EGA receives 900 applications from young Emiratis at National Service Career Fair - Middle East Business News and Information
Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, has received 900 applications from young female and male Emiratis at National Service Career Fair, which took place in Expo City Dubai from 12-14 May 2025.
During the career fair, EGA signed an agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to provide scholarships to UAE National students in subjects relevant to EGA talent needs. EGA's National Training programmes develop high school leavers for technical roles in the company's industrial operations and administration. More than 5,000 UAE Nationals have graduated from these programmes since they were first established in 1982, with many then having long and successful careers with EGA and some reaching senior leadership positions.
EGA's Graduate Training programme is for university graduates. Graduate trainees complete 18 or 24 months of training for supervisory positions in corporate functions or in industrial operations in front-line roles, such as tending reduction cells.
In 2024, EGA hired more than 220 UAE Nationals, including in the longstanding National and Graduate Training programmes
New recruits from the National Service Career Fair are expected to start from September 2025.

EGA already has one of the highest Emiratisation rates of any major company on a like-for-like basis accounting for the high proportion of blue-collar roles in heavy industry. More than 1,300 UAE Nationals now work at EGA. Over 700 of EGA's Emirati employees are under the age of 35.
At the end of 2024, EGA's in-focus Emiratisation rate was 44.5 per cent. EGA now aims to accelerate in-focus Emiratisation to reach 50 per cent by the end of 2027. This means EGA expects to hire up to 600 UAE Nationals over the period.
EGA has participated in 14 career fairs so far in 2025, including both major fairs and EGA's own recruitment drives, such as those conducted with Dubai Government Human Resources Department, Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Department of Government Enablement, HR Department of Ras Al Khaimah Government, HR Department of Fujairah Government.

CAPMAS: Egypt's Exports to UAE Jump 46.9%
Taarek Refaat The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that Egyptian exports to the UAE rose to $3.3 billion in 2024, compared to $2.2 billion, year-on-year, a 46.9% increase. CAPMAS added that trade exchange between Egypt and the UAE also reached $6 billion during the same year. In a statement issued on the occasion of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Abu Dhabi Wednesday, the agency explained that Egyptian exports to the UAE increased to $3.3 billion in 2024, compared to $2.2 billion, a year earlier, with a 46.9% increase. While Egyptian imports from the UAE reached $2.7 billion in 2024, compared to $2.3 billion in 2023, a 16.8% increase. The agency's data also showed that the value of trade between Egypt and the UAE increased to $6 billion in 2024, compared to $4.5 billion in 2023, a 31.6% increase. The value of Emirati investments in Egypt reached $38.9 billion in the 2023/24 fiscal year, compared to $3 billion in the 2022/23 fiscal year. Meanwhile, the value of Egyptian investments in the UAE reached $1.4 billion in the 2023/24 fiscal year, compared to $1.7 billion in the 2022/23 fiscal year. The value of remittances from Egyptians working in the UAE reached $1.8 billion during the FY2023/24 compared to $2.1 billion during the FY2022/23. Meanwhile, the value of remittances from Emiratis working in Egypt reached $31.6 million during the FYFY2022/23. Egypt's population reached 107.7 million in June 2025, while the UAE's population reached 11.3 million during the same period. EGA trialling new wearable technology as part of annual ‘Beat the Heat' safety programme - Middle East Business News and Information
Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, today announced the introduction of new innovative wearable safety technology in its annual 'Beat the Heat' programme to prevent heat-related illness amongst industrial workers in the hot UAE summer. Heat-related illness is a hazard for anyone working outside in the UAE summer, and can be fatal if left untreated. EGA's industrial processes generate further heat and must operate continuously, meaning work is conducted outside around-the-clock all summer. EGA is a global leader in combating heat-related illness, with no cases since 2021. EGA has been trialling wearable technology to monitor critical health indicators during the summer since 2022. The new wearable technology is designed for challenging industrial environments like smelters. The technology offers enhanced location services, connectivity and consistent real-time data feeds accessible by EGA supervisors and medical teams. The devices provide automated work and rest cycles if core body temperature rises beyond a specified threshold. 'Beat the Heat' is EGA's annual summer-long, comprehensive programme to combat occupational heat stress and entirely prevent heat-related illness. The initiative has been running for over a decade to drive awareness amongst EGA's employees of the early signs of heat stress, and equip and empower them to take action to prevent the onset of heat-related illness. This year, EGA has also deployed full body cooling units at EGA medical centres and selected operational areas in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah. The cooling suits offer rapid, non-invasive core body cooling to support emergency response. Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium , said: 'Heat-related illness is a serious challenge in our region. At EGA, our goal each summer is to engage everyone in ensuring we have zero cases of heat-related illness at our company, and together we have a long track record of success. Technology has the potential to make our Beat the Heat programme even more effective.' EGA's 'Beat the Heat' campaign includes hydration testing before and during shifts, scheduled cooling breaks, access to cooling showers, and dedicated rest zones across EGA's operations. Employees and contractors use cooling booths, drinking water stations, icemakers, and portable air conditioning units to stay cool and hydrated throughout the day. EGA achieved zero recordable heat-related illnesses for the third consecutive summer in 2024. EGA last cases of recordable heat-related illness were in 2021, when two employees required treatment at the company's medical centres. In both cases, the employees received hydration via intravenous drips and fully recovered within hours.2018.

Federal Youth Authority and EGA partner to create development opportunities for youth in the UAE - Middle East Business News and Information
Emirates The Federal Youth Authority (FYA) and Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside of oil and gas, signed a cooperation agreement to enhance joint efforts towards creating distinctive development opportunities for young UAE nationals. In the presence of His Excellency Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the agreement was signed by His Excellency Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority, and Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium at EGA's headquarters in Al Taweelah in Abu Dhabi. Under the agreement, the FYA and EGA will work together to develop an initiative aimed at fostering a supportive ecosystem that unlocks growth opportunities for youth in the UAE, in line with the National Youth Agenda 2031. Investing in talents: Commenting on the agreement, His Excellency Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi said: 'Empowering the youth and providing them with the skills and opportunities they need is at the heart of the national vision to shape the future. We can see this commitment clearly in the company's extensive track record of investing in young talents and enabling them to innovate. EGA established its Youth Council in 2018, in line with the wise leadership's vision to highlight the role that the youth play and empower them to lead the UAE's development and innovation. The company's team includes more than 700 employees under the age of 35. EGA also runs outreach programmes to inspire youth to specialise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These programmes – which include 'Engineer the Future' and EGA's Ambassador Programme – have engaged more than 35,000 students since 2018.
