Law roundup: Man assaults driver in fit of road rage

Yahoo29-04-2025

Apr. 29—A man experiencing road rage reportedly tailgated another vehicle, following it to a location where he got out and smacked the other driver's phone out of his hand. Then he left in a black Volkswagen with a second male occupant and headed onto U.S. 93.
A mustachioed man wearing red flannel was "obviously on drugs" as he allegedly tried to break into a shed after "humping a vacuum" minutes before, according to someone who called the Kalispell Police Department. The caller reportedly heard him arguing with a woman, screaming and a popping sound. The caller told officers he had a wooden "stand" in his hand that looked like a table leg. The man asked responding officers for medical help because he was having trouble breathing.
A middle-aged woman with a pistol in her hand was reportedly spotted across the street by a man who heard two shots after he went behind his house. He told officers that she did not seem agitated and that he was unsure if she was shooting at anyone or anything.
A man reportedly ignored a restraining order and removed the door handle off a woman's car because she wouldn't let him into her house.
A man was reportedly slamming his door in the middle of the night, making enough of a racket to disturb a neighbor.
Dispatch had a hard time hearing a woman who lost her voice over the cacophony of barking dogs as she alleged that a man was living out of her truck that was parked in front of a business after it broke down. She accused the man of taking items out of the truck and leaving. She said he had been kicked off the property last week. Officers detained a person and advised the jail about the incident.
Officers received an online complaint about an alleged increase in vehicles speeding out of new apartment complexes in the area, in particular a green Chevy Chevelle that did a burnout before speeding off toward Idaho Street.
Someone reportedly thought a man driving a white Dodge Ram 3500 with a flatbed looked intoxicated as he weaved in and out of traffic, tailgated other vehicles and swerved, almost hitting a car.

Driver dies after colliding with Maryland State Police cruiser on I-95 in Howard County; 3 injured

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. () — One person is dead and three people were hospitalized after five vehicles, including a Maryland State Police cruiser, were involved in a crash in Howard County early Sunday. Just minutes after 2 a.m., MSP troopers received a call for a trooper-involved crash in the area of Interstate 95 south, north of Maryland 100. At the scene, troopers learned that an on-duty MSP trooper was sitting in his unmarked patrol vehicle on the left shoulder of I-95 when, for unknown reasons, a Jeep Cherokee hit him, according to MSP. Police said the impact of the crash caused the Jeep to go into the roadway, where a GMC pickup truck, a Lincoln SUV and a Volkswagen struck it. The driver of the Jeep, who police have not yet identified, died at the scene, and a passenger from the vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the GMC pickup truck was also hospitalized. Responders rescue 2 people from Potomac River in DC after boat overturns Medics took the trooper to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He has since been released, state police noted. Troopers arrested the driver of the Volkswagen, Brenton Passmore, 32, of Crofton, at the scene of the crash, charging them with suspected driving under the influence. As a result of the five-vehicle crash, lanes were closed for about four hours but have since reopened. The investigation into what exactly caused the crash remains ongoing.
