Ryan Reynolds buys another stadium in ‘significant milestone' for Wrexham
The move is part of Wrexham's bid to invest more heavily in their women's team
Reynolds and McElhenney have acquired another stadium
Wrexham have passed a 'significant milestone' by purchasing a second stadium to go along with their Racecourse home.
The club has confirmed the purchase of The Rock in Rhosymedre, north Wales, which has been the home of Wrexham Women since the summer of 2023, and has also been the home ground of domestic Welsh side Cefn Druids since 2010. The move to buy the 3,000-capacity stadium comes as part of a push from the club's Hollywood owners to invest in the Women's side of the club, and will see the stadium become the permanent home of their women's team.
Cefn Druids will also continue to play and train there under the new arrangement.
The stadium features a 512-seater stand, and gets its name due to its location next to a disused quarry, with one side of the ground being met with a sheer rock wall.

"It illustrates our continued commitment to supporting and growing the women's game in North Wales.
'Having a venue in the Wrexham County Borough and close to the STōK Cae Ras gives us flexibility, allowing the Women's first team to train and play matches locally, while still having access to a larger venue when needed.
'We'll begin with essential maintenance ahead of the new season, followed by a longer-term vision to enhance the pitch, stadium, and surrounding infrastructure.
'Our goal is not only to establish a top-tier facility for our Women's team but also to protect and revitalise a key community asset, one that can inspire the next generation of women's football across the region."
Des Williams, Cefn Druids chairman, said: "I am delighted that The Rock passes into the hands of Wrexham AFC and becomes the official home and training centre of Wrexham AFC Women.
"Cefn Druids will continue to use the facility for training and fixtures, and this was an important part of the deal.

'Wrexham AFC Women have been using The Rock as their home now for the past two seasons ever since they reached the Adran Premier League.
"I can think of no more fitting venue for them to continue their adventure at the very highest level of Welsh women's football.
"I wish them all the very best of luck for the new season."

Wrexham AFC: Conor Coady reflects on Southampton defeat
Phil Parkinson's men, fresh from securing a record-breaking third successive promotion, lost 2-1 in front of a full-house at St Mary's Stadium. Josh Windass gave the Reds the lead from the penalty spot midway through the first half but the Saints, relegated from the Premier League last term, equalised in the 90th minute before scoring the winner deep into added time. It was a heartbreaking end after Wrexham produced a superb display for the majority of the contest and that only gives summer signing Coady heart going forward. 'I am hugely disappointed,' said Coady. 'I'm someone who's shocking when we get beat anyway so to get beat in that manner was tough. 'When it dies down a little bit over the next couple days, we will look back on the performance and pick out some really good bits. 'Have we got to learn? Of course we have 'I think the whole football club has got to learn, including myself, and we will look back at the result and see where we can get better. 'But I thought we really hurt Southampton at times. The way we played, we had our moments in the game. 'We had a couple of chances in the first half, me as well with the chance I put over the bar. 'Just them little moments in the game, can we get right because I think if we do, and we go two or three nil up, it's a perfect performance so really disappointed, but we can take positives.' Ten-time England international Coady, who joined from Leicester City, adds experience to the squad with 485 professional appearances, 198 coming in the Premier League. After starting his career at boyhood club Liverpool where he made two senior appearances, Coady also played for Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, Wolves and Everton. He is one of eight new signings at The Racecourse, with more expected before the transfer window closes, and he believes the early signs are good with new-look Wrexham still gelling but the 32-year-old insists there is still room for improvement. 'I'll look at it individually what I can do better, how we can get better, how we can get better as a club, but we will get better,' added Coady. 'Let's not take anything away from Southampton, they were in the Premier League last season and Wrexham were in League One. 'We're in a position now where we're fighting with these teams. We're showing that we can play, we've shown we've got an idea. 'New lads have come into the team and playing really well. 'I think it's something to build on and show that we can trust ourselves to be at this level because we've shown against a team who got relegated last season that we can perform. 'Just make sure it's one game at a time. The next one is Tuesday night and just keep it a game at a time and enjoy the ride.'

Hardie apologised for missing 'crucial' Wrexham chance
Wrexham forward Ryan Hardie says he apologised to his team-mates for missing a "crucial" chance at Southampton that might have sealed a thrilling opening-day was put through on goal after coming off the bench at St Mary's but saw his shot brilliantly fingertipped to safety by Saints goalkeeper Gavin the 28-year-old scored, it would have put Wrexham 2-0 up, but a few moments later Ryan Manning brought Southampton level before Jack Stephens bundled in the winner six minutes into injury time. "I don't get massively disappointed missing chances if they come along quite often, but the one that I missed was crucial in the game," said the Scottish striker, who joined Wrexham from Plymouth Argyle in June."If I had put that in, I think it would've then been a different game. So I took time to apologise to everyone."It's part and parcel of being a striker - we're going to miss some chances. But the keeper made a great save. It was just one of those days, but we've also got to do our jobs better and see the game out." Hardie is hoping to make his first competitive start for the Red Dragons when they host Hull City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday (19:45 BST)."The atmosphere at the weekend was brilliant - even when we came out for the warm-up, the fans were incredible," said Hardie."If there's an extra 7,000 or 8,000 on top of that at home on Tuesday night, it's going to be bouncing for sure."I'm excited to play there [at Stok Cae Ras] for the first time, and the cup gives people opportunities to play, to get minutes."We want to go as far as we can in the competition."
