectly with what our community seeks: clean solutions that truly perform. We're excited to introduce a brand that so seamlessly bridges internal wellness and topical ritual, bringing something both trusted and transformative to our shelves."

'We often go to bed on empty stomachs': In Ethiopia's Afar region, hunger takes its toll

Farah waited silently in the corridor of the pediatric ward at Abala Hospital in northern Ethiopia. Sitting on a small bench with her 8-month-old baby on her lap, the 32-year-old woman appeared calm that morning. "He's almost recovered because he's eating properly now," she said, adjusting the yellow scarf slipping from her forehead. "When I first came here two months ago, he was very sick. Because of his diarrhea, he became very weak. I was scared." Farah, a single mother of three, has never been able to feed her baby the way she wanted to. "I didn't have milk," she said. "I eat very little myself: a bit of bread in the morning and sometimes a piece in the evening. I cannot afford real meals. The little money we have comes from my eldest son, who sells toothbrushes on the street." Like Farah, every day, dozens of mothers turn up at Abala hospital with their malnourished children. Between January and February 2025, 1,768 new cases of severe acute malnutrition were detected, an increase of 44.3% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the non-governmental organization Première Urgence Internationale, which oversees treatment in the ward. In this arid region, the prevalence of this condition stands at 15%, exceeding the critical threshold set by the World Health Organization. In its latest report published in January 2025, the Famine Early Warning Systems Network, a US-based alert and prevention network, classified the northwest of the region, where Abala is located, as being in an "emergency situation" – one step short of famine. In total, in Ethiopia, more than 10 million people suffer from hunger and malnutrition, the World Food Program warned in April.

Trump urges Coca-Cola to use cane sugar, sparking backlash from Midwestern corn producers

Would you rather have corn syrup or cane sugar? That question has been on Americans' minds since Coca-Cola confirmed on Tuesday, July 22, that it would now produce a portion of its sweetened beverage using cane sugar in the US market. Donald Trump, a well-known fan of Diet Coke – which substitutes regular sugar with aspartame – spilled the beans on July 16, praising the shift by the Atlanta-based company. "I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I'd like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola," the president said in a message posted on his Truth Social platform. "This will be a very good move by them – You'll see. It's just better!" High-fructose corn syrup has come under fire from Trump and his health secretary, Robert Kennedy Jr., who has made the fight against junk food his top priority. "MAHA wins," Kennedy posted on X on July 19, referencing the acronym MAHA – modeled after Trump's MAGA ("Make America Great Again") – which stands for "Make America Healthy Again." But is that really true? Kennedy declared in April: "Sugar is poison." No one disputes this in a country plagued by endemic obesity, and all experts agree that it's necessary to reduce sugar consumption. "What makes soda unhealthy is that it's liquid sugar, providing empty calories with no nutritional benefits. Swapping one type of sugar for another does nothing to make soda healthier," Eva Greenthal, a researcher at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, told CNN.

What are the most searched jobs for English speakers across Europe?

Emergency medical technicians, social workers, and teachers are among the most searched jobs on Google by English-speaking people who are considering working abroad. This is according to a study from A4ord, a Berlin-based company providing a multicultural services platform. Spain sees the highest interest for any role, especially in the emergency medical technician profession (EMT), which emerged as the most sought-after position with 99,343 monthly searches. One of the causes leading to this job being so popular can be related to 20.4% of Spain's total population in 2024 being aged 65 or over, according to Eurostat's latest figures. The ageing population causes an increase in age-related emergencies, such as heart attacks and strokes, and drives up the need for EMTs. Searches for EMT in Spain are higher than in many other European countries combined. Social worker emerged as the second most searched-for job in Europe for immigrants. It is the top result in three European Union countries, which include the Netherlands, Ireland, and Lithuania. In Italy, musician is the most popular job role with over 6,000 monthly searches. Italy is also the only country where this role topped the list. Searches in Germany indicate a strong interest in fitness roles, with personal trainer being the most searched role. Data scientist ranks third in Germany with 4,340 searches, reflecting the country's growing tech sector. Denmark sees the highest search volume for a receptionist role with 2,833 monthly searches. Smaller European nations showed more modest search volumes, with Luxembourg's top job being chemist.
