Glasgow will host a first-of-its-kind 'ultimate sporting battle' this weekend.
Ultimate Frisbee teams from Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales will compete in the inaugural Four Nations Ultimate (4NU) tournament on Saturday, August 9, at Hillhead Sports Club in the west end of the city.
The mixed-gender competition will see national teams battle it out in a fast-paced format, with players showcasing elite-level skill, strategy, and athleticism in a growing sport.

Shaun Webb, one of the event organisers and a prominent figure in Scottish Ultimate Frisbee, said: "This keenly-contested trophy and the spectacle of highly-skilled players from the four nations make for a landmark event bringing the sport further recognition and elevating it further in the public's consciousness.
"Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting display of skills, tactics, athleticism, and sportsmanship.
"Although the sport has a growing following, it is still in its infancy.
(Image: Martin Shields) "We are passionate about growing the game and bringing the sport to a whole new generation of players.
"The UK and Ireland have a wealth of dedicated and talented athletes and it is our belief that the 4NU format is the best way to showcase our sport to a larger audience.
"This unique tournament will unite fans with a festival atmosphere and ignite new rivalries between sporting nations."
The event has received sponsorship from The Watson Foundation and is dedicated to the memory of former player Matt Tomlinson.
The tournament trophy will be named in his honour, and organisers say the event would not have been possible without the fundraising efforts of the Tomlinson family.
Tickets are £5 for adults, with free entry for under-16s.
Doors open at noon, with the first game starting at 12.30pm.
The finals will take place from 5.50pm.

Nwaneri signs new long-term Arsenal deal

Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year contract which will keep him at the Premier League club until the summer of 2030. The 18-year-old's previous deal had been set to expire in June 2026. "It means everything to me, I'm so happy to have got it done. This is where I feel at home, and where I'm going to develop the best," he said. "I'm very excited. I see this as my first real season and part of a proper squad in the changing room. I'm so excited for what I can bring to the team and how I can help the team. "I think I've actually become more direct over the past few years and I've added more goals, so I'm excited for what will come next." Nwaneri made headlines when he became the youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League aged 15 years and 181 days old against Brentford in September 2022. And the attacking midfielder made 37 appearances and scored nine goals in all competitions during a breakthrough campaign for the Gunners last term. He capped a fine 2024-25 season by helping England Under-21s defend their European Championship title in Slovakia in June. Warrington Rylands prepare for home opener against manager's old club

NEIL Reynolds expects a buoyant Bamber Bridge side to provide his Warrington Rylands players with a big test in their first home game of the new season tonight. However, he insists his own group should feel the same following their own display on the opening day. Blues had an eventful opener at Rushall Olympic on Saturday in a game which saw Ben Hardcastle miss a penalty and both sides have a man sent off – the 'seven-day rule' which applies to suspensions in the Northern Premier League means Matt Regan will be available for Tuesday's game despite his red card. Eventually, the two teams shared the spoils but now, Rylands face a Brig side who produced arguably the most eye-catching result in the division at the weekend by beating a well-fancied Guiseley side 2-0. It is the first of back-to-back home fixtures for Blues, with Gainsborough Trinity the visitors to WA2 on Saturday. Preston native Reynolds has a lengthy history with Tuesday's opponents in terms of playing and managing and hailed the side his counterpart Jamie Milligan has put together over the summer. Now, he wants to see his own side build on the positives they can take from their trip to Rushall and convert it into a first win of the new campaign. 'Bamber Bridge have had a good win – Milly's got a great side there,' he said. 'I look forward to reuniting with some old friends of mine at Bamber Bridge – it will be great to see them. 'They'll come to us with their tails up, but our tails should be up as well after Saturday. 'I'm super proud of them – there's a couple who need to get their heads up but nobody should be disappointed with themselves. 'They're an exceptional bunch which is why I've put them together.' Kick off at Gorsey Lane is at 7.45pm tonight.

Swans chase first win of season in Crawley reunion

Swansea City have met Crawley Town only once in their history, during the run which ended with the Welsh club's one major trophy. Twelve years on from their triumph over Bradford City at Wembley, Swansea face Crawley once more in the League Cup. The circumstances are a little different this time around. Crawley are in League Two rather than League One, as they were when Swansea – then of the Premier League – visited in September 2012. Swansea's starting side that night featured the likes of Ben Davies, Leon Britton and Ki Sung-Yueng as well as Michu, who scored to put Michael Laudrup's team 1-0 up. But Crawley threatened to cause a shock as they led 2-1 with 16 minutes remaining, only for Danny Graham to level before a rare goal from club skipper Garry Monk gave Swansea victory in stoppage time. Five months later, Monk and Co were lifting the trophy under Wembley's arch. The best Swansea have managed since then in the League Cup is two runs to the fourth round, in 2014-15 and 2017-18. Having been knocked out in round two in each of the last two seasons, Swansea will hope to clear the first hurdle in what is now the Carabao Cup as Alan Sheehan eyes a first win of 2025-26. This is a first home game of the new campaign for Sheehan's team, who were beaten by a set-piece goal in a forgettable Championship opener at Middlesbrough on Saturday. With Sheffield United to come next in the league this weekend, a win against a Crawley side who have begun the campaign with back-to-back fourth tier defeats would be welcome – while anything less would mean a blow to early-season morale.
