Meet BSF's Neha Bhandari, officer who led in crushing Pak posts during Operation Sindoor
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday presented the prestigious Commendation Disc to Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari of the Border Security Force (BSF).
She was awarded for her exceptional courage and operational leadership during Operation Sindoor, India's military precision strike against Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
Neha Bhandari, a third-generation officer from Uttarakhand, commands a BSF company deployed at the strategically sensitive Pargwal sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor, which is located just meters from the International Border.

During Operation Sindoor, under her command, BSF units neutralised three aggressive Pakistani posts, dismantling threats in real time despite operating from a position dangerously close to enemy lines.
Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari led her troops to silence three forward hostile posts across the zero line (area closest to enemy territory) by giving a befitting reply.
Apart from Neha, six women constables held a gun position on a forward border post, with their 'josh' rising with every bullet they fired at enemy positions across the IB in Samba-R S Pura-Akhnoor sectors.

"I feel proud to be manning a post along the International Border with my troops. It is approximately 150 meters away from the Pakistani post in the Akhnoor-Pargwal area," Neha told PTI news agency.
"It was an honour to serve at the forward post and give a befitting reply with all available weapons from my post to enemy posts," she added.
Neha's grandfather served in the Army, and her parents are from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), making her a third-generation officer in the family.
Giving details of how she silenced three hostile posts, resorting to unprovoked firing on her position during Operation Sindoor, she said, "I had three posts falling in my area. I pinned down the people at all three hostile locations. We hit them with every weapon we had. They were forced to flee their posts."

The posts were decimated to ensure they were silenced, she said, adding that her troops performed their best during retaliation.
Expressing the high morale among the troops manning the post, she said, "The 'josh' was quite high. Everyone among us gave their best, because everything we did was for the country and its honour."

Cong rally slams BJP over remarks by 2 MP ministers on Army
Jabalpur: A 'Jai Hind Sabha' organised by the Congress at the Shaheed Memorial here on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP over its two ministers' controversial remarks against the Army and its officer Col Sofiya Qureshi. Ex-servicemen gathered at the rally threatened to launch a statewide protest if action is not taken against the ministers. Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Shyam Lal Srivastava (retd) said if the BJP state govt does not take action against deputy CM Jagdish Devda and tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah, former soldiers will take to the streets in protest. "There are over 90,000 former soldiers and more than 100,000 active soldiers in the state." He said the statements made by the ministers were "very unfortunate, and the govt should have taken strict action, but it did not". The MP high court took note of Shah's objectionable statement. Former CM Kamal Nath, while addressing the gathering, said the large turnout proves your pride in the Army. "Jabalpur is proud to produce ammunition." He recalled witnessing the Bangladesh War of 1971 and mentioned how Indira Gandhi made strong decisions despite the US pressure. He expressed concern over unemployment, stating that if the youth's future remains bleak, how will the state develop? Another ex-CM Digvijays Singh said those who did not contribute to the country's Independence were now insulting the soldiers who were willing to die for the nation. He noted that despite the Army's respect for PM Narendra Modi, the BJP was not taking action against its leaders. The leader of opposition in the MP assembly, Umang Singhar, said the country's democracy was in danger, with BJP leaders insulting the army. He mentioned that they face mistreatment when they protest, and preparations were underway to "establish a dictatorial regime". Chhattisgarh former CM Bhupesh Baghel and Congress MP unit president Jitu Patwari also slammed the BJP on issues such as the insult to the army, women's safety, and ceasefire violations.

Pakistan: BLA fighters claim 'complete control' over Surab city in Balochistan
Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) freedom fighters on Saturday claimed that they have taken complete control of Surab city in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, paralysing all military, administrative, and financial structures of the 'enemy state' just as the Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir was visiting the provincial capital Quetta. Confirming the development, the spokesperson of BLA Jeeyand Baloch highlighted that the operation continued for more than three hours on Friday, during which 'freedom fighters' took up positions at all the important locations and highways in the city. He stated that the fighters took control of the Pakistani Levies (paramilitary force) station, police station, Deputy Commissioner (DC) office, guest house, and bank, and damaged 'enemy' infrastructure. 'During the operation, Freedom fighters arrested Levies and police personnel and seized 30 Kalashnikovs, along with other weapons and war equipment from the security posts at the police stations and DC office. These personnel were later released on conditional concessions based on their Baloch identity. Freedom fighters set fire to three vehicles of the enemy forces, state warehouses, a guest house and three banks, while two vehicles were taken into custody,' read the statement issued by the BLA. According to the statement, during the takeover of the DC office, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Hidayatullah Buledi attempted an attack the fighters, upon which fighters subdued him without causing any casualties and locked him in a room, adding that he died due to suffocation in the room, which was a completely accidental incident. 'Furthermore, BLA has taken complete control of Surab city and set up checkpoints on the Quetta-Karachi and Surab-Gidar main highways, further tightening restrictions on state movement through snap checking. This operation is a continuation of BLA's resolve to destroy every institution, every symbol, and every force of the occupying Pakistani state. We once again make it clear that our struggle will continue until Baloch national liberation is achieved,' the statement concluded. People from Balochistan are currently fighting for their independence from Pakistan. Various human rights organisations of Balochistan have time and again highlighted the repression by Pakistani forces in the province, which includes violent raids on the homes of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, the 'kill and dump' policy, detention under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the filing of fabricated police cases. Earlier this month, the BLA released a media statement titled 'A New Order has Become Inevitable in the Region', urging the world to recognise Pakistan as the creator of terrorists and a terrorist entity. It said that the history of Pakistan, currently facing diplomatic isolation for failed military policies, has been written with the patronage of broken promises, back-stabbing and terrorism. 'Pakistan is a breeding ground for global terrorists, is a centre for state-sponsored development of deadly terror groups like LeT, JeM and ISIS. Pakistan's ISI promotes these terror groups for terrorism purposes, a nuclear state with violent ideology. The Baloch nation without any external, military and financial support is able to defeat the world's seventh largest nuclear state. BLA has rendered the enemy helpless on every front. There can never be a lasting peace without the elimination of Pakistan,' read the statement.
