'Freakier Friday" Trailer Is Here
Yara Sameh The official trailer for Nisha Ganatra's 'Freakier Friday,' starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has finally been unveiled. The movie is a sequel to the 2003 comedy 'Freaky Friday,' starring Curtis and Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the sequel features a 'multigenerational twist,' with the pic picking up many years after Tess and Anna originally swapped bodies. Anna has a daughter of her own, plus a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Tess and Anna navigate the challenges that come with merging two families and 'discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.' Joining Curtis and Lohan are returning stars Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. 'The Acolyte' star Manny Jacinto, 'Never Have I Ever' breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters have joined the sequel. The original movie, based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name, follows Tess and Anna, a mother-daughter pair. Tess, a widowed mother, is prepping for a big wedding while musician Anna gears up for a gig that could make or break her band. When the two receive a mystical fortune cookie that causes them to swap bodies, they're forced to accept each other unconditionally. Disney officially announced in March 2024 that the sequel was moving forward, with Ganatra directing. The filmmaker and screenwriter has helmed episodes of Hulu's 'Welcome to Chippendales' and Max's 'And Just Like That…' and directed feature films 'The High Note,' starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and 'Late Night,' starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson. Andrew Gunn, who produced the first movie, is producing the sequel alongside former Disney exec Kristin Burr, with a script from 'Dollface' creator Jordan Weiss. The sequel is set to release in theaters on August 8. Mia Goth Joins Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy's "Star Wars: Starfighter"
Yara Sameh Mia Goth is headed to a galaxy far, far away. The 'Pearl' actress has joined the cast of Shawn Levy's 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' which also stars Ryan Gosling. Details of her role are currently being kept under wraps. The film is eyeing a fall production start and Disney has set a theatrical release date of May 28, 2027. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni officially unveiled plans for 'Starfighter' at the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo this April. The standalone focuses on new characters in the 'Star Wars' universe. It is set roughly five years after the events of 'Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker,' which concluded the Skywalker saga and currently stands as the final feature chronologically on the 'Star Wars' timeline. Goth will next appear in Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' alongside Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac, as well as Christopher Nolan's 'The Oddysey' with Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson. Previous credits include 'Emma,' 'Infinity Pool' and Ti West's film series of 'X,' 'Pearl' and 'Maxxxine.' 'Star Wars: Starfighter' marks Levy's directorial follow-up to Marvel Studios' hit buddy comedy 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' which raked in $1.3 billion at the global box office after releasing in July 2024 and stands as the highest-grossing R-rated feature of all-time. Jonathan Tropper has written the screenplay for the film.
