Arsenal transfer news: Andrea Berta switches attention to new target as Gunners plan five moves

Arsenal's work in the transfer window is not complete despite Mikel Arteta having a whole host of new players to choose from in time for his side's Premier League clash with Manchester United Three weeks of the transfer window remain, but Arsenal have already sewn up much of theirs. The new Premier League season gets underway in a matter of days and the Gunners have seen plenty of change in their quest to finishing one place better than runners-up. ‌ The north London side welcomed Athletic Bilbao in thei final pre-season match with the club's attention now firmly on Manchester United. New signings Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard Viktor Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke will all be pushing their case for place in the first XI this season. ‌ Arsenal's work is not done however. Persistent links to Eberechi Eze and Real Madrid star Rodrygo continue. ‌ But the exit door may see more attention. The likes of Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Reiss Nelson all have uncertain futures at the club and Andrea Berta will be hard at work to seal deals where necessary. Arsenal change target Andrea Berta's focus will now be on player sales rather than incoming transfers inthe final weeks of the transfer window. The Italian sporting director will look to use his expertise and extensive network of contacts to increase Arsenal's success. The north London side have only generated a mere £8.57m in player sales and there's a recognition at boardroom level that this must improve. Five players could soon be on their way. Reiss Nelson could yet end up at Fulham, while discussions are underway with Stuttgart for Fabio Vieira's signature. Porto have seen an offer knocked back by Arsenal for Jakub Kiwior, and the Gunners also want to find a permanent exit for Karl Hein and Albert Sambi Lokonga. ‌ Arsenal told to say goodbye Arsenal have been told that they should sell Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian striker has endured a rollercoaster spell at the Emirates following a £45m move from Manchester City. Jesus, 28, has scored 26 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal but Alan Smith reckons his time is up. The Brazil internation has seen his time at the club interrupted by injury and most recently his 2024/25 was ended prematurely. Former Gunner Smith believes Jesus should be moved on following the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres. Speaking to Metro, he said: 'I think somebody like Gabriel Jesus might go given his track record with injuries. ‌ "He might be one that you say, thanks, and try and move him on, get a bit of money in. Obviously, with Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz, there might not be too many opportunities for him this season." Kiwior stance Jakub Kiwior is interested in leaving Arsenal if he can find a club that will provide first team football. Since joining the Gunners from Spezia in January 2023, the defender has largely been a back-up option. The 25-year-old Poland international enjoyed a solid run following Gabriel Magalhaes' season-ending injury and has seen a £26m bid from Porto rejected by Arsenal. But that may not end the chance of a transfer due to his interest in exploring options where he would be first choice, per the Athletic. Man Utd transfer news: Amorim's role in Sesko deal as rivals provide Baleba competition

Manchester United have landed the signing of Benjamin Sesko with Ruben Amorim playing a key role as the club consider going after PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Manchester United's rebuild continues under Ruben Amorim with the club confirming the signing of Benjamin Sesko this weekend - capturing the striker from under Newcastle's nose. ‌ The Red Devils beat their Premier League rivals to the signing of the Slovenian, who moves to Old Trafford for more than £70million to bolster their attack. The club had been looking to land a new frontman to compliment fellow newbies Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ It is understood that a midfielder is next on their shopping list with Brighton 's Carlos Baleba heavily linked, albeit the player himself has shown no desire to quit Brighton. The Seagulls also do not have to sell this summer. ‌ Amorim will also hope to rid of some of his fringe players, some of their big names on big wages. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnaco and Antony are well yet to find new homes. Here's the latest from Old Trafford. Sesko explains Amorim role in move United's new frontman admitted the mood around the club was evident from minute one with Amorim's changes clearly making a difference when attracting new faces. The ex-Sporting Lisbon manager's vision is also turning heads and aided Sesko's decision. He said: 'When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. ‌ 'From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.' PSG ready for Donnarumma bid PSG anticipate a number of bids for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after already signing his replacement — and the French champions believe United will be among the clubs queuing up. ‌ The Parisians have agreed a deal for Lille shotstopper Lucas Chevalier, who will join on a five-year contract after the Champions League winners decided to pay up €40m (£34.7m), with the potential for a further €15m (£13m) in add-ons, for his services. Donnarumma has just one year remaining on his contract in Paris and the club are happy to part ways with the understanding they would still have two top goalkeepers at the Parc des Princes. The former AC Milan star is said to have been interested in extending his deal but an agreement was not reached. ‌ Baleba competition United could face firm competition from local neighbours Manchester City, who are also keeping tabs on Baleba. Reports claim that the Red Devils have made contact with Brighton through intermediaries to register their interest in Baleba, who was signed for £23.2m back in 2023. But United are not the only club who see the Cameroon international as a shrewd addition with City also long-time fans. ESPN have confirmed Pep Guardiola's interest in the Brighton man but it is unclear whether would look to match any United bid this summer. Viktor Gyokeres' promising start, the other signing who will propel Arsenal and the major boost ahead of Man United clash: THINGS WE LEARNED from the Gunners' 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao

Viktor Gyokeres scored his first Arsenal goal in a 3-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao. Gyokeres headed Martin Zubimendi's searching cross beyond goalkeeper Unai Simon before performing his trademark celebration on his second Emirates appearance. The striker, signed for £64million from Sporting Lisbon, was involved in the build-up to the second goal, finding Declan Rice who in turn picked out Gabriel Martinelli. Simon rushed out but was caught, allowing Martinelli to tee up Bukayo Saka. In one of his final acts, Gyokeres saw another deft header tipped onto the woodwork, before his replacement Kai Havertz also got on the scoresheet. Here, Daily Mail Sport's ISAAN KHAN reveals the five things he learned... Promising early signs for Gyokeres Viktor Gyokeres is off the mark. The £64million signing's team-mates have had a tricky time in finding their shiny striker in recent pre-season friendlies. Yet, there was a real reflection of the qualities the Swede brings to this team. The 27-year-old struck with a first-half header, from Martin Zubimendi's exquisite cross, and was markedly more present than in the 3-2 defeat to Villarreal. In that match, Gyokeres ran around with conviction, only to suffer from very limited service. Whereas against Athletic Bilbao he was properly involved in the action and affected the game. Those calls from supporters, stretching back to last summer, for a striker were well warranted indeed. There were a series of hard runs to the byline, chopping the ball back to team-mates, or marauding sprints on the left flank which stretched the opposition backline. In the area, he was desperate to affect play. He had a poor shot scuffed into the ground on 21 minutes off a Bukayo Saka cross, but he did not let this deter him. Gyokeres soon after scored that header, and then carried on in the same vein in the second period, striking a post with a diving header from Noni Madueke's cross. It equates to the piece Mikel Arteta has been missing for some time: a striker who can make things happen. It is still early days, yet the signs are looking promising. Tireless Zubimendi oozes class Arsenal were already giddy over the acquisition of Martin Zubimendi, having battled off Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. You can see why, the diminutive Spaniard darting around like a wasp to retrieve lost balls, rob opponents and pass the ball out quickly. It was a great display, and one which serves as a reminder to Premier League teams of the quality they will be up against when facing Arsenal. He really is the Gunners' version of Rodri. Time and again, he would take an opponent by surprise, diving in with a challenge at pace to take the ball away in close quarters. Zubimendi on the ball played as though time itself had frozen, his quality allowing himself that extra time to dictate play. His sumptuous cross to set up Gyokeres' goal topped it off, exploiting Bilbao's failure to close him down and whipping the ball right on the money. The Spaniard plays in a position which can often been overlooked. Yet the Gunners know all too well the quality they have purchased, and how crucial Zubimendi will be going forward. Arsenal target quiet The man Arsenal had courted earlier this summer in Nico Williams did make it to the Emirates eventually - but in the colours of Athletic Bilbao. The north London club's desire to bring in a reinforcement for the left wing is no secret, and Williams was on their list. But the Gunners' hopes of luring the forward were ended when he last month penned an eight-year contract extension to stay at Athletic Bilbao until 2035. Williams had a quiet afternoon, partly because his side's midfield could not get a strangle hold at all in a game which Arsenal dominated. It left him isolated and with scant chance to drive at his opponents, before being substituted on 64 minutes. A shame in the end for Williams, a talented player who, if given the ball, would have surely shown the skills which put him on the Gunners' radar. A contract to 2035, though, puts paid to any move. Titans reunited at the back With Arsenal's Premier League opener against Manchester United next Sunday, Gabriel starting alongside William Saliba was a real boost. The Brazilian underwent a hamstring operation in April and came on in the second half on Wednesday. His start was a further indication of his match fitness going into the new season. He looked at ease, not harbouring signs of being held back, nor affected by injury. It would be remiss to expect him at 100 per cent already, yet he battled in his usual way and looks certain to start against Man United. Gabriel was a typical nuisance on corner kicks and marshalled the backline well with his sidekick Saliba. He physically had not lost any presence in duels and was not afraid of such scenarios, a key sign when returning from injury. There's a clear telepathy when both Saliba and Gabriel play. In fact, Bilbao had scant chances in the attacking third because Arsenal's backline was well-orchestrated. Gabriel's return was a real boost to Arteta and he looked at ease back in the defence There's a clear telepathy when both William Saliba and Gabriel play together Bulked up Havertz on target Having missed most of the end of last season's campaign due to a hamstring tear, the return of Kai Havertz deserves a mention. The German, looking noticeably more muscular from his recovery process, came on in the 71st minute and had a quick impact. Eleven minutes later, latching on to a downfield Saka pass, Havertz brushed aside two defenders to march into the area and finish home. The goal will have done him a world of good, having seen the impact of new man Gyokeres. There's a healthy dose of competition to be had in the centre forward position. Havertz provides a different option to Gyokeres and will be champing at the bit to keep his spot. It's an intriguing prospect.
